Talk:Polymock: Defeat Plurgg

From Guild Wars Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

Ok I'm through with polymock... I do well in almost every mini-game that I've done in Guild Wars and I cannot beat Plurrg. I have had him down to so little life on his kappa that I could kill him if I could get in one more hit. If this had only happened once, I probably wouldn't have given up. However, I have had Plurgg down to that tiny amount of life 6 times! I think that the kappa is just too powerful with the computer at the helm for being in only the second polymock quest. Congrats to those of you who've beaten him, you've done something I apparently can't.--Turai-Ossa39 20:54, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

I've already given up on all polymock quests, sucks for a completist like me, but these are just not doable, whatever I do. - Kynik Nikitashi @ October 2nd 2007 11:37(GMT+1)

Is it just me or did anyome else find that Plurgg was really difficult to beat? I gave up after an hour, he seemed much more difficult than the first enemy. Masterofthat 22:05, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I had the same problem. I tried about 6 times and finally on eon the last try by putting gargoyle first, then skale, and then fire imp out --User The Titan sig.jpg User:The Titan User The Titan sig.jpg 13:40, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

thanks for that, the combination worked quite well for me -mikeh

Yeah, the 'guide' is not working. interupting his immolate is impossible because he always uses Polymock glyph of Concentration before it Trixor 15:48, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

You have to use the BLocking skill for the immolate, takes timing.

This quest seams impossible to do, not only do Plurgg's Polymocks do a lot more dmg, also he seems to be able to block way more often then you do. -Kynik Nikitashi @September 1st 2007 19:25 (GMT+1)

I'm having trouble with this one too, I always loose on his kappa. I do alot better if I take fire imp, skale, and gargoyle. The mergoyle seems worthless. --24.250.15.109 19:08, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

I can beat him easily with: Skale vs Fire Imp, then degen the Ice Imp if you still can. Fire Imp vs. Ice Imp, burn/meteor the Kappa if you still can. Then finally Gargoyle vs. Kappa. Just shoot the hell out of it's remaining lifespan and do a victory dance or something. User Karuro Icon.png Karuro 21:08, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
For me it was a difficult to but with that team of 3 monsters above i beat him in second attempt and 128hp :D 99dragons 21:26, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Umm on the walkthrough it says "Start out with your new Fire Imp..." Shouldn't that say Ice imp?Fire Tock 23:25, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

No, you get a fire imp from the last quest. Silavor UserSilavorSigIcon.png 02:59, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

For those with multiple characters, weary of doing this (hard) quest more than once, you can "cheat" a bit - when you finish the last Polymock quest, instead of registering your new gold Polymock piece for the character who earned it, give the piece to the next character you plan to take through those quests. You will begin already with a rare piece, and so beating Plurgg will become easier. Erasculio 23:34, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I've heard is that you use Skale vs Fire Imp (if you get set on fire (Immolate) resign instantly, you dont want to start off with degeneration). Skale vs Ice Imp (if you didnt die) use your remaining health to deal a few blows on him to make it easier for the next round. Fire Imp vs Ice Imp (whats reamining if it anyway) use Concentration + Polymock Block first to block its finest skill (since it has obviously recharged) use Meteor and Immolate and keep an eye on 1: your energy and 2: what skills Plurgg is using againist you. Fire Imp vs Kappa, use Meteor and Immolate if you have the chance to knock his health right down, use the drain energy skill to interupt his Mind Freeze as it will deal 400-800 damage, use Polymock Block and Concentration to block his water trident, dont drain or block anything unless he uses Water Trident or Mind Freeze. If you have won do a lil dance if ya want (or not). To be honest I still havnt done this but eventually will :P.

Its really fustrating nearly killed him litrally seconds away but then I died on his and my last Polymock Piece

Might try that. User Sarifael Sig.jpgSarifael 17:59, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

yeah...kinda having trouble with the kappa. any way to know how to predict his movements?

That kappa is INSANE! Too high damage, too much interrupts. It was 1 on 1, me with skale him with the kappa. He started at ~2500 health. in the end, it was 100 left each. Me with shard storm on me. I cast Deathly chill, it cast and WTF out of NOWHERE the trident hit me. Yes, it's a projectile, but I cats deathly chill BEFORE THAT! WTF MAN! Harrier 16:32, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

I can't get by plurgg either. The very first one, fire vs skale is too difficult since every non-spam skill the skale has, has a long 20 sec recharge while plugg's fire imp has immolate which has only a 10 sec recharge. Worse, disease is only -4 degen while burning is -7 degen. Morever, meteor has the additional effect of interruption, which you don't have. There is no way to reliably get ahead except by luck. Moreover, immolate damages immediately, while rising bile does not, amplyfying any mistakes...for example, if both of you have only 100 health left, and you cast rising bile and the imp casts immolate, then you will die and he won't suffer ANY damage, since the effect of the spell is terminated when you die. It is stacked so much against you, there is no chance to advance except by luck. Also targetting sucks and should be initially fixed to the opponent and non-selectable, since it wastes time to have to do it after the match starts. I gave up after 100 rounds.

Summary of the skill imbalance:

Skale...vs...Fire Imp

Degen: .................-4...............-7

Skill Recharge:.. 20 sec........10 sec

Addtnl Interrupt:.. None........ meteor

Spam damage:.. 125...........120

Whoever thought that was a good match up is an idiot. You can reason it out as follows: you must be able to block both meteor and immolate to gain any advantage at all, but immolate has a recharge of 10 sec while power block has a 20 sec recharge and polymock block has a recharge of 12 sec. If you ignore the glyph of concentration and just polymock block the following spell, then if it is not meteor, you have just wasted your block and you will lose. If you first wait to see if it is meteor then you may get hit by flare instead and end up 120+ hp behind. If you wait for immolate to show up, you could end up losing a few hundred points to flare alone. Some people say you can dodge it, but I never have witnessed this as a possibiltiy since I can't even see the platform I am standing on. But then again, immolate does twice the damage and takes half as much time to recharge as the skale's comparable skill, so it is fairly useless to try and keep up. Basically it is only by luck that it may inadvertantly not use it's high damage skills allowing a recharge of your block skills. Even polymock block has a longer recharge than immolate. So it is basically impossible to win except by sheer luck.

You can maximize your chance to win though, by using skale spams a great deal at the start when the fire imp is over 50% health (150 hp damage at that point), since afterwards your spam is far less damaging (only 100 hp). By hitting a couple of critical blocks around the 50% mark, apply rising bile and rotting flesh after the imps blocks are recharging, and that may get you a win, but as mentioned before, because of the skill imbalance it is more by luck than anything else.

I managed to beat him (barely) with 1.Fire Imp 2.Gargoyle 3.Skale. For round 1 I just heaved the 1e skills at him and outgunned him with rate of fire, basically. My fire imp still had about 1/3 life left for his ice imp so I was able to knock it down some before coming in fresh with the Gargoyle. Same deal here, just spammed the 1e's at him until he dropped. I only had a little left for his kappa but I managed to get in one or two hits before my skale came up. Survived the kappa with only 158hp left. I fail at interrupts, so YMMV. -- Tekn0mancer User Tekn0mancer-Awaken the Blood 19px sig.jpg talk 01:10, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

For anyone still stuck on this, the above mentioned combo works VERY well. Gargoyle-Fire Imp-Skale. I just won it in one try with that combination, so you know theres something to be said about using it. Good luck all, and may your polymock quest run smoother.--161.184.194.206 02:22, 15 June 2010 (UTC)oops that was me, wasn't logged on--Darkness Prevails 02:24, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Indeed, it's a pain but it's still doable. After about 10 tries of hopeless failure I've finally beat him.
I'm with Darkness Prevails; got it in one. 24.47.84.61 00:53, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
HATE TO TELL YOU, BUT the BASTARD JUST FLAT OUT CHEATS, DOESN'T MATTER WHAT PIECE OR POWER YOU USE HE STILL BEATS YOU EVERY TIME!!!! 69.171.172.133 09:28, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
ROUND 267 HAVE TRIED ALL COMBINATIONS ACCORDING TO (TeknOmancer & Darkness Prevails) THE ABOVE MENTIONED STRATEGY AND NONE OF IT WORKS, MY BET IS THAT THE GAME HAS BEEN TUNED UP IN HIS FAVOR. (just like the casinos do to the slot machines in Vegas whenever there is something going on in town... ie...NASCAR...HELLDERADO...ROCK CONCERTS...ETC...ETC...ETC...) SO IT'S A CHEAT EVERY TIME!!!! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.171.172.133 (talk).
Buy a gold polymock stone off someone, they drop as dungeon items, once you get one of those then you can just faceroll the keyboard to win. (My favourite is the Stone Rain one, but any of the ones listed here will do the trick) -Chieftain Alex 18:27, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
