Talk:Protector's Defense

So, any plans to make this useful? The incredibly small range, restriction on moving and minimal coverage (about 1/3rd of the time) leave a lot to be desired.

Use in the Deep. —ǥrɩɳsɧƿoɲ/ 18:55, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
I like the skill on my tactic war, but it is really hard to use since it ends on movement. I end up breaking it when the character auto follows an enemy to hit with a weapon. Would be a lot easier to use if it was like a defensive aura around me, so I could still move and stab thingies, or help protect the monk who still insists on moving. - Elder Angelus 17:44, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Not a Stance?[edit]

So, I can use this with, say, Frenzy? User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 02:28, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

As long as you don't move, sure. -- Halogod35 TALK TO ME NAO plz. :D 02:44, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
I think this skill is underrated. I've been using this on a whim, and it's not half bad. Of course, having to remember not to move took some getting used to, but it's never really been a huge drawback; how often are you trying to block/kite at the same time, or trying to block/chase something at the same time? I've saved my monk's ass a few times with this (Never got a "thank you", though.), and my own ass a few more times. Chaining this skill would be FTW (I'm thinking Smiteball or Ele Ball). The only thing I had a problem with was teammates running out of range, but once I explained that hey, standing next to me makes melee not hurt so much, it wasn't really an issue. Decent skill, IMO. For uh... pve? -Auron 07:22, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
I was using it in AB. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 00:13, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
AB is about movement, so this skill seems to be a terrible choice. ~~ User:Frvwfr2 frvwfr2 (talk · contributions) 03:55, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

i been using this in FA on my traper ranger. sexy skill. Spike trap, Dust Trap, Flame Trap, Healing Spring, Trappers' speed, Protectors Def, Dodge, Unguent. Gives me decent dmg with a defensive edge in blind, AoE healing and aoe blocking. And i can keep trappers speed up cause protectors defense is a skill not a stance--Justice 19:36, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

A decent skill that works well with any profession with ranged attack. Funny enough, warriors have very little use for it, but with rangers/ paragons or monks it's pure gold. SamoK 13:09, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Since the description doesn't really say...[edit]

does this also affect the user? 22:11, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes. Misery 22:12, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
The only time something would not affect the user is if it said "other party members" or something along those lines. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 22:14, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Mo betta?[edit]

Not that it matters too much, but I think this skill would be more versatile (not necessarily better) if it was reworked a tad. I suggest that it requires a shield (restricts some casters) and ends on attack and reduces speed by half. Also cool would be an animation where your character raises their shield and keeps it up until the skill ends. That way there is a visual indication of it that makes intuitive sense for the other players. What do you guys think? --Knux 07:24, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Nevermind. May as well just make Shield Stance affect adjacent allies. --Knux 07:31, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

When you use this, can allies just walk near adjacent you and then gain this affect? →[ »Halogod User Halogod35 Sig.png (talk ]← 00:07, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted charr sig.PNG (τѧιк) 00:10, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
I lol'd. →[ »Halogod User Halogod35 Sig.png (talk ]← 00:16, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Very strong in 4v4 formats hence it's ban from Codex; still very useful for Monking with in Random Arenas since you can replace guardian with something else and still provide blocks for those squishy mesmers. Effective as long as you ping it, like, 50 times every time you use it to get the message across. Ox rider 11:15, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

This skill needs to be nerfed for RA. -Tiger Bird Song

Why isn't this skill available in Codex?[edit]

Why isn't this skill available in Codex? Just curious.--Gungraave 10:12, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Guess they think it's pretty leet | 72 User 72 Truly Random.jpg | 12:13, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

EVERY ally[edit]

should it be mentioned, that this skills works for every ally? I mean it works even for spirits. thats how I use it. pretty neat synergy with Summon Spirirts as it pulls your spirits in the range for this skill. but I guess its a bit of a stretch to say that these 2 skills have a synergy on the page. or is it? ~The Lauighing Max 02/24/2016
