Faster attack speed[edit]

82.247.254.132 had added a note about Racing Beetles having a faster attack speed than other pets. Can anyone confirm this? --Silver Edge 21:35, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

I tested it yesterday. I was attacked by a Racing beetle during my own pet (melandru stalker) attacked this racing beetle, and the dammage were inflict faster on I than on the beetle.

The ratio was approximatively 2 time faster than my own pet. I think the attack speed of pet is aproximatively 2sec (like hammer or bow) and attack speed of racing beetle is 1.33 sec (like swords). I was surprised to see that dammages are same for beetle and for other pet. only attack speed is diffrent.

I'm sorry if my english is not perfect, I'm french. I done my best to give good information for the wiki. why delet it ? It was not an affirmation but an observation. I'm not hurted for this delet.

Verify this information by yourself into "zaishen menagery", it is easy.

I decided to spend the faction to unlock the Racing Beetle and test this. Its attack speed is faster than other pets. Without using any skills, having rank 0 Beast Mastery, and only my pet attacking, a level 5 Racing Beetle would take 295 seconds to kill the Master of Damage, whereas a level 5 Tiger (which also deals slashing damage) would take twice as long (i.e. 590 seconds). I also tested the other two most recently introduced charmable animals (Panda and Hound of Balthazar) and they would also take 590 seconds. Based on attack speed, pets have a normal attack speed of 2 seconds, so the Racing Beetle does seem to have an attack speed of 1.33 seconds. --Silver Edge 08:20, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
I'm a few years late, but wouldn't killing him twice as fast mean it has an attack speed of 1.00? If it attacked every 1.33 seconds, then the beetle should need ~393 seconds to kill the master of damage. 8.46.32.242
Thought I might as well test this. Swording visually happens at about the same speed (I sworded the Master of Damage at the same time as my beetle... beetled it). So that points to 1.33s, which left the question of whether I could reproduce the double DPS that Silver Edge got. After all, the only way that would make sense is if the beetle also did more damage. To test I tried putting a level 20 elder wolf vs the equivalent beetle at 12 BM in the PvE isle. Max hits were different (beetle managed 55, wolf only got to 52), and total damage in 180s came to 4020 vs 2877. That still has the beetle doing ~1.4x the damage of the wolf, but RNG is going to skew this (and pets don't always hit max on crits, so it's going to be bigger than for players). After that I felt like trying the level 5 forms at 0 BM to see if I could reproduce the 2x result, which I did successfully. In conclusion: it seems as though something about the beetle scales differently with level. Loggy (talk) 15:57, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for testing it! I'm kind of surprised there are still people around here. That's sure is strange though. Did you sync your sword attacks at both lvl 20 and lvl 5? I'll use zcoins to unlock it later, so I might test it a bit as well to see if it's the damage or the attack speed scaling.8.46.32.242 05:07, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
I don't think it was any different. It's probably worth pointing out that not all the attack anims are the same length, too; the attacks didn't sync up perfectly but a 0.33s difference should've been noticeable. Loggy (talk) 15:34, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

/dance animation?[edit]

Is there a way to get the pet racing beetle to dance? Or can we only see this dance animation when the Shing Jea Boardwalk (Rollerbeetle Racing event) is open?

On a hero[edit]

The design and the color both randomly change each time an instance is entered. I haven't tried talking to Hokusai about changing a hero's pet design. 66.87.86.219 22:53, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

I just tried talking to Hokusai - I had a pet panda, but my hero had the racing beetle. I paid to change the design, and unfortunately the hero design did not change. When I picked up a racing beetle myself I found that the design had been changed on my own, but this isn't what we wanted :p So no, it appears you cannot change the design of a hero's rollerbeetle. -Chieftain Alex 00:09, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
