I'm not sure they fly twice as fast, it seems that with every single bow it flies at same speed , and the bows each have different flight-times 78.20.153.111 20:16, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

This Is An Armor Ignoring Skill[edit]

Since it adds on to your actual damage, it ignores armor as long as you don't do negative damage. Also, I've discovered that this with Favorable Winds can make an arrow fly 4x faster. Then use Called Shot and Quick Shot and I'll guarantee you'll never miss.

Question: this prep is supposed to last 24 seconds, but the icon designating that it's active only lasts a few seconds....why is that?

No, he mistaked the icon for recharge time as the icon for its duration. Bisurge 01:02, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Concise Description anomaly[edit]

The concise description implies that all of your attacks deal the + damage but only your arrows move twice as fast, while the full description clearly states only your arrows benefit. Just wondering, is the + damage truly only applied with arrows or are all weapons affected by it? Silavor UserSilavorSigIcon.png 10:44, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Icon trivia[edit]

Is there any reason to think the icon depicts a hornbow? --Irgendwer 00:17, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

First question I have is, do you play a ranger? If not, then course it wouldn't be easy to tell the differences between each kind of bow. Having a ranger, I managed one of each of the bows - horn, recurve, long, short, etc. and they are actually different sizes as well as styles. A long bow and a flat bow are both long, cept the long bow doesn't have a flat look to it. Just look at the gallery of the images for another comparison of this image. Short bow is short and so on. So, my favorite is rotwing recurve bow, but it's like a curve. The Hornbow that I had managed, has a bent in - in the middle. So, I believe that's where the "comparison" is. I hope this helps and can give an idea as to why the trivia is there. Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 00:32, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean by flatbows looking flatter than longbows. Shortbows are short compared to long/flatbows, but not to recurve/hornbows. Practically every bow skin has a bend of some form in the middle. I do play a Ranger, and I maintain that the different bow classes are not stylistically distinct enough to classify a bow based on sight alone. --Irgendwer 01:30, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
Why do some elites like Rotwing have "Recurve" or Urgoz have "long" or "Short" after the bows you get? Also, why do these bows fit closely to those names and not to any of the others? Why not just bow, if they're not "stylistically distinct enough to classify"? They seem a bit distinct enough to me on my ranger... I'm just wondering why they seem differently to you. I think the trivia is enough to stay. I don't see enough reason to remove it, unless we should get a dev to say what kind it is and remove it until then. Still, I'm curious of my questions to a fellow ranger... Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 03:57, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
Bows are labeled as different types because they're functionally different. The Rotwing is a recurve bow because it behaves as one according to the game mechanics, not because it looks like a real-life recurve bow. Furthermore, the Forgotten Shortbow has exactly the same size and shape despite being a different bow class. Urgoz's Flatbow looks exactly the same as an Amber Longbow despite being a different class. The "wooden" Longbow is identical to the "wooden" Flatbow. The Tormented Bow shares two appearances among five classes while all five Destroyer Bow types share only one. If you saw the shadow of one of these bows on a skill icon, you would not be able to tell its type with any certainty. --Irgendwer 14:03, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
I've looked at the three bow types linked from hornbow and I don't see any particular resemblance to the icon for RtW. It looks to me like a modestly stylized bow that's designed to fit inside the box rather than to look like a specific bow or bow class. Kaisha: can you link to images that demonstrate the similarities?  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:56, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Read the Wind (large).jpg The curling ends of the bow don't look like any bow I recognise. Removed trivia. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 16:53, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Actually, it does remind me of this bow. That's the closest one out of this gallery. I think the more curvature in the image is due to like a flexible bow, enough to be used. I haven't noticed that many in here to be a lot similar. Just the Scorpion that I found. Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 17:30, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
