I did this dungeon yesterday and I didn't note of the reward but 3,000 Ebon Vanguard reputation points seems a bit excessive to me. Are you sure it wasn't 300? Dancing Gnome 17:14, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Not Minion Master Friendly?[edit]

I did this the first time without a MM and died horribly. The second time it was MUCH easier. Sure they steal your minions, but that is just a few fights in the whole dungeon. The advantages of a MM far outweigh the disadvantages in those few fights imho as you fight far more Charr and Fleshreavers than you do Blobs. With interupts most fights they didn't even steal my minions. Dancing Gnome 17:17, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Indeed Not Friendly[edit]

Well just got PuG Necro doing this with me.The MM had a hard time keeping his minions up.I had a peek at his skill bar and see that he have 2 kind of minions Bone fiend and shambling horror, don't see his elite thou. After fight with group of 8 Fleshreaver on 3rd floor he always dont have any minons left. I was playing the Interupt ranger with hero Illusion mesmer for Arcnae Conundrum and Power return for interupt it does help a lot LONGA 11:38, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps because it was a PUG necro, it was a BAD necro. Pugs and badness seem to often go hand-in-hand lately. I just finished this mission with a friend, and we just tore the whole place up. Derv (me), two eles, an mm with bip, monk (friend), heal henchie, prot henchie, and interrupt henchie. MM didn't seem to have much of a problem at all. --Talonz User Talonz sig.gif // 20:24, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
The fleshreavers are insanely overpowered. They're level 20, but hit me with a 237 damage Chest-thumper. Ridiculous stuff. --User mrsmiles tinysmile.png MrSmiles 04:28, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Somehow[edit]

"Interrupt helps against Rragar Maneater's Resurrection Chant as it somehow casts very quick, allowing Hidesplitter to return to combat soon after death." Maybe because he's a Mesmer primary? And Mesmers have, uhm, Fast Casting? BlazeRick 00:42, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

too less ressurection shrines[edit]

this sucks!...you die and have to walk three quarters of this dungeon again. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 03:24, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Asura gate[edit]

I found an asura gate in the level 3 ^^ Screenshot asura gate rragar's menagerie.jpg i know the explanation is only that they are a lot of part of maps used in different dungeons, and they did putt walls where there was need ; therefore in lot of dungeons, if we stick to some walls and look behind it, wa can see a lot of different areas, and sometimes, asura gates ^^. behind the map of the first level in the cathedral of flammes too we can see ( behind the wall ) a large unused area ( wich is used in an other dungeon ). I found that quite fun, searching the unused areas. lussh 07:09, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Hard Mode is too hard![edit]

Who ever designed this part of the game is in need of therapy. This is not fun. A 2 hour run destroyed by 2 ambushes in a row. First comes 8 fleshreavers. Out of nowhere, not even as much as a slight warning, they land on your head and are in among you.

Next down the tunnel a bit to pull some Charr, should be no problem. But no, sick game designer decides, when you are just about in ranger of them, mobs pop out of the lava. So you have a literal swarm of 10 or more all over you.

You might think it is about time the designer gave players a break. OOOOHHH NOOO! Ambushing mobs hit us as we res on the shrine.

I am pretty discussed about this.

It is one of the harder dungeons in the game, though Vloxen Excavations is definitely harder. On the other hand, Hard Mode is hard for a reason. Still, it's far from impossible. I herohenched Rragar's HM a long time ago with my ele, didn't need any consumables, just solid team build and tactics, and a lot of flagging. The hardest part is the double trouble boss mob on the last level, it's all too easy to get busted to 60DP there. Also, scouting is always a good way to avoid unexpected popups.--Tmakinen 12:32, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
I hear ya. I think I know where you're referring to regarding the fleshreaver ambush and the ooze ambush in nearby res shrine that you get sent to. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 17:18, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Did you do this pre-RoJ buff? It rapes your party. The only reason I was able to beat this was due to consumables. They literally won the dungeon for us (running balanced, replete with SY! spamman). 68.58.91.59 05:56, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
It's brutal but you want hard? Try DoA in HM. – User Barinthus Magical Compass.png Barinthus 06:58, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but people are usually better prepared for DoA HM; elite missions in general have great preset builds that everyone uses. This level of RoJ spam came as a surprise, caught me off guard entirely. 68.58.91.59 02:15, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Heh, bring a imbagon hench or be a imbagon yourself. Did bout Five dungeons today as one and we tore threw the place w/out anyone dieing and 2 people new to healing. *had elites, just not as much skill as a average* -The Anonymous person
You do realise that RoJ is armour-ignoring, right? So an Imbagon won't help as much as it normally would (the +100AL won't make a difference, though the 35% damage reduction from TntF still will). Better off using a ST Shelter Rt, or an ER Prot Ele. 82.11.226.30 21:53, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Zoning into dungeon?[edit]

Tried twice in a row and everytime the game just locks and does the whole send report to anet. Not the first time this has happened either. That whole zone is cursed trying to get into dungeons. WTF is up over! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.214.84.162 (talk).

Its not just you, I had the longest time w/the same problem in Zehlin reach, try using a diffrent computer, if that does'nt work then the fleshreaver obviously switched to hardware.

600/Smite ?[edit]

Anybody ever did this with a 600 build ?

I was thinking about trying with a team similar to Kathandrax three-man team. With Zephyr and perma SB. I'd appreciate any hints if anybody could make it ! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 90.41.71.122 (talk).

its doable. ive been run and i have run it. IPs ftw amirite?--76.252.230.34 16:30, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Hidden treasure[edit]

There is a hidden treasure on level 2 where you get the red key 79.23.70.111 00:00, 2 May 2009 (UTC) And a dwarf just under the beacon of droknar that is nearby. 79.23.70.111 00:04, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Awesome[edit]

What are you guys talking about? I had a good time with this dungeon, it was very dungeon-like and fun. It gave me a sense of accomplishment when I beat it. This is probably my favorite dungeon so far.--Tyri Sunbeam 02:04, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Farmin'[edit]

Are there any solos or low-party number team builds for this place? Anything I can do as Assassin or Dervish primary? I am DESPERATE for a Dryad bow or even the green spear, but I'd rather try to get them instead of dishing out stacks of ectos that I don't have. :( 68.193.113.198

Wow stupid me... Nevermind, I suppose chests can't be farmed, lol.

WTF[edit]

Buggy as hell during runs. Enemies will run, and I kid you not, a FULL compass length to get your smiter. Is their aggro the size of the compass? -- Tha Reckoning User Tha Reckoning Sig.png 09:11, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Multiple Blobby Clones[edit]

Multiple Blobbies can be obtained

I obtained the first Blobby in the entrance room, then went to the area map nearby where the Charr boss and Cait the Collector are located, then backtracked down toward the first cracked wall before I remembered I had forgotten to get the dwarf ghost ally at the area map. Upon my return, there was a 2nd Blobby Clone waiting at the area map. So if you have more than one Fleshreaver Morsel on you, you can get more than one blobby clone. I fortunately had a few morsels which I had packed with me from my Xunlai chest stash prior to embarking on this quest.

I also got the Dwarven Ghost, so before I even had progressed beyond the first room, I already had 3 allies.

Note: the Dwarven Ghost can only be obtained if you have the Light of Deldrimor spell equipped.

--Rpger 21:00, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

  • There is another Blobby behind Ragnar on the first level after you defeat him for the dungeon key. So you should have 3 by this point if you have enough fleshreaver morsels. --Rpger 22:29, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
  • There is another Blobby in the cavernous room on the western edge of level 1. If you have been getting them all along, you should have four Blobbies by this time. --Rpger 23:07, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Graphics error[edit]

I have one of those computers who gets the graphics error in Rata Sum and like zones, and I just got the error tonight when entering the dungeon. Just thought I'd put out a warning to anyone with the graphics error.

What Graphics error?
Both, sign your comments. -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 16:02, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Level 2 Dungeon Key[edit]

If you hurry, you can get through the door that the charr try to escape through at the start of the level. One of them drops a blue dungeon key. Does anyone know if this has any useful purpose? Does it save you any time with a shorter path or something? Pucktrapper 21:30, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Needs mention of quest[edit]

There should be at least some sort of mention of the quest needed to get past the entry cavern of this dungeon. I haven't done any EotN in a long time, going back to do the dungeons in HM and this is what I get after spending a bunch of time getting there and clearing the first corridor. As far as I'm concerned, this page says you can just go right on in and all the way through. Why ANet made it that way is beyond me to boot. I'm there, and all that's stopping me is a door that is apparently immune to dwarven powder kegs. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.10.188.242 (talk).

It's mentioned in the infobox. --Irgendwer 01:34, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Seriously, whats up with the screenshots?[edit]

Looks like somebody did the dungeon when drunk. They should show the easiest and most direct rute and if you want you can mark treasures too but don't use one made by some idiot that walked all over the map to every single concievable spot?! 84.48.54.253 22:29, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

What?? You can't see the portal icons? Want written directions too? Oh wait... *facepalm* [1] 89.204.186.133 20:01, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Bug During Second Encounter With Rragar[edit]

Ran this dungeon in HM today. At the 2nd encounter with Rragar (2nd level), I tried to pull the mob all the way around the corner (near the rez shrine) since during prior runs this appeared to be the the pulling distance limit. After flagging my heroes and hitting the closest char with a bow, my avatar ran all the way back to my allies; however, some bug caused me to die from attacks, etc. before the turn as if I was stuck somewhere else. My rez was where my avatar was rather than the mystery space. Frustrating. Posted here to see if anyone else experiences this, because it's an otherwise efective technique to get by this mob.
