Template talk:Interactive Region nav

I don't really like how bulky it looks, I'd rather have it look like the Titles or Regions nav, unless you guys disagree. ~Farlo Talk 18:22, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Well its got exactly the same internals as the titles nav has split by continent :/ if you meant where the titles nav had campaigns down the left hand side then..
Interactive Region Maps
Core The Battle Isles
Prophecies Ascalon (pre-Searing) Ascalon Northern Shiverpeaks Kryta Maguuma Jungle Crystal Desert Southern Shiverpeaks Ring of Fire Island Chain
Factions Shing Jea Island Kaineng City The Jade Sea Echovald Forest
Nightfall Istan Kourna Vabbi The Desolation
Eye of the North Far Shiverpeaks Tarnished Coast Charr Homelands

or if its the span stuff around the bullets..

Colours obviously don't matter - I just picked one that was in use in the infobox thats going to end up linking here.--File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 19:10, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Implemented the changes that I've predicted you're going to select ~.~ File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 19:16, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Lol, you nailed it on the head. I don't care too much about the colors either, I just didn't like how it was so bulky looking and had the show/hide for each continent. I was about to change it myself to something like this, haha. Perhaps we should have the title link to the category? Or maybe the project page or whatever page we make to get it featured (if we do). ~Farlo Talk 19:53, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Missions/Explorable/Dungeon navs[edit]

Any reason not to make navs for them, something like how the landmark, outposts, etc navs work on the region pages. Something like this: (except not broken)

Interactive Region Maps
Core The Battle Isles
Prophecies Ascalon (pre-Searing) Ascalon Northern Shiverpeaks Kryta Maguuma Jungle Crystal Desert Southern Shiverpeaks Ring of Fire Island Chain
Factions Shing Jea Island Kaineng City The Jade Sea Echovald Forest
Nightfall Istan Kourna Vabbi The Desolation
Eye of the North Far Shiverpeaks Tarnished Coast Charr Homelands
Explorable AreasMissionsDungeons

Have it down by itself and centered, it might be useful.

Also, any thoughts on whether the "Category:Labelled maps" should be renamed to Category:Interactive maps or something? Seems like a bad name since they aren't just labelled, even though I named it originally >.< ~Farlo Talk 22:33, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Ok I've added the links to the other navs within each pane, and i'll change the categories now later :P --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 15:40, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Hidden or Shown by default?[edit]

I thought, especially with the size of Prophecies, it'd be better to have the nav collapsed by default, but using it to move around, I find myself wishing it was expanded. Maybe it's just me, so I won't go changing stuff unless there's more input :P ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 16:56, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Nav Navigation[edit]

Eventually we're going to have quite a few more navs for all the maps and I was trying to think of a way to organize them. This was my first idea, centered under the actual maps. Disregard my retardation with tables: only the words Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North, and Beyond should be bold.

Regions Towns Guild Halls Competitive/PvP Elite Areas
Prophecies: Explorables Missions Factions: Explorables Missions
Nightfall: Explorables Missions Eye of the North: Explorables Dungeons
Beyond: War in Kryta Winds of Change

Sure that looks fine. I have to admit I find the navbars clunky for this project :/ hate how the page resizes once they autohide. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 21:03, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Well aren't you a wizard. I thought I tried that fix, whatever. Them loading and then adjusting has always bugged me too, but isn't that something all of the basic navbars do? ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 21:26, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
I must be an idiot, when I try putting that table inside the other one, everything breaks. I figured it out! Can I have a cookie? ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 21:29, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Just a small note to say I implemented a different layout to the above today. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 15:39, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Isn't this supposed to be the Regional maps navbar?[edit]

Why are we creating a new navbar? Shouldn't the title be Regional maps navbar (or something like that)? After all, isn't that the wiki default towards which this project aimed at all along? – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:43, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

We aren't making a new navbar, we've just been using the region's talk page for discussion since it was the first I made. I added links to the rest of the interactive map navs to the bottom of the navs. We had them there before, but I suggested we clean it up and have all the links organized. ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 04:05, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Shown by default?[edit]

Should we? The Navs nav links back to the actual template page, so it almost functions as a page itself and I don't mind having it shown underneath a map, scrolling vertically isn't a problem. Either that or do one of those includeonly, noinclude things so going to the page itself shows an open table while the transcluded one is closed. ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 19:11, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
