Beguiling Haze[edit]
Elite Spell. Shadow Step to target foe. That foe becomes Dazed for 3...8...9 seconds.
For a little change-of-pace, I thought I'd skip Dagger Mastery and Deadly Arts to take a look at Shadow Arts. I enjoy elites that are not used as much better then regular meta ones.
This elite looks worse then it really is. It's one use is that of the five unconditional dazing skills, it's the only one that hits instantly, it's a spell so it's not as easy to counter as Spear Swipe or Broad Head Arrow, and it shadow-steps you, putting you in a good position for a chain. The 15e cost is high but Daze is a strong condition, it's no higher...okay, these comparisons are getting annoying. I'm going to add in a chart comparing all the unconditional daze skills. Give me a second to figure out how to do it, and I'll be right back.
Skill | Energy Cost | Recharge | Daze Duration (at rank 15) | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Broad Head Arrow | 15 | 15 | 20 | Always moves slower than normal, making it easy to avoid |
Smoke Trap | 10 | 20 | 10 | Is a trap. Also inflicts blind (same duration) |
Beguiling Haze | 15 | 20 | 9 | Also Shadow Steps you to your target |
Temple Strike | 15 | 20 | 10 | Also inflicts blind (same duration). Must follow a lead attack. |
Spear Swipe | 10 | 20 | 10 | Also deals damage. Has melee range. Isn't elite |
Wasn't as hard as I thought it might be. As you can see, B-Haze has highest energy, longest recharge, and shortest daze of all the skills (BTW, Spear Swipe needs a nerf. Sure it's melee range, but a non-elite shouldn't be THAT good). But, an insta-daze like that is nothing to sneeze at. This skills main benefit is the intangible value of instantly dazing a foe, and that is pretty hard to weigh. It's a decent skill.
Hidden Caltrops[edit]
Elite Hex Spell. Your non-Assassin skills are disabled for 10 seconds. For 1...8...10 seconds, target foe moves 50% slower. When this hex ends that foe is Crippled for 1...12...15 seconds
This is a nice little PvP elite. The non-assassin skill disabling is annoying, but can be easily circumvented. The energy cost is manageable and the real thing I like is that it requires both a hex removal and a condition removal to fully get rid of this.
Shadow Form[edit]
Elite Enchantment Spell. For 5...18...21 seconds, you cannot be the target of enemy spells, and you gain 5 damage reduction for each Assassin enchantment on you. You cannot deal more than 5...21...25 damage with a single skill or attack.
