Barry’s Icedome lies in the middle of the Maguuma Jungle. Once a shrine dedicated to Melandru but now a cursed frozen wasteland where the most dangerous animals of Tyria roam free.

Barry’s Icedome used to be called Maguuma Shrine. One of the most remote but also most beautiful places in the Maguuma Jungle. The shrine was famous for the druids that lived there. Healers dedicated to Melandru. People across whole Tyria came to this place to be cured from their deceases that not even the greatest of monks could cure. The only thing the druids asked in return was an animal offering to the god of nature and earth. The animals, hunted from across Tyria where brought here to be offered to Melandru in exchange for the cure of the sick.

In the year 1175AE a traveler came to the shrine. He appeared to be an ordinary young ranger. He walked to the table used for offering and climbed on top of it. The druids tried to run to him to get him off the table but they felt like they where frozen in place. The traveler took a deep breath and said:

“I am here to stop your foolish behavior, what kind of god could demand the killing of innocent creatures. I am saying this only once to make sure your listening. From this moment no more animals will be sacrificed at this shrine. Or else you will suffer the wrath of the Twilight Gods.”

The Traveler stepped off the table and walked into the forest. Now the druids where able to move again. They looked at each other and started laughing. “Twilight gods? Don’t make me laugh! This is the will of Melandru, no fake god is going to tell us what to do.”

They continued with the preparations for the next sacrifice. A beautiful white wolf. The druids made sure that the wolf was tightly bound to the sacrificial table and begun to say their prayers. The head druid walked to the table holding the knife used for sacrificing. He raised his hand and looked to the sky. “O great god of nature witness the sacrifice we are willing to make for your guidance. I offer you the soul of this wolf so we may cure the sick and heal the wounded.” After saying that he looked at the wolf and with one fast swipe he slashed it’s throat.

Suddenly a cold wind swept across the shrine and behind the sacrificial table stood the traveler. “You have ignored my warning and killed an other innocent. For this I will destroy this shrine and you will make you suffer for eternity. This place shall become your frozen tombs.”

The traveler spread his arms and an even colder wind swept trough the shrine freezing everything on its path. The druids looked in awe as they felt there limbs become frozen. All they could do was pray to Melandru, but there was no response.

This land now belongs to the animals killed by the druids. Anyone foolish enough to enter will wander what once was a beautiful shrine but now is nothing more than a frozen wasteland. Only those with exceptional skill and spirits will be able to reach the center of the shrine. On the sacrificial table has he made his throne. The traveler that rules the shrine. The god of ice, Barry Moonfang.''
