Question then[edit]

I just used the T: Guild Cleanup link and when I then tried to go back a page, I inserted the {{guild cleanup}}-tag again. Is this something I'm going to have to get used to, i.e. clicking on Special:Recent changes again instead of hitting back twice, or is there a simple solution possible? -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 18:10, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

At the moment, the way the script works means you'll have to get used to it. I might alter this in the future though. Ale_Jrb (talk) 21:55, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
I think a your problem could be related to "go back"-behavior of your browser. Using Opera, if I go back script is not executed again. Could it be that if you go back script is re-executed? Don't know wether this behavior can be blocked. - MSorglos 07:35, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that probably is what happens, and no, I've got no idea whether FF has a function to NOT execute script on a back-command. It would be nice to find out, perhaps I'll have the almighty google take a look into it. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 11:03, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Maybe it should be mentioned somewhere telling people not to use the back button after using some of GuildWatch's functions. -- ab.er.rant sig 16:01, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Suggested tag:[edit]

{{Redbetter}}

Useful, for me at least. User Blastedt sig.jpgBLASTEDT 23:54, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I'll add this at some later date, soon. Ale_Jrb (talk) 10:02, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Yay! -happy squiggles- Oh, I turned into an annoying teenager at 1:30 this morning :0 power to burfdais! User Blastedt sig.jpgBLASTEDT 19:29, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
This has been added in version 1.02b. Ale_Jrb (talk) 11:34, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
yey. User Blastedt sig.jpgBLASTEDT 01:07, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Your link to guildwatch in 1.02c[edit]

Goes to the page User:Ale jrb/Guild Watch instead of User:Ale jrb/GuildWatch doh! --Lemming64 17:06, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks :) Ale_Jrb (talk) 17:08, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Image tags[edit]

How about adding the image tags {{arenanet image}}, {{user image}} and {{guild image}} to the list of possible tags. As the list of tags is increasing, perhaps there could be a possibility to comment/de-comment some tags in the user part of monobook.js. This is not pressing, but I think it would be a nice feature. Another possibility to reduce the amount of new tags asked for, is just putting in an user-tag function that the user can configure itself in the monobook.js. Thanks in advance. Improvements[edit]

Hi, don't know wether you have seen User_talk:Krakko... 4 taggings that image has to be deleted. Perhaps one solution could be to change the image tags not only to give a link to the image which does not confirm, but also give a hint how picture naming should look like. (Second textfield for that info?). I saw you were testing something about picture moving, perhaps that is the other possibility :-) Second one: revert template: is it possible to add a reason for that revert? - MSorglos (talk|contrib) 09:45, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

I'll look into it :) Ale_Jrb (talk) 09:50, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, but don't forget your exams ;-) - MSorglos (talk|contrib) 09:54, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Ya - I'm not busy at this exact second, but additions will probably wait until after next week now =/. Anyway, ya. Ale_Jrb (talk) 09:57, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Moving images[edit]

Hi, I've tried using your plugin to move images, but it didn't work out. It brought up the upload a file page, but instead of typing in names in the fields there, a little bar called "Fast search" ("Snabbsökning") was opened at the bottom of the Firefox window and it typed everything there and nothing else happened. I'm running a swedish version of Firefox, if that would do any difference. I hope this can be fixed, or you can at least find what's making it fail and tell me to use an english version of Firefox instead ;) - anja talk (contribs) 16:51, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

aye, it's been opening quick search for me too, not every time though -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 18:22, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Tested again, this time it wrote parts of the text in the correct places, but when writing "Moving from.." in the summary it stopped at http: and started writing in quick search (that's the right english name...) again. - anja talk (contribs) 19:05, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
The problem sounds like fun. ;) If you get the image move to work I'll probably start using it. -- Gem (gem / talk) 21:00, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Btw, would you like to make sure this works on Opera? *puppy eyes* -- Gem (gem / talk) 21:04, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
I have exams at University all this week, so I don't see any fixes coming until next week. I'll have a look at what's causing it though, and see if I can get a fix up some time soon :). Other browsers will come afterwards (and btw, Firefox > All :P). Ale_Jrb (talk) 21:14, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, no hurry. And I do have FF and IE7 aswell. I change my preference all the time, but currently I prefer Opera due to a few nifty possibilities. -- Gem (gem / talk) 21:15, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Ya, I do have Opera installed, but it has rendering issues with some of my favourite websites (which is probably their fault, as Opera is the best renderer, but it is still annoying...) so I don't use it much. Anywayyyy, thought I'd say that. Ale_Jrb (talk) 21:26, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Just wanted to make sure you know about the problem :) No hurry, university is quite important :P - anja talk (contribs) 21:37, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
By the way, I tested this with the Swedish version of Firefox and I got the problem you are describing. At the moment, I have only tested (and got it working) with the English Firefox, so if you use that you might have more luck. Ale_Jrb (talk) 22:13, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

(reset indent)If you want to help, you could upload a screenshot of your Firefox interface, so I can see what is in common :). You can place links here, or email me. Ale_Jrb (talk) 22:17, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

I am using the english version, also, if you didn't know, quick find is enabled by the '/' key -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 22:30, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
With Firefox interface, did you mean this? - anja talk (contribs) 16:40, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, thanks. I'll change the plugin on Tuesday. Ale_Jrb (talk) 19:01, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Got the new version, still not working for me. Oh well -.- -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 18:59, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
What happens? Did you uninstall the other one first? Try uninstalling it then reinstalling it. Ale_Jrb (talk) 21:47, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
It typ in the google search field, or in the address field. I tried both installing on top (repair) and uninstalling and reinstalling, same thing. I'll do another test, with a reboot between uninstalling reinstalling. I might have used the wrong file. - anja talk (contribs) 23:24, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
What's it trying to type? Ale_Jrb (talk) 06:22, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Either the location of the file to be uploaded or the "moving noticifaction" text. Going to the upload page worked fine, but there it mostly mess up when typing out all locations and text parts, different ways each time. - anja talk (contribs) 10:17, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Retried after reboot and reinstall. Now it runs smoothly in the background and instead of an upload page I got to the "Moving an image, please wait" article, but the image did not get uploaded, and the image I was trying to move didn't get a delete tag. - anja talk (contribs) 10:21, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

(RI) That's a little weird >.< - I've uploaded a small debug version of the program here. Replace the executable in the program files directory with this one, then run it and put it into debug mode (right click the icon). Try moving an image again, and let me know where it gets stuck. Thanks. Ale_Jrb (talk) 08:21, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Seems to work just fine now, launches IE and tries to do everything. Except the fact that I never use IE and I'm not automatically logged in to wiki there. As an anon, I can't upload files, and I have to put in a CAPTCHA for the delete notice, since it contains external links. ;) Might want to note that in your instructions :) I'm trying again while logged in in IE, but I'm surprised if it doesn't work now. :) - anja talk (contribs) 08:44, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
(edit) Ok, third time I tried somehow the image didn't get uploaded, but a delete notice was placed. I can't see where it went wrong, though :( More testing. - anja talk (contribs) 08:54, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
I forgot to say you have to be logged into IE. You don't have to use it, as it will keep it hidden in the background usually, so that isn't really a problem. I have no idea why it wouldn't be uploading it though... Ale_Jrb (talk) 11:54, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Source code for GuildWatchPC.exe[edit]

Is the source code for this program available? I'm not asking if it's been released with an open source license (even though that would be ideal); even simply making the code available for review to anyone interested would be great. --Dirigible 15:06, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

I'll consider it. Is there any particular reason why? Ale_Jrb (talk) 16:12, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Would it be possible to modify the program that it integrates into FF through an AddOn? (.xpi) -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 23:33, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Possibly, but I haven't the faintest idea how... Ale_Jrb (talk) 07:35, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
I'll look into it... :) Ale_Jrb (talk) 08:51, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
I'll think it'll be easier as a GreaseMonkey user script than as an add-on itself. -- ab.er.rant sig 18:12, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, one practical reason to open-source your code would be that any of us could create said Fx addon/GreaseMonkey script instead of you. :) —Tanaric 18:46, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Feel free to create it - if you did so, it would be totally unrelated to how the current mini-program works, so you'd have no problems :P. In the meantime, I will update the program as it is currently to launch its own IE window which it will have much greater control over, and is browser independent for the user, so long as IE is installed (and IE being installed is already a prerequisite, soo...) Ale_Jrb (talk) 18:49, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
IE? ugh, can't we just find a way to disable quickfind? I don't use it anyway -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 07:55, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Don't worry - you don't have to use IE lol, it just has to be installed on your computer. It moved the images totally in the background - you don't even see the IE window :). Ale_Jrb (talk) 15:01, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
So, this is already implemented? Because I tried recently (with newly installed GuildWatchPC.exe) and it's still the same problems :( - anja talk (contribs) 15:33, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Sometimes it doesn't update - you have to totally uninstall the first one first. Ale_Jrb (talk) 19:44, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Broken link[edit]

Hi, you have a small error in your contributions link which results in a 404. (guildwars.org --> guildwars.com) --Toxik 16:23, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Er, where's that? Ale_Jrb (talk) 16:42, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
"View my contributions" in your sidebar in your user main page. - anja talk (contribs) 16:47, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
^_^ - thanks all. Fixed. Ale_Jrb (talk) 16:49, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Delete update[edit]

Hi Alejrb, the delete template has recently been updated to include a second variable in a similar fashion to the guild clean up tag, It is to give a 3 day window for pages to be saved by another editor. I was wondering if you could slip the update into guild watch :) Your everlasting worshipper --Lemming64 12:32, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Will do :) Ale_Jrb (talk) 19:01, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi Ale, the delete orphaned reason does not have the time code stamp on it, just thought I would let you know in case you missed it :) Thanks again --Lemming64 23:43, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Whoa[edit]

I was you for a minute. Look! Possible a cookie mistake? --Chiaro 19:20, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh noes! That happened to me earlier today actually... I can't remember who I was (not you) but it was really weird! :O Ale_Jrb (talk) 19:22, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
It happened again! Whenever I go to the main page, I'm you. Don't know why. It's just the Main Page. Whenever I go to another page I revert back to myself. --Chiaro 19:23, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Okay, now when I go to the main page, I'm "Tom the battler". Odd. Well, if you change identity, message me back. --Chiaro 19:24, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeh happens to me too, in fact I was just Ale jrb too! --Lemming64 19:28, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

WikiSwap[edit]

Seeing as I used a lot of your GuildWatch code as reference (importScript was rather helpful), I thought you might be interested in WikiSwap. I got sick of switching between GuildWiki and this one, so threw it together last night. Any input would be appreciated :) AT(talk | contribs) 07:39, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

GuildWatch Home link[edit]

Your link in summary "... using GuildWatch" still points to User:Ale jrb#GuildWatch instead of User:Ale jrb/GuildWatch. Your as a note for you. - MSorglos (talk|contrib) 19:14, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll fix this some time soon =) Ale_Jrb (talk) 19:45, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

speedy deletion code[edit]

there have been some more changes to the deletion template to include a parameter for articles requiring speedy deletion instead of the 3 day waiting period. --Lemming64 16:17, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

The redbetter template has been deleted, so you might want to remove it from GuildWatch or change the functionality to use the regular delete template. :) -- Gem (gem / talk) 11:56, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
