Symbolic Strike[edit]

Hello Gelbrekt, how are you ? Today I had nothing better to do than spend a bit of time on the wiki and watch some of your builds again (I know there are always very interesting to look at) and I stumbled on the symbolic strike one.

It is actually a very good, cool and funny build, with symbolic strike doing that awesome +70 damage, which can be even more awesome because it is a melee attack so wielding a scythe it will be duplicated on each foe struck (3*70 damage), plus it goes well with onslaught for an ims+ias+adrenaline management bar compression.

10 earth prayers for one skill, moreover a healing skill which also removes onslaught, sounds like a counter-productive waste to me... And why did you choose dervish over warrior as a primary ? I know that +3/4 in scythe mastery is a great boost, but warriors get you higher armor, access to strength for armor penetration and boost dolyak's signet (higher armor, longer duration) and signet of strength (additional damage). Energy is no problem with a zealous scythe under onslaught for such a low energy build...

Last but not least, I believe Battle Rage to be a better choice than Onslaught, since you can use symbolic strike every three attacks under it, while the small +25% adrenaline from onslaught actually makes no difference (you get 1 adrenaline charge after 4 attacks, which is wasted since symbolic strike is already charged by then). You need to fuel it first, but it is harder to remove a stance than an enchantment. Alternatively, "For Great Justice!" is non elite, unstrippable and can be used right from the start.

In a nutshell, I think this would be better :

Hey! You put up alot of good poins and I fully agree on most of what you are saying. The reason why I chose Signet of Pious Light was because all signets for warrior/dervishes seemed pretty weak for this build. I also think that Signet of Strength is pretty weak since it (if i have understood it correctly) only deals about 80 damage in total every 46 seconds. Signet of Strength seems like one of the best choices though, especially if you are not going to get those 10 earth prayers and use Pious Light every 10 seconds. The only skill i could imagine to be equally good, depending on the situation, would be Signet of Stamina. Even though it ends when you attack, it could work as an (almost) instant save if used when you are close to dying.--Gelbrekt (talk) 17:55, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
Good point, the +300 HP from Signet of stamina can be a good insurance especially against armor-ignoring damage and degen which bypasses armor and therefore dolyak signet's bonus. You can bring it in place of one of your res (if you need 2 res, it is not really your build that requires modification).
Signet of strength has a long recharge but infinite duration, it seems to scream "pre-cast me !". In my view it is more like 80 bonus damage for each fight. In combat, it could turn out that the time activating the signet isn't really worth it dps-wise.
If I could add something about anything, it would be Inspirational Speech support. At 3 motivation it gives 2 adrenaline strikes, and the 20s recharge (no casting time) is less than the 25s before adrenaline fades, which means that you can get battle rage ready for the next fight in 20s.
I share your point of view about the fact that it is sad that there aren't more signets, a purge signet or antidote signet to counter anti-melee or a signet of Agression to keep adrenaline up by yourself between fights would have been nice. On the bright side, you have high dps, res signet and a signet build that isn't affected by Ignorance and other annoying things. ;)--Ruine User Ruine Eternelle Ruine Eternelle.jpg Eternelle 11:07, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
