Small suggestion

When you answer a question on the wiki, could you please wait a few hours, or maybe even a day before archiving? Having to look back into the history of this page or searching through your archives can be difficult and with a delay before archiving we likely wouldn't need to. Thanks, — Teh Uber Pwnzer 19:40, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion noted, but if the amount of discussion here makes the talk page super big and unwieldy, I'll tidy up as needed. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 21:55, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Does anyone from either ArenaNet or NCSoft read the suggestions page anymore? It might give us another place to post our ideas. There are some good, and some bad ones there, but knowing we could place them there and still have them read might keep your page a little smaller. Ghosst 13:48, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

A little mistake

Excuse me Regina, but i made a embaresing mistake on one of the male mesmer armour galleries. I put shing jea armour set pictures into the ascolon set. I tried to delete the pcitures but it didnt work. Then i noticed there was a link saying "Upload a new version of this file". I got my ascalon set and tried to upload the correct pictures but it didnt work... All im asking is if u can give me a few pointers as soon as possible.--Protector Yereton 08:59, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. Non-admin users cannot delete uploaded images. You can stick a {{delete|reason goes here}} tag at the top and an admin will take care of it for you. Also, because of caching issues, images can take up to an hour to update, so please be patient. Constantly reuploading the same image will not have any effect. Oh, one last point, if you need technical help with the wiki, this is where you want to ask your questions. Kokuou 09:03, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Oh so that's what all those uploads were :P. Don't worry, images take about an hour to update. Btw for future reference, ask Emily for anything that's website related (main gw site and wiki). --MageUser MageMontu sig.pngMontu 09:05, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

thnx guys =D--Protector Yereton 09:19, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Can't anybody move images to a different title just like normal pages? ~Shard (talk) 10:24, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Not with the current version of MediaWiki. -- Gordon Ecker 10:38, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

It's possible to undo image uploads -- if you look at the File History, there will be a table with a list of every uploaded version of that image. Just click on "revert" next to the version you'd like to revert to. (You can check it's the version you want by clicking on the date.) --Mme. Donelle 11:25, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, images can be reverted and de-reverted, just not moved to new names. -- Gordon Ecker 23:11, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
imo it's a bad version of mediawiki then, if the image hoster can't correct an error like that. When's next one out? Napalm Flame 13:35, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Archiving

Can I ask you not to archive active topics? Such as (Only one I bothered looking for as I posted in it) " Its raining... BEES!?!? O_o". It's not nice wiki etiquette, and, unless I read it wrong, also against policy (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_Wiki:User_page#User_talk_page_restrictions).
I know this case wasn't very serious, and this page gets more attention than other talk pages, but it's still annoying. Thanks.
I just hope I won't get flamed to death by fanboys like J. Kougar! -- Mini Me talk 20:39, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

It says nothing about it not being allowed, but it surely is anoying. As it says older comments as your talk page gets longer...68.151.16.139 20:41, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
A: Archiving active topics is not against the rules.
B: She didn't archive it, she just accidentally killed the heading while archiving other topics. I put the heading back, so go on about your business. - Tanetris 21:07, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
A: Yeah, 68 already said that.
B: Well, thank you Tanetris :P Archiving gone screwy, apparently. Still, I notice you archive some active discussions, whcih I can't remember from the top of my head, so yeah. -- Mini Me talk 21:08, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Did you even read the section of policy that you quoted, or did you just find something that worked in your favor and decide not to read the rest? Quoted from right underneath the section of policy you thought Regina was violating: "You are permitted to archive older comments as your talk page gets longer." If you're going to quote policy, at least take the time to read the whole thing. Not only is she allowed to archive, but it's almost required on a page like this because wikis tend to have problems when saving large pages. Kokuou 21:12, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
I'd say (and I hope Regina is reading this), if it's still active, archive whats there (still leaving the subject header) and leave a link to where it's archived, but still let the discussion go on. -- User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png Wolf User Great Darkwolf UserImage.jpg 21:16, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
No wolf that becomes segmented and hard to follow. Either archive the full topic or not at all IMHO. Otherwise you just open the gates for the same stuff being put in over and over. As for whats active and whats in-active, most people use the "last post being 3 days or more ago" rule, obviously also their are cases where the user has requested the discussion to be taken else where and off their page (such as ursan rants). Oh and on a side note, mini me, could you try not to start flame wars by calling people fan bois and the like, as you really are just inviting troll fests. -- Salome User salome sig.png 03:54, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes Kokou, I read that part. Notice the "older comments" part in that line? She sometimes archives stuff not even a day old. So please, instead of telling me to read, read it yourself, first.
Salome: Yeah, sorry :p -- Mini Me talk 13:56, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately with a page like Regina's, it gets long very fast, which means she not only has to archive more often than other users, but if she doesn't do so, it can cause problems with some browsers. Most of the topics she archives prematurely are things like Ursan topics, which she's already commented on as much as she can at this point and has stated that any further topics will be archived immediately. As for your topic, she accidentally killed the title, that's all. I actually misread your first comment, though; I didn't see the "active" after "archive." Sorry about that. m(-_-)m I have to stop working until 4am and then coming on the wiki. Kokuou 21:43, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

ummm

That was quite the archive ... are not allowed to even discuss ideas about GW2 like the Nostalgia thread and 7 heroes? ~Crazy Canuck 16:54, 24 July 2008 (UTC)~

I didn't realise I deleted that? When I reloaded the page, those topics were gone. Ugh. This isn't my morning. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 16:59, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
ROFL ... just wondering. I was kind of shocked to see it vanish, and wondered if it was a banned topic or something. ~Crazy Canuck 17:01, 24 July 2008 (UTC)~
No. I'm really sorry about that. I sliced my finger open last night on a can, and my mousing hand is pretty impaired. I think I messed up and highlighted too much text when I was archiving. Could someone help me out with this? --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 17:03, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
lol, that's wierd, I broke my baby toe (man, I didn't remember I had one until I broke it) last night. But my mousing seems to be fine (cause I use my nose for that eh!) so I will edit it back into a reasonable format. ~Crazy Canuck 17:09, 24 July 2008 (UTC)~
Thanks a bunch! I'm really sorry about that, again. :-( --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 17:13, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
And that sucks about your toe. I hope it's not too bad! --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 17:15, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Meh, I'm a man, I just pulled it straight again and am now limping a little. We're silly that way, doctors are for QQers. As for the finger, I hate doing that. Usually happens when I make my wife dinner, but that's another story.
Had to laugh though, here I was saying I should be jaded and then, poof! topic gone. I'm sitting going, wow, that was a big giant neon sign... lol. ~Crazy Canuck 17:20, 24 July 2008 (UTC)~
PS: edit is complete now. ~Crazy Canuck 17:20, 24 July 2008 (UTC)~
Conclusion: Write less so Regina will have to Archive less :P — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o 17:50, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, Crazy Canuck. I'll refrain from too much archiving till my hand is a little better. And I was going to help Linsey with Ursan testing today as well. :-( --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 17:53, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
hmm, maybe it's a sign... ~Crazy Canuck 18:03, 24 July 2008 (UTC)~
Hmm, last time I went to the doctor, was about 4 years ago, when I wrecked my bike and broke both the bones in my forearm, duel compound fracture (for thos enot medically inclined, snapped both bones clean in two, and they then proceded to pierce the skin O.O). After that incident, I went to the ER, then the OR and had the sucker plated back together. I now have 2 7" titanium plates attached to both bones with about 8 screws each. Funs stuff. As for the archiving, happens to the best of us. Regina, sometime you should head over to my talk-page and have a look. I have an archive just for my policy plunders, and it's quite big, probably the majority of my talk XD. Also, I'm sorry to hear about the finger, that kinda stuff realy sucks >.<. I'm a Java coder, and lacking one finger to type with cuts my typing speed and accuracy in half atleast. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 18:28, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Tip: If you slice your finger and need a quick fix to close it, try Super Gluing it. Really. I'm a string player, and there's nothing worse that slicing open a finger tip on your left hand the night of a concert. Can't help with broken limbs though. Toes, yes. Tape them and they get better--unless they're broken at very weird angles. Agreed that sometimes archiving happens. *shrug* ceolstan 04:02, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Lol, superglue rocks. Little known fact, it was originaly developed as an instant skin bonder, then they realized it will glue anything together. I cut or knick myself, on goes a drop of superglue, then a small strip of ducktape. Worlds best bandage. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 04:39, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh... Omen of things to happen... MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 18:29, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Guildwars is about to be bloodied and broken because of a few boisterous posters on a wiki interested only in how hard they worked for titles... lol
Regina, only you can stop this Nightfall - let the Ursans live!! heheheh ~Crazy Canuck 16:54, 24 July 2008 (UTC)~

(Reset indent) Naw, I'm sure it will still work when they are done with it. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 18:52, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

BTW, justa heads-up Regina, you missed the tail-end of this conversation. I went back in the history, picked it up and tacked it back on the end of the conversation in the archived, so it's already fixed, but I just thought I'd let ya know. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 19:21, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
i hope no one minds, there were duplicate topics taged onto the bottom so i copied the most resent changes and merged them with the old ones.75.165.101.71 06:20, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
That's what makes the wiki such a great communtiy place, everyone looking out for eacother and helping manage the pages. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 13:49, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the help, everyone. My finger's much better now. Apologies for not being able to archive on Friday. I had a family emergency that day and during the weekend, but I'm back at work today. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 16:54, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
hope everything's alright.Arthas Kaa 19:24, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Active question pending archived?

Regina, i had an active question posted here today, is it answered and archived allready? Where is it archived too so i can read the answer please? --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 22:23, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

The history log is your friend. Start checking from the point the archiving began and you will find out. Using the compare between revisions helps to speed the process.--Fighterdoken 22:27, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Not a "friend" more a "reluctant help tool". Thanx though Fighterdoken!--Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 10:21, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
