To be honest, I think navigation templates should be standardized like that, so they're all expandable - many other wikis do this, and for good reason. After you get enough pages, and enough different navigation to put on those pages, it becomes quite an eye sore. The only thing is, with the amount of pre-existing navigation templates that we actually "see" on the wiki (such as sweets, alcohol, etc.), the project would take quite awhile for just one person (my current rule of editing here is that if it feels too much like work for too long, I probably won't do it).

That being said, the project would be quite simple to achieve.

Step One - add the code to make each navigation collapsible, add the code each column expandable. In the process, you'll be adding the arguments to each navigation.

Step Two - add the usage section, for the new template arguments.

Step Three - implement the usage section changes on every item that belongs to that navigation.

As I've said elsewhere, step one and two really aren't that difficult to complete. Step three is simply exponentially more and more annoying as time goes on.

I think it would be easier still if we had something like {{STDT}} for navigation templates, e.g. something that applied to the table style, to the spacing above and below (including the <HR&rt; rule), and to the rows; we already reuse the same code for each of those bits now, with relatively few variations. So, e.g. {{navbar header}}, {{navbar table style}}, {{navbar special row style}}, {{navbar footer}}...or something along those lines

If you are willing to start off creation of the templates, I'm willing to start (and do a lot of the work) to apply them to some of the more popular navbars. (And, I'm sure, others will catch on later.) I can imitate/recycle someone else's work, but I'm usually not very good at initializing the templates etc. (That said, I would well understand if this holds little/no appeal for you.)  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:51, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Templates are a work in progress, you can take a look at them there if you want. I still need a few more templates for special columns, etc - but frankly after trouble shooting for so long, I'll do it at some other point. It was getting to the point where I was so irritated that I didn't even bother checking IP contribs, and apparently Raine didn't even bother doing a CheckUser - it's not her fault, though. She was tired, we were in guild wars, I told her to ban proxy, she banned "proxy". Ryuu - lol wiki 01:07, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
