Let's start anew[edit]

Hello Smiley-1, I have been rather harsh with your edits. Trying to delete the page you were working on wasn't nice from me. You came recently and have already done a good chunk of useful work with the "what's new?" page. It's clear that you want to improve the wiki. I do too and I think it is for the best if we can reach mutual respect. Let's set away our griefs and start from a fresh new basis, if you agree. - - Ruine User Ruine Eternelle Ruine Eternelle.jpg Eternelle 18:37, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

requirements[edit]

Howdy, there's a difference between prophecies primary qs and missions versus prophecies secondary qs and stuff in the other campaigns:

For the former, the "preceded by" / "followed by" info in the info box is little more than how the storyline should be played. For everything else it really means what is required. Check out Blood and smoke which doesn't get ofered until the prereq q is done. Same with The misplaced sword. So for your edits the info is actually already there. So I'm gonna remove it again since it's redundant. Cheers, Steve1 (talk) 18:19, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

I've added it as it is an explicit requirement. Also, after all, the quest is at best preceded by the Dragon's Lair, after which you'll usually get to Droknar's forge. So it's the infobox which is misleading. Augury Rock is still required - even if you get rushed to Droks. --Smiley™ de: user | talk 18:34, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
But that's exactly what I meant. Blood and smoke won't be offered until Dropping eaves is completed. So there the preced by and followed by info is as correct as in Factions and Nightfall. And those two quests you edited become available after Augury's Rock and not Dragon's lair even though you will have done DL before you get to DF if not skipping things, so the predeced by is correct as well. So i've chatted with an unnamed wiki editor about this and they agree that the infobox "preceded by" especially in Prohecies can be misleading as it not always indicates a requirement. Also, that the average reader would usually follow what's listed under "requirements", rather than also take the infobox into account - which in my opinion only adds context. --Smiley™ de: user | talk 19:22, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
Oh, I agree about the inconsitency in prophecies. That's what I wrote in my original post. If you're going to change it in those 2 Qs you will be busy changing quite a few quest pages though. To make htings consitent with the other campaigns it would make more sense to change the info box for the primary Qs and the missions in prophecies. We cleaned up the inconsitencies in pre-searing a while back and there preceded by really means that you need to complete that Q before the next one gets offered. Steve1 (talk) 19:35, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
It's so funny because the wiki expects readers to rather take the infobox into account as requirement (which by the way is only important for this attribute quest to progress) while it's only a requirement in few cases, rather than have a line or two "redundant" info in a handful of articles, which in fact isn't redundant at all? smh my head. If i had the time and motivation to counter all the redundancy discussions i'd totally go through all the relevant articles. --Smiley™ de: user | talk 19:51, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
What do you mean by "which by the way is only important for this attribute quest to progress". In most cases teh preceded by really lists requirements. Not just in a few cases. I pointed out some examples above. But you can take pretty much any Q in Factions, Nightfall or EotN for more. I'm really not following you. As I said, imo the inconsitencies are the prophecies primary Q and missions - and that's it. Steve1 (talk) 20:12, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

What i'm saying is that in this case you need to meet several requirements to access an important part of the game (15 attribute points, changing secondary profession) - while there may be several other inconsistencies re Proph, it is a really important bit in the 2 quests offered by Vanyi. --Smiley™ de: user | talk 20:16, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
