Middle
Why'd you change the valign from center to middle? - BeXoR 14:48, 16 March 2007 (EDT)
- Because according to here and here "center" isn't valid and I assumed you meant "middle". -Smurf 15:01, 16 March 2007 (EDT)
- I didn't know it wasn't valid, but it was working in Firefox at least. - BeXoR 23:53, 18 March 2007 (EDT)
Dance Animation
Hello, are you the one who made and uploaded those amazing dance gifs on the GWiki? If so, would you also be willing to upload them to this one? They are gorgeous *_* Amazing work there. Erasculio 11:51, 17 March 2007 (EDT)
- There you go. :) -Smurf 12:41, 17 March 2007 (EDT)
- Thank you very much! I love those little gifs : ) Erasculio 21:25, 17 March 2007 (EDT)
White background chunk
Hey Smurf, how did you add the white background chunk? I wish I'd known about that earlier! LordBiro 20:20, 21 March 2007 (EDT)
- You can do it in GIMP by changing the 2nd (background) color to white and when you save it in PNG format make sure "Save background color" is checked. But with LordBiro's icons I used TweakPNG so I wouldn't touch anything else. And with that you just goto Insert->bKGD then double click it and change it to white.-Smurf 20:12, 21 March 2007 (EDT)
- I forgot to log in :) You are a king among men, Smurf! LordBiro 20:20, 21 March 2007 (EDT)
guildwars.com style
wow, that looks really nice, mind if I use it? -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 12:29, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
- I don't mind at all. There are still some things I forgot to style but it's a start :) -Smurf 12:33, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
- Wow indeed. It looks great! Wonder if it'd be appropriate to have that as a skin selectable from Preferences. --Dirigible 12:34, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
- new message to test style,again! -Smurf 12:50, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
- Yeah, just
nickedborrowed it "for testing purposes". Brilliant skin! I have the history of it on RSS so I can keep it up-to-date. The only major problem is how it deals with images that use white backgrounds, but that's a problem with the wiki and ANet saving all their logos as JPG files. Once again, great work! --Santax 12:57, 25 March 2007 (EDT)- Yeah there's a lot of things i've missed like styling the page difference thing. And I'll try to fix them later tonight. -Smurf 13:01, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
- I'm trying it now, and it's going to take some getting used to (the moved tabs, etc) but I have to say this looks totally awesome! Thanks for putting the work into making this it's very cool. One thing I must add though, is that background colours aren't showing up properly. For instance on my user page the backgrounds for the user boxes and the headers are transparent. Is there a way to fix that? - BeXoR 16:14, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- Yeah there's a lot of things i've missed like styling the page difference thing. And I'll try to fix them later tonight. -Smurf 13:01, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
- That was actually on purpose (including forcing all signatures to be gold) because most of the custom styling ( like the info boxes) were meant for a white background and ends up being really bright on dark background. So I made all the backgrounds inside the page transparent and all the text white. -Smurf 16:32, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- If I personally wanted to change that, what would I have to change in the css?. I notice that the gw website doesn't have transparent backgrounds for their main content and I'd like mine to look like that. 17:05, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- Though now I realise that would cover up a lot of the neat backgrounds. Can you set a transparency percentage? I have no idea how this stuff works. ;) - BeXoR 17:07, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
(ri) Try this: find this section in your monobook.css:
#bodyContent table,#bodyContent tr, #bodyContent td,#bodyContent th, #bodyContent div,#bodyContent p, #bodyContent code,#bodyContent ul {background:transparent none!important;color:#ffffee!important;}
and change the last line to have only this instead:
{color:#ffffee}
That should leave the background of the page itself transparent, while stuff like userboxes and headers will keep their background colour. --Dirigible 17:30, 26 March 2007 (EDT) Oh, and yes, you can set them to a percent transparency as well. Just change that same last line to:
{opacity: .94; color:#ffffee}
Plug in whatever percentage you want instead of that .94, and that should do the trick. --Dirigible 17:39, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- It worked but the forced white text makes it unusable that way. :P - BeXoR 20:31, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
Wow, this is awesome. A bit heavy though as my internet connection is currently having serious lag issues. And I'm not sure if I could live with it. After fixing any possible mistakes, propose this as an additional skin to the wiki. -- (gem / talk) 17:53, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- Very nice. I'm amazed at how pretty and how professional it feels. It works perfectly in Netscape, the only problem I saw is that it doesn't work in IE (here's what happens). Thank you for making this - and I agree, propose this as a new wiki skin, it's gorgeous. Erasculio 19:32, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- Your skin is amazing Smurf, been using it for like 10mins now, really amazing work. Unfortunately I've been used to the classic wiki style for years now and I just can't get used to this style, but wow, I'm a web developer and I'm very fluent in CSS but I am inmpressed :) good work! --Jamie 13:10, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
Stylesheet moved
How to update: Put
@import url("/index.php?title=User:Smurf/GuildWars.com_skin.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css") screen, projection;
into Special:Mypage/myskin.css. And then goto Special:Preferences and change your skin to MySkin.
The skin is now User:Smurf/GuildWars.com skin.css if you prefer to manually update it. The style includes a @import to include the monobook style sheet since it still depends on it (I hope to change that). So now you can easily switch to monobook and back in your preferences. And now it's easier to adjust the skin to your taste (see mine for example:User:Smurf/myskin.css). Hope this makes it easier -Smurf 13:01, 27 March 2007 (EDT)
- hold up now this site is slow for me. Is anyone else having trouble with it? I'd suggest you bookmark this if anyone wants to try it. It might be just my connection. -Smurf 13:28, 27 March 2007 (EDT)
- ok I fixed it. I guess firefox had trouble with the @import when it doesn't include a ? and another character. strange. -Smurf 14:03, 27 March 2007 (EDT)
Custom skin problem
ANet is having a problem with the custom skin you created. It uses images directly from the guildwars.com website, which sends their web team a security threat warning every time the skin loads the images. You should upload the images used to the wiki and use them from here instead. Thanks. :) -- (gem / talk) 17:10, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
- My bad, I'll go fix that right now. -Smurf 17:12, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

login name
Whenever I leave GWW and come back, my login name at the top says Smurf instead of Scourge, has anything like this happened to you? (Don't worry I can't access any of your preferences or anything like that, as soon as I click your name it disappears) -- Scourge 21:16, 17 April 2007 (EDT)
- This is an old bug that has been reported at GuildWiki many many times. -- (gem / talk) 21:46, 17 April 2007 (EDT)
- Ah good, Thought I was going crazy... -- Scourge 23:33, 17 April 2007 (EDT)
Need a few images
If you have time (and don't mind doing it) I was wondering if you could grab a few images from the game for me. Specifically I want them for the title boxes that I've made on GuildWiki. I was hoping to get a clean image of the Hard Mode mission completion icon (are these different depending on which campaign you're in? I don't know as I've just done a couple in Nightfall), the golden Hard Mode icon from completing an area, and the red icon with 1, 2 and 3 creatures in a area killed. I'm asking a lot, I know, and if you don't want to, just let me know and I'll work out a different way to get these. :) Thanks. --Rainith 23:03, 27 April 2007 (EDT)
- The hard mode icon texture doesn't include the numbers so I used the same technique as I did with the user interface images and included them also in case you want them to look exactly like ingame. I hope these are the ones you wanted File:User Smurf hardmode icons.png -Smurf 09:19, 28 April 2007 (EDT)
- Smurf, those are excellent. :) That is exactly what I had in mind. Do I have your permission to use them on GuildWiki? --Rainith 14:45, 28 April 2007 (EDT)
- Fine by me. -Smurf 14:53, 28 April 2007 (EDT)
- Cool beans. :) Hopefully I'll have time tonight to make the Vanquisher and Guardian boxes (yay for working on Saturday. *blech*) --Rainith 15:08, 28 April 2007 (EDT)
Rollerbeetle
You know the rollerbeetle picture that you loaded on guildwiki as rollerbeetle. can you please load it onto PvXbuilds?--66.142.184.3 10:30, 5 May 2007 (EDT)
- I don't have an account there (and don't feel like creating one), but feel free to transfer it over -Smurf 13:02, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
