Proxies

I'm not an IT specialist so don't quote me on this; and anyone correct me if I'm wrong. As far as I know, there are two different types of proxies. Open and closed proxies. Closed proxies are generally used by companies to allow more secure access to company networks from a remote location though authentication and often encryption, thus is not open to the public (I think they are also called VPN's). Open proxies are open to the public and anyone can use them... there are literally thousands of open proxy servers, and tons of shared IP's that are shared among them. Closed proxies generally assign specific IP addresses that belong to an organization, usually an IP range. Most common uses for open proxies are for illegitimate purposes to circumvent firewalls, site blocks, etc etc. Wikipedia even has a policy to openly use short term blocks for open proxies. So in short, shared IP's used by open proxies are not assigned to any one person but rather something anyone can use anywhere in the world. The IP's that you blocked currently belong to open proxies so that was a good call IMO :-). --Lania Elderfire 01:26, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Non-moving .gif

I figured someone who calls themselves "Why?" is open to questions...! Having found your name on the list of contributors to the skill anim project, I was hoping you could help me with my guild cape .gif? It's silver and shiny so I wanted to show it off, and made an 8-frame .gif of it rotating left to right, but it's only showing the first frame in my guild page. When I check the file it animates fine, but it just sits there on my guild page (where I really want it to move!) and does nothing... I've tried refreshing a few times in case it's a server delay, but it's been about half an hour and still no movement. --Jack Blackserpent 22:55, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

The image you uploaded is 320x320. The guild infobox automatically resizes cape images to 150 wide, and resized images don't animate. I believe trimming off some of the whitespace from the sides and shrinking it so it's 150 pixels wide then reuploading the new version will solve the problem. - Tanetris 23:09, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

he created User:Rendier's userpage with the sole intent of attacking its owner. The page has been deleted, thats why it isn't in the logs. I can provide screenshots from the deleted contribs log though if you want. I initially thought about shortening the block to one week, but seeing that the user circumvented his block just to attack another user I decided against that. Hehe. I don't like machineguns. On both my characters I found several firehawks and a volcano, setting people on fire is just too funny. Especially playing Mordekai when you pierce shields anyway so the burning always triggers. Thát's imbalanced. :P — Why 14:22, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
