Formatting[edit]

Has anyone ever explained the function of the enter key on your keyboard while typing text? That mass of characters as one single paragraph is almost unreadable. If you wish it not only to be read, but also considered by anyone needs to be broken into at least manageable paragraphs. Thanks! -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 04:54, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Your condescending tone and contextual equivalent of "tl;dr" deserves no reply. Which it is firmly receiving now. Sec Qr Euin 15:43, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Or, if you could see past your butthurting, you would realize the real issue here is that your wall of text is not close to humanely readable. Pika Fan 16:00, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm the one belly-aching? I had someone with ZERO knowledge of Guild Wars read this and a sight impediment, no less, vet its readability, and he was able to aptly reply. If you don't want to invest the time to read it, then go elsewhere, but the format is fine. Sec Qr Euin 22:24, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
I can eat 150 plates of chicken rice in a day! I have magical powers which I can use to turn back 12 hours into the past everyday! Therefore, your argument is invalid. Also, anet staff like Gaile Gray and Regina have expressed already they will not try to read wall of texts smaller than yours, which is why we are telling you to paragraph properly at the least. Is it so hard, or simply perhaps you don't have enough gray matter to perform this task? I am sure it only takes a minute or two to improve the readability of the text in order to have a better sporting chance of you know, getting your suggestions read. P.S. You can prove it by writing a wall of text of this magnitude on their talkpage. Pika Fan 02:57, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Citing feedback policy is one thing, but spewing Ad Hominems all over the discussion page seems more like trolling than suggesting. So how about a bit of civility and mutual respect, or will your ego allow you to get out of your own way long enough to aid a new Wiki user? Sec Qr Euin 04:53, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I've participated for a little longer and thought I'd just leave this [[1]] here as a parting remark, since I believe it applies her also. Sec Qr Euin 06:46, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

"and I've never seen one in a serious GvG match."[edit]

Does the tag BDV ring a bell? --User Ezekial Riddle silverbluesig.pngRIDDLE 05:52, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

It doesn't actual. Ranked under 1000? Does anyone have any replies that aren't nit-picking? Sec Qr Euin 15:44, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Just looked them up. They used the same exact team build, with the tiny bit of variance, as everyone else on the GvG circuit. Their W/E, W/Rt, R/Rt, R/N, Me/E, Mo/E (x2), Rt/E build can be seen duplicated by anyone under rank 500. If they did indeed use a Dervish/Dervishes in earlier matches and switched them out for Warriors, in the match that really counted, well then I think that speaks to my point, in and of itself. Complete viability, not experimentation, is my aim for the Dervish class. Sec Qr Euin 15:56, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Back in, iirc, May 2008 Dervs were basically the only thing run in GvG. Again, iirc, this was due to BDV running Two WS dervs along side two bitch Signet Mesmers. They tore a lot of shit up with that build, and it became meta virtually overnight. I think it was only after two updates (June 6 and July 10) that caused that build to finally start falling out of favor. Plus the August "Let's buff (nearly) every elite" update, which opened the gates for the WE Eurospike build.
So based on the observation that you missed that meta, I'm going to assume you haven't been playing (or at least PvPing) too long? --User Ezekial Riddle silverbluesig.pngRIDDLE 02:33, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I've played for all four years. There was just an unfortunate 6-8 months where I was unable to play, May 2008 being within that time period. I'm back to every day now. Sec Qr Euin 04:48, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Bear Force One also used to run a WS dervish (I still remember that player's name and skill bar!) in GvG, back before Chilling Victory stopped being amazing. Even in that build, though, the dervishes owed their success to dedicated midline (SoH on sig mesmers is what made those dervishes). If you'll compare that to [nh] with their two SoH-buffed RaO axe rangers (or WE wars, when that worked), the difference is clear: a RaO axe ranger is a fucking RaO axe ranger, SoH is on top of that; Sig Mes Wounding Strike is a scythe stuck on top of a copy of SoH. That's what dervs have consistently been in any meta they've been a part of: "A scythe stuck on a Conjure" or "A scythe stuck on Judge's Insight" or "A source of deep wound on top of a million hexes". Dervishes lean heavily on their midline to be viable – not to be amazing, but to be viable – and they're going to continue to be second-rate until either (1) Dervish + Midline Support >>> Warrior + Midline Support or (2) Dervish = Warrior. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 3:36, 20 Nov 2010 (UTC)
