Impossible![edit]

With only a 6 member team, 2 are only lv 15 (henchies), this is impossible to do. Even with a level 20 dire pet and a summoning stone added to the mix, as well as a minion master. They definitely need to tone down some of this WiK stuff (at least in normal mode), allowing for the fact that we have a smaller team and lower level henchies. It's discouraging, and hard to find real players needing the same thing or willing to help. So, I guess WiK is on hold until they implement 7 hero teams But even then, the smaller party sizes will be a handicap. Kass Munroe 04:57, 19 January 2011 (UTC) Edit: Got a real player needing the same misson. It is still very difficult with only 6 lv 20 party members (including a minion master), a lv 20 dire pet, and a summoned ally.

I guess it all depends on how suited your build(s) are to the mission. Which is something I've always had trouble with. :/ – NuclearDuckie 06:58, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
I agree, these WiK quests are just too overtuned for normal mode, it's not even funny. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.222.51.121 (talk).
Riverside Assassination is basically impossible to do, what with the linked mobs of over 10 at a time, as well as bosses, the groups of multiple healers and rezzers... and bosses, bosses with loads of health regen with the ability to one-shot you and even your whole party-....
Seriously, ANet, what the hell is this bullcrap? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 92.237.253.20 (talk).
The most important thing to remember with WiK quests/missions is that in normal mode the henchmen do more harm than good. It seems like a good idea to have 6/6 instead of 4/6 but honestly, the henchies just drain your healers energy and provide neglible healing/damage of their own. If you have/choose to do this on your own, you're better off with 3 heroes than 3 heroes + 2 henchies. Other than that, take some kind of interupter (I use a mesmer with a [Panic build]) along with a N/Rt healer and a necro MM. This provides good healing, a shield (minions), and spell disruption regardless of your own class. Ghosst I Make Dead PeopleTalk
I'm with the "impossible" crowd. I've tried any number of different combinations of heroes/henchmen, and I never make it past the first tower with my E/Me who has finished all four campaigns. I will try your suggestion about leaving the henchmen behind entirely, but I have to point out that your hero recommendations take up all three hero slots leaving no room for a monk healer or a ranger who might bring "Frozen Soil", the one skill recommended on the walkthrough page, and one skill that's very handy in this quest.- Vilepagan

I've always found the N/Rt can out heal the monk because they don't run out of energy as long as things keep dying. I used to be a fan of Frozen Soil for these missions/quests/bounties but by studying the skills the Mantle & Peacekeepers used I could find the healer (since in WiK the builds are quite varied), kill them, and then quickly kill the ress'er (usually the Savants, Champions, and Mentors). My friend uses this build for their Ele and has an easier time with it:

Please, tell us! What build did you use as a N/Rt? I am desperate!!!--75.86.37.121 20:40, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

Fire Magic: 12+2+1, Energy Storage: 10+1, Earth Prayers 8, Blessed Insignias.

The other big help was pulling the groups back from the tower as there are serveral groups that overlap on their patrols near it. By pulling them back onto the beach it makes life a lot easier. It's only very rarely I even bother with the Jade Cloak in the tower, I usually just scrape by along the edge and quickly go down the western road. It's important to not have half your party hanging out of the narrow pass because the patrols can aggro you so run right up to the small group of 2-3 on the road, kill them, and then continue onward.

Lastly, I kill the Mantle in this order: Sycophants, Savants, Priests/Abbots, then anyone with a hard res. For Peacekeepers: Firebrands, Sibyls, Mentors, Divines, Clairovoyants. Ghosst I Make Dead PeopleTalk

When the only way to beat a mission is to use gimmicks, you know it's badly designed. WiK missions need to be toned down in difficulty, it's too much as it is now. People play these games to have fun, not be frustrated. And more rez points need to be added to the missions as well. One is not enough. Level 20 enemies should not be as hard as these are, under any circumstances. --Nathe 04:49, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
I am with you 1,000% We should have a full force with us in this situation! As it sits now; it is impossible, and I am sick of this nonsense! I want to have fun. Fun does not equal death at every step.--75.86.37.121 20:36, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
Every single time someone creates a build that works it gets labelled "gimmick". The difficulty of WiK is supposed to be addressed in today's update (if it comes out on time) along with a lot of other changes. You will still have to deal with the elitists who whine about "I did it when it was hard" because they no longer feel special so be prepared for that should you contribute to the update page. Between now and Embark Beach, if you refuse to use someone else's build then you can group with other players, slog it out with consumables, or just wait. In any event, this will no longer be as difficult for players soon enough. WiK is possible, with any class, as long as you have the skills unlocked or can make your own builds. Having trouble with it is very common. Ghosst I Make Dead PeopleTalk
I do tend to make my own builds and I have finished WiK before, it was just very difficult and tedious. Glad to hear they're adjusting it. But I haven't seen any info about today's update, it's not on the main page. Where did you find it? Just wondering. --Nathe 21:29, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Not hard at all[edit]

Dunno why everyone has a problem with this. I took my ele with these skills:

Fire Magic: 12+2, Energy Storage: 12+1.

Took 5 Heroes... Jora (Warrior), Xandra (Rit), Olias (MM), Livia (Nec Battery) and Tahlkora (Prot Monk).

Had no problem at all, pulled small groups one at a time and walked in the front gate. Got it on the first try.

The key to any mission is aggro control and taking out the healers first. Lure too many and it's a wipe. Kristy Dragonslayer (COPY) 69.253.39.117 14:35, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Wow. I can't believe anyone has trouble with this WIK quest. I've walked through it with all 8 toons, each a different profession, with both heros and hench. I did all of WIK in HM my first time through. Take some meta hero builds and pop cons if you're having trouble. The only real OP WIK quest is Temple of the Intolerable. --Moto Saxon 14:53, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Additional boss not listed[edit]

We encountered Cairn the whatever, I think Cunning, the Jade Barrage/splinter ranger right to the left of the Green Gate. 67.246.60.56 23:54, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

I've copied him over from Riverside Province (explorable area)#Bosses. Technically neither he nor Kimii spawn here because of this quest, but the chances are that you'll never return here so I guess we might as well list him here too. -Chieftain Alex 09:35, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
