Wow the rollerbeetle racing page has a bug! HAHAHAHAH 69.143.226.129 09:06, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Lol.

BOTS![edit]

I have just learned something about bots, they all do similar things. For an example in Granite Citadel the bots like to go to teh merchant, and near teh sign post. I have just noticed that a lot of roller beetles are all in a circle. I believe that they all go there because they are actualy bots. These bots ruin the fun of Roller Beetle Racing!

or because that's the spawn point? -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 17:45, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm certain that the spot the roller beetles [bots] hang in a circle is on a hill, and the actual spawning point is diffrent than where they are.
First, please sign your comments. Now, I believe there are 2 spawn points in that location, and besides, it looks like it would be nearly impossible to make a bot to race. Mattman243 14:02, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
well, maybe it could be possible. there's only one track. but it would be very complicated i think, and if you get disturbed by your opponents, this won't work i think... Zerpha The Improver 16:58, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, theres two spawning points. And if you walk around towns a lot of people visit like TOA, LA, Kamadan, Kaineng Center, you will occasionally see these perfect circles, which are usually caused by players spawning and going afk or chatting. I'll have to check if theres an article on this or if its integrated into one, interesting topic ^^ LunarEffect 19:33, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
This Dragon Festival will be very interesting. Fingers crossed for less or no bots! Markus Clouser User Markus Clouser signature img.jpg 11:45, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Enviromental Effects[edit]

  • Hills and slow inclines reduce your speed to a crawl (about 10%)

I find this to be rather ambiguous. Does it reduce the speed to 10% or by 10%? LunarEffect 19:34, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Crawl is specified as 10% normal speed according to this person's use of parenthesis for clarification.

vampiric mod effect[edit]

can someone who played in the last rollerbeetle race weekend confirm the recent edit that vampiric mods don't cause health drain? --VVong|BA 21:18, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Anet says they fixed it in today's update. --Valshia 21:28, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Canthan New Year 2008[edit]

It seems that you get Lunar Tokens rather than Victory Tokens. 3rd place yielded 2 Lunar Tokens.

Yeah that's right. Pudding 3:44 a.m. 9. February 2008
Yes, it's Lunar Tokens for Canthan New Year and Victory Tokens for other events, I believe. Datrulegend 03:49, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Godmode[edit]

<meaningless bashing> Bah. Wish they wouldn't have implemented Super Rollerbeetle... It causes me to come second way, way more than it helps me win (seeing as I get like one every 20 games). </meaningless bashing> — Galil Talk page 19:52, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

If you get it once every twenty games, doesn't it imply that your opponent will be liable to get it once every twenty games? :P However, I can imagine that having the Super Beetle take away your win is comparable to a sniper or camper in an FPS, but the good news is that here, it happens less often and is less reliable. It also takes a malicious opponent to want to save this until the end for said sniping effect, but I suppose those people need something to do while not playing such FPS's. I didn't mention Halo. Chaiyo Kaldor 23:20, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
The thing that gripes me isn't that I've come second so darn many times from it. It's the fact one single skill can change the whole outcome of the game, if a player is lucky enough to get it. If you are first place and use it, you are guaranteed victory. If you are second, you will win unless the first person is way ahead of you. Then it'll be very close instead. Hell, I've recovered from 4 knockdowns in the start of the game, ending up last place way behind the others, with one single use of it, and won. I believe one skill singlehandedly (often, not always) changing the outcome of the entire game is the very definition of imbalanced. Also, I've seen players get three in a row, plus one echoed one... GG. — Galil Talk page 23:33, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Thing is, who gets it is a matter of luck. Is a bit annoying when you are about to win due to skill, then someone gets a super and whizzes past, untouchable... Backsword 04:02, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Rollerbeetle Racing has degenerated into a game of Lag and Luck. That's it. --Srakin 03:09, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Don't you mean like everything else? Dominator Matrix 03:11, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

How is a right handed player supposed to do this?[edit]

I learned that the up down left right arrow keys are how you control the beetle which is located on the right side of a keyboard, but if you are right handed that leaves you with try to control your mouse with your left hand.--Worldly Tutor 23:08, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

use wasd. if its not mapped on ur keyboard, then change it. --VVong|BA 23:12, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Rubberbanding?[edit]

Has anyone experienced rubberbanding while doing this race?--Worldly Tutor 23:21, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

LOADS. I rubberband all the time, once 0.25¼ of the track back, though it's increased in recent hours (the rubberbanding, not the length of it). :( Americans, go back to bed and let us europeans play so we don't rubberband so much! :D — Galil Talk page 23:34, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
I've been rubberbanding a lot of places this weekend and haven't done any rollerbeetle racing. --Valshia 23:40, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
I rubberband a bit too, but there IS a remedy to this. Just click on the nearest player and click space. It tells the server that you want to follow this player, thus making the server send the REAL map to the client's (your) computer. However, since that means you want to follow the player, you have to press a forward or backward direction key again, to cancel following. Then resume racing. If you're quick enough, this takes a fraction of a second. Datrulegend 03:43, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
The problem is when you're up front. :/ — Galil Talk page 03:46, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, if you're ahead enough, a little rubberbanding won't matter. If you can still see somebody on your radar, well use the method I mentioned. ^_^ Datrulegend 03:48, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
This game is very unfriendly towards players with laggy connections. I've personally never even seen a green ping dot in-game. Xerxez 15:23, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
This was one of my favorite things in GW but the awful netcode is just too much to bear these days. Vael Victus Pancakes. 06:26, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

TIPS?[edit]

Does anyone have any tips for racing? When to press the dash and Ram buttons? I come in first enough times, but I've NEVER managed a score higher than 450k. And look at the top 100! The same people are on it many many times, and with the top score being around 482k!!! How on earth do they do it? Please, if someone knows some tips, I'd greatly appreciate it, it would help me a lot in evening the chances... And I'm sure others would appreciate it too. --Akane Kiryu 04:48, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Still open[edit]

How come this arena is still open? o.o — Galil Talk page 20:12, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Probably so the winners can get their reward from Little Jack. -Smurf 07:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Starting A Race[edit]

When I enter the outpost I click "Enter Battle" but nothing happens!!

Any ideas?

Sir Phil SP

It's most likely cause this place isn't supposed to be open any more. No idea why you still can travel there though. — Galil Talk page 06:58, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Read the reply for the topic above this one Arduinna talk 08:16, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

move or not?[edit]

does anyone agree w/ the move suggestion? i didn't suggest it, but i think it makes sense. we will need to move dragon arena and dwayna vs grenth too if ppl are in favor. --VVong|BA 22:18, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

I am a fan of following the in-game naming conventions. So... Any idea on the in-game name for the zone? And the in-game link-to-wiki name given?.
In any case, i think these articles should be split so we can actually: have an outpost article with the outpost information, have an arena article with the arena information (including landmarks, pathing issues, etc), and leave the main article to explain how the "game" works (including walkthrough). It could prove to look a bit cleaner that way. --Fighterdoken 22:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
"Rollerbeetle Racing" is the in-game name. and actually u've pointed out something that i've thought about but was too lazy to do. the costume battle articles illustrate how the articles should prolly be separated. --VVong|BA 22:49, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
You mean, the Costume Brawl that redirects to Costume Brawl (arena)? :). In any case, if that is the in-game name, then it probably should be moved. I would think the "arena" part was just added to simplify the disambiguation process anyways.--Fighterdoken 22:55, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
hmm, woops. i didn't notice that. i thought costume brawl was just costume brawl. that's actually an incorrect title b/c there is no arena by that name. --VVong|BA 22:58, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
hasn't been much more response to this, but i think the move suggestion is the right one. if there's no further input, i'll move this article and other similarly named minigame articles. --VVong|BA 19:44, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Dishonorable on Resign[edit]

Fun... got dishonorable from resigns. Stinkage. User Kyle van der Meer Sig Pic.pngKyle van der Meer 01:00, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Yea i don't see the logic behind it either =/--211.27.33.57 22:33, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Just grand, Happened to me because my laptop loads slow. Now i have to wait to race again? I wanna slap a Yak now. Anet, remove the "dishonorable" effect from Rollerbeetle racing, some of us load slowly and it kicks us out without giving us any choice if we load after it's started, besides you're on your own 1 person team anyway. What's the point of having it? Adamus Marden 01:40, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Unable to enter![edit]

For some odd reason, whenever I try to enter the race, it won't let me! :( I go to the race set-up area thing (where the storage, scoreboards, designs, guy who takes you back, etc. are), click "Enter Battle", and all that happens is the button greys out... and then nothing! I've waited for an entire hour, I've made sure that at least 6 people were trying to enter, I re-zoned and retried numerous times... nothing. I know other people are having this problem too... anyone know what's wrong? DEMONIIIK 06:46, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

SRB[edit]

Is Fucking Retarded and Should Be Removed 80.223.236.43 16:00, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Pretty much, should only last like 8 seconds. If you get it, you're almost guaranteed victory. Vael Victus Pancakes. 06:29, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Island[edit]

Where is this located on the Tyria (world) map? --Falconeye 17:48, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Good question. It's never stated, I believe. The Dragon Arena is in the Imperial Hall (which I assume is lore-wise located in Kaineng City), Snowball is in the Yak's Bend arena, Costume Brawl is located in 3 different places + the Forbidden Path. This island is probably the fabled island where rollerbeetle young who are messed up in some way are left to die (can't seem to find where that was mentioned...). -- Konig/talk 19:35, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
i think all we know is the beetles are sent there by boat from elona. Spark-TBa 18:42, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Top 100[edit]

Maybe it should be added that you do not get a Miniature Greased Lightning if you place in the top 100 during the Dragon Festival. I spent hours and hours to place 75th only to find out it doesnt matter unless it is during the Canthan New year.76.101.206.236 21:25, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Boxes probability[edit]

Hi, I've counted results of boxes : Distracting Lunge : 33,75%
Spit Rocks : 18,75%
Echo : 15%
Blast : 8,75%
Super R. : 5%
Nothing : 18,75%
Joeyw 19:51, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

The nothings tend to be repeated skills you still have not used. It sucks when you get distraction 4 times in a row.

New Reward in 2013: Ranger Pet?[edit]

Zaishen Menagerie - "Your current collection is missing: racing beetle" 76.120.170.133 07:53, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Yep. Reward for winning is no longer Lunar Tokens but Racing Medals. Exchange 100 medals for beetles in menagerie, 200 for beetle minipet. -HGRunning 21:11 31 January 2013 (CST)

Sync enters[edit]

Where do you find these people?! I would love to be able to race without someone knocking me down even though I'm already in last place, and I've tried asking my guildies and alliance mates about it but nobody has any input to offer. Any hints? 67.80.219.11 22:06, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

First paragraph[edit]

"The rewards for the victors depend on the event during which the game takes place." I don't think this line has been updated since the introduction of Racing Medals. 67.246.60.56 04:44, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

But why[edit]

Why did they even bother trying to make a racing mario kart game inside an already weak rpg engine which was clearly not meant for it. Not to mention adding such an expensive and hard to get mini pet whic is worth around 3000 platinum. They could have just made the game in a different engine suited for it. Thus they'd only have to link the highscore leaderbord to GW and Rollerbeetle Racing in order to give the players their rewards.

Also the whole half-assed execution of the concept leaves a lot to be desired. Who in their rightful minds adds a leaderboard to a racing game where everyone can knock you down and ruin your score? Leaderboards are only meant for time trial scenarios, yet they provided no such thing for this mini game. They put a highly prized mini pet in a completely randomized game instead of at least putting it in the more combat skill-based minigame called Dragon Arena where you can at least keep your winning pug team after every battle. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 188.25.110.139 (talk).

What is the tie-breaker if multiple people have the same score on the leaderboard?[edit]

For the list of names at Eldrid the Ancient, how does the game decide on the tiebreaker if multiple people are level on points? --138.75.212.57 20:20, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
