Talk:The Last Hierophant
From Guild Wars Wiki
Giving Duncan the Black's level a massive overhaul. The section starting with "It is recommended NOT to fight with the Stone Summits" is misleading and completely unnecessary. Did the dungeon in HM for the first time /w the guild a few days ago, and we actually expected the summit to be for the most part avoidable. We had a pretty good set of anti summit skills worked out from the other parts of the dungeon, but we decided to forgo them for more holy damage to deal with the undead popups we were warned of. Well, no sh*t wiki, the stone summit SHOULD be avoided, the problem is that there is a minimum of 5 summit mobs that will not be avoidable. --71.158.243.2 16:29, 1 August 2009 (UTC) --
The difficulty on this quest is Elite not Master. I think we need a new type! --Lemming

I didn't notice any accept or decline dialoge or option to pick. It seems the quest is added and accepted automatically. Probably should be added to notes, especially since it's one of the few if any that do this. Yukiko

After you've defeated Duncan and completed the quest, can you come back and face Duncan again right away? Or do you have to go through the first four stages everytime? What if you keep the quest? Thanks Spiderman 05:31, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- I was wondering the same - Hell Nirvana

- No, unfortunately not --88.68.198.177 20:50, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
That's a smashing walkthrough!
So this quest is immediately accepted after A Time for Heroes is Completed?
- No, it's immediatly accepted once you set foot in the Dungeon. -- Broodling

[edit] Walkthrough
Can we seriously get a more through walkthrough? I cleared the Thommis/Stormweaver level rather easily but I simply can't get through the ridiculous spawn groups of the other 2 levels, especially Forgewight's level. - HeWhoIsPale 15:16, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- I added a few comments from memory. I hope that it helps. I usually H&H, but to do Forgewight, I needed to join a group with the specified roles. --

I am tired of fools gathering for VS-Shit drop, instead of Slavers Exile DUnngeon, Situation was a lot better when ursan wasn't nerfed. Now its hard to find a grp for Slavers exile.
- Well, that's what farming groups do, Slaver's is the new fav farming location, even CoF farming was dead last time I checked. But with costly titles, not farming is just not an option I want to consider. --

- The Ursan nerf i dont mind all that much I do all of then bosses without ursan, I use H&H. But one thing that i thing arenanet took over the top is reducing all the attributes to 0. They try to avoid the grind on getting the title; but now the skill it self is a grind to use. Ill stick with my build; I take 0 dmg from all HM or NM and do 50+dmg with normal hits plus PI and 3 necros, Ursan is obsolete to me.^^--24.92.214.16 19:36, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Not sure if it is an error or not, but it looks like the last part, Duncan the Black, determines if the quest goes in the Hard Mode book or Normal Mode book. I was able to do Justiciar Thommis, Rand Stormweaver, Selvetarm, and Forgewight in Normal Mode. I then did Duncan the Black in Hard Mode, because I had trouble getting help. The game shows I completed the quest in Hard Mode, so I spent the 100g to have it show up in my Hard Mode Master Dungeon Guild book. I also took the quest when I was in Normal Mode too; might be a easy way to help fill the HM Master Dungeon book. – Mystic Witch 22:57, 06 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, a lot of people use that trick. Not sure if it's a bug or allowed exploit or design decision. It makes more sense that it would be changed to having to complete all parts in hard mode to count as hard mode. --

[edit] This looks somewhat easy...
Not super easy...but it doesn't look maddeningly difficult...Taka Ragranok 03:37, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- It isn't impossibly hard... My wife and I did it with heroes. The trick on Duncan was to use Swap to move all the spirits away. Once they're all out of range, he's a piece of cake... Relatively speaking. --RoyHarmon 04:45, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
I haven't done it yet on HM but allready I'm wondering what the rit upgrade did with duncan...84.26.144.104 21:39, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- He's relatively anti-climactic. It's like Gradius, you gotta fight teeth and nail to get to him, but he's a push over. LunchboxOctober 05:37, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
