Strange power block bars[edit]

Power Block Power Block is scary as it stops casters being able to play the game for so long, but most Domination/interrupt heavy bars can't really do any killing on their own. Do viable split bars exist...? In terms of skill slots, something relying on attacks may be more efficient here, especially with anniversary weapons. Also, in FA, wastrels everything seems to be everywhere already, so maybe skip that.

This page is really just throwing ideas around. I'm not convinced that any of this is necessarily good, but after years playing the same bars it's definitely interesting. And maybe a bit funny.

Warrior[edit]

I first thought this was stupid due to energy, but thinking about it there might be some ways out. Running PB alone (15e every 20s, vs 13.3e regen every 20s) is going to eat up all energy without further help (IE Zealous weapons, or stuff like Knee Cutter). HSR domination is likely unusable for this reason, +1/20% is probably more useful. Flail is the only non-energy IAS. I haven't tried Flail + Cripple but it probably sucks to chase kiting people. In conclusion, the anniversary spear is probably the most viable solution.

The question therefore remains: what to fill the remaining slots with without making this too energy expensive?

  • "Watch Yourself!" (PvP) "Watch Yourself!" (PvP) - (Kurzick) Because making party members within earshot take 30% less damage from turtles or elementalists is hardly bad. Much less useful on Luxon.
  • Dolyak Signet Dolyak Signet - (Kurzick) Stalling purposes.
  • Hammer Bash Hammer Bash - (+stonefist) Because making people unable to play the game for 3 seconds is probably not a bad thing. Lineback potential, and requires no attribute investment.
  • Healing Signet Healing Signet - Self heal without adrenaline requirement.
  • Lion's Comfort Lion's Comfort - Self heal with adrenaline requirement that doesn't need Tactics.
  • Signet of Disenchantment Signet of Disenchantment - Hide your PB energy.
  • Signet of Clumsiness (PvP) Signet of Clumsiness (PvP) - (+stonefist) Probably extremely annoying for anyone using attack skills predictably or while not under IAS, 12s recharge is the same as PI. KD does not require Illusion investment.
  • 5e mesmer rupts, such as Power Spike Power Spike may be viable with a Zealous spear

Ranger[edit]

Energy regen is barely more usable (20e every 15s). Expertise helps, at least a little, but the lack of other things to do without energy makes this probably not worthwhile.

Sword[edit]

Probably not usable with PB due to energy constraints and melee wanting a way to stop people kiting all day. Something like this, on the other hand, may be playable:

First optional: some kind of snaring skill

  • Barbed Trap Barbed Trap - Longer snare, plus bleeding, but 15e base.
  • Snare Snare - 5e base, less duration.
  • Maiming Strike Maiming Strike - Would require bringing pet skills, and may be too unreliable.
  • Pin Down Pin Down - 15e base, would require working marksmanship into the bar (which seems silly on this).

Other optionals:

Bow[edit]

Low viability due to energy.

Mesmer[edit]

Normal Domination type bars probably flatten anything weird you could do with secondary.

Necromancer[edit]

The aim is to be killy. Scythe is nice, but N/Me can have no IAS. Most other necromancer things can at most be annoying, but are not terribly killy. Being annoying works, but it's also somehow got to do better than a full Domination mesmer for comparison. Of course, running full Domination plus Soul Reaping (and still having the slow scything available) is also a thing you can do...

Monk[edit]

You get a hammer, but no IAS. You get smiting, which is a bit sad. PB eats energy, but so does everything else you could do. Without a way around the energy this is probably not useful.

Elementalist[edit]

You get an axe, but no IAS. I'm unsure how far you can push the energy on this.

Assassin[edit]

You get a shortbow, but no IAS. Critbow without IAS doesn't seem like great damage, but gets energy to throw around (but nothing obvious to dump it into besides Domination, in which case just run N/Me instead. With care, there may be a dagger chain that can hurt without ruining energy for PB, but it might be a bit tight.

Ritualist[edit]

You get a flatbow, and have Weapon of Aggression. Channeling is not amazing damage (but you can bring your "pet" to fights) and may have energy issues. Problem is, you're still using a flatbow on a caster, and probably need to stand on top of someone to be able to hit them reliably without any arrow speed modifiers.

Paragon[edit]

The only way this seems remotely usable is if you rely on shoutspam to keep your energy up. Trouble is, shoutspam requires allies that may not always be present, and ultimately fills your skillbar with stuff that isn't terribly useful.

Dervish[edit]

Scythe goes chop. Scythe hurts lots. Scythe doesn't really demand a ton of skills to do this.
