Images[edit]

According to the user page policy, if you're going to use images for your user page they need to be uploaded with the name User <username> <image>. For example, if I was to upload an image it would be named User Anja Astor MyMonk.jpg. Any wrongly named image will get tagged for deletion. Also pay attention that it doesn't exceed 100kb in size and put user image in the description field. If there is anything else you want to know just leave a note on my talk page. Have fun and enjoy your stay! - anja talk 17:10, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. I try to modify that immediately.

Thank you :) I hope I didn't cause all too much trouble for you. (Btw, you can also sign your comments on talk pages by typing ~~~~ after your comment) - anja talk 17:27, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm discovering GWWiki, and try to learn some interesting functions :D Well... The signature... Alexia Ombrepierre Oh! That seems good *smile* I see that we can add a small icon right side the name. I certainly need to upload a small *png image, isn't it ?

You can check out the signature policy for some basic code on how to make your signature personal and also what is ok and what is not :) - anja talk 17:36, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Bonjour Alexia :) I noticed your newest image upload: Alexiajora.jpg is missing the required criteria mentioned above. I would like to give you a tip that makes uploading images on the wiki much easier. When you save your images on your own computer after creating them, just use the wiki user image standard, so that when you actually upload the image, the naming policy will be implemented automatically. For example, when I create my images, I save them on my computer as User Laura Brinklow armor render.jpg Then, when I upload it on the wiki, the naming is automatically correct, and all I have to make sure to insert in the DESCRIPTION text field is the text: user image. Hope that helps. :) Laura Brinklow sig 02:17, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, Laura, I try immediately ^^' -edit- I hope it's good now. --Alexia Ombrepierre 06:10, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Glad to help :) I went ahead and added the user image tag in your new upload's description, to conform with requirements, however, I believe there is still a minor flaw in that image name. You have to use your entire user name I believe, such as User Alexia Ombrepierre Alexiajora.jpg, for example. I hope that my observations don't offend you. It is quite obvious that the policies are there to make things easier for maintaining the wiki, as opposed to the ease of use. :) I will leave it up to you to try it again, if you wish :) Laura Brinklow sig 06:27, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't feel offended, au contraire! That is very nice to spend some of your time for users, especially the beginners like me :D Well, I tried again... Maybe it's good now... --Alexia Ombrepierre 06:38, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
In my eyes, it's good, but that's before I noticed the size: *pulls hair out* I feel bad that I didn't notice this right away, as at first glance, it didn't look like an image that would be even close to 142 kilobytes. I went ahead and asked an admin about it. What I could do for you is editit myself and lower the quality abit so that it does end up under the 100kb policy limit if that is ok with you? As for the name, perfect :) Laura Brinklow sig 06:51, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
That must be good, image is only 76kb now --Alexia Ombrepierre 07:01, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

(reset indent):Yes! Excellent :) Merci! Laura Brinklow sig 07:04, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I learn gradually to become a correct user *laugh* Thanks for all, Laura! --Alexia Ombrepierre 07:09, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Happy to help. By the way, I love Jora's armor just as much as you do! :) Laura Brinklow sig 07:18, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
So great armor, yes! :D Unfortunately, in accordance with Emily Diehl, it seems we don't have much hope about that *sigh* --Alexia Ombrepierre 07:33, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

User namespace[edit]

I moved your User page back here. As it is your personal site, it does not belong into main wiki namespace. - MSorglos (talk|contrib) 18:08, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Oh... Thus, I have to name my page "User:Alexia Ombrepierre"... But nobody can find me with the search engine, when I use "User:xxxx" form. What is the interest to have a Wiki page here ?

User and Guild Namespace are deactivated by default in search. If you activate them, you will find your article. Main namespace is reserved for game and game related content of main interest. - MSorglos (talk|contrib) 18:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. But it's sad, because few people have User and Guild Namespace activated *sigh* --Alexia Ombrepierre 18:52, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

I disagree that it is sad. If someone wants to search for you they probably know they can tick the box to search users. If not they probably don't want a user page but a page about the game. It is an important distinction to have, and it is the same on every wiki you will find. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 02:19, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

How to make your sig work with that little icon you uploaded way back :)[edit]

Hi again :) I'd like to help you with doing this, because after watching your history, I found that you had an interest in getting your own little icon beside in your signature :) It took me a while to figure it out for myself, without help. So I'm taking this opportunity to help you with it :)

 • Click User Preferences
 • Under the User Profile tab, you'll see a field called "Nickname"
 • Paste this text in the field (already customized for you, you can change font if you wish, but your icon is indeed included)

<span style="font: 10pt Tahoma;">Alexia</span> <span style="font: 10pt Tahoma;">Ombrepierre</span>

 • Then check the little box under the field called Raw Signature
 • Save Changes and VOILA!

Your little icon will now be in your signature from now on, and when people click your first name, it will go to your User Page, and when they click on your last name it will lead them to your Talk Page :)

Hope that I have been helpful :) Laura Brinklow sig 07:54, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

It's wonderful to be helped like that! *laugh* You right, I tried to use my personal icon, but failed again and again... Maybe today will be the relief day! *Hop! Publish and take a look at the signature* --Alexia Ombrepierre Sig 08:25, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Glad you like it :) The reason it shows no link on your last name is because we are already at your talk page :) Laura Brinklow sig 08:31, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
... You read in my spirit ? ^^' I was thinking about that, it's incredible! Anyway, Wiki becomes more fun with some experience. Thanks, Laura! --Alexia Ombrepierre Sig 08:38, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
You are welcome :) I enjoy to provide a nice atmosphere for new users on the wiki, and I felt like I owed you one from the image issues earlier :) I know how frustrating it gets sometimes when learning new things.

Sorry, but please remove the font size attribute. You are not allowed to format your signature in a way that it disrupts the normal text flow of a talk page. Please see GWW:SIGN. -- ab.er.rant sig 09:28, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I didn't know, sorry... I try to change that. Okay, I hope that's complying with rules, now --Alexia Ombrepierre Sig 10:13, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
No worries. Yes it's fine now. :) -- ab.er.rant sig 10:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
