Image naming

The image you recently uploaded, Guild Guild Name Guardians Of The Heartland.gif does not meet guild image naming conventions and is tagged for deletion. The correct name should be Guild Guardians Of The Heartland.gif (thought the guild info box template will create a link for a .jpg). Please re upload the image with the correct name. Thanks!--Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 05:00, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Skill availability

Heya, non-elite skills are not listed with bosses for capture on their pages, only the skill trainers that provide them. --Wyn's Talk page Wynthyst 20:07, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, uh. ok. I am sorry, but I am new to all this 'wiki' stuff. I am just trying to help out the wiki community. And thanks for the info about my cape on my guild page. It looks like it got taken care of. Back to this skill thing if we could please. I must say that I think that is a really bad idea to remove from the skills page where a person can aquire the skills one might need. I have seen many, one I just aquired for my Monk the non-elite skill 'Purge Signet' from a boss in Kessex Peak. The only way I knew about it, is I looked what bosses where in that area and saw that it had some skills I could use. I just checked too, and on that skills info page, it lists that boss as the SoC for acquisition. To me, and this is my personal opinion here Wynthyst, but fighting for a skill is more rewarding rather than just going to a skill trainer. With the sole exception of SoC's, skill trainers are a waste of 1 skill point and 1 platinum. I would much rather find a boss that has the skills, load up on SoC's and go get it...the HARD WAY. I am sorry for 'messing up' the system. I will just stick to just editing my User and Guild pages and keep my own notes of where a person can get skills that are on bosses for my personal reference.

Talk page

I'm not sure you understand the purpose of a talk page. It's for the community to be able to contact you. You are welcome to archive comments, but not just delete them as per our userpage policy. The data you have regarding your guild is more appropriately placed on your guild page at Guild:Guardians Of The Heartland. Personal information you wish to share with the community goes on your user page. If you have any questions you can feel free to ask me, any helper, check out our Help center, or post a question on our Help:Ask a wiki question page. Thanks!--Wyn's Talk page Wyn 19:05, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

User page

Ok, I think I have properly restored your edits on your User page. I apologize for the inconvenience. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 20:32, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

No, you have not restored my edit. Please go to this link to see the changes I made, and either add in the sections I deleted, or let me know and I will add them back. Thanks you See http://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Guardians_Of_The_Heartland&diff=0&oldid=1203814 --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Guardians Of The Heartland (talk).

Go to your USER PAGE, not your talk page. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 20:52, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Ah, ok. I'm starting to get it now. I never had the "User" page and the "User:Talk" page seperated before. Nor did I know you did that for me. Thank you. And sorry about the rant. So, I have a question for you if you would like to help me. Is there a way to upload a screen shot of each GW characters face onto my "User" page and have it next to their name? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Guardians Of The Heartland (talk).

I would be happy to help you. What I've been trying to explain to you is that your personal information should go on the user page, since the talk page has restrictions as to what you can remove, and should be used for communication by the community. The easiest way to upload an image is create the link on the page where you wish it to appear (using proper naming as per our image use policy). Then just click on the red link and it will take you to the upload screen where you can browse to the image on your computer and select it. Be sure to select the proper tag options (user image, screenshot, etc) for your images. Also, please sign your talk page comments with 4 tildes (~~~~) or use the signature button on the edit bar. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 21:02, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Ok, and thank you for the information, I do appreciate it, however if I may suggest something, in the future when you come accross someone like myself who obviously has very little expierence with wiki code, it is better to be overly descriptive about what you have changed, versus not give enough information.

Also, is there anything (a link, file...) on how to create a "User Page". reason I ask, is I have found nothing on how to do it. My entire page has been trial by fire and from viewing other peoples pages to see how they do theirs. For example, to create the (I guess there called 'user boxes') those things at the bottom that say "This user enjoys PvP", etc. Is there a listing somewhere that tells a person whats available. I really like the EOTN area, and a users page I randomly looked at had one for "This user likes Tyria" (or something like that), so I tried to do lots of variations of that phrase, except I took out Tyria and put in EOTN, EoTn, Eye of the North, E.O.T.N., etc. None of them worked. So is there not a user box for that? That is why I am asking if you know of any listing that will give a person a clue to what they can do there. When I did a search on wiki for User Boxes, it came up with nothing. Maybe Im doing something wrong, i have no idea. Again, here is where something, a link or file, with very detailed information would be an asset for people who want to create pages in wiki. I know there is the files on wiki policies and such, but I have not found anything like what I am looking for. Again, thank you for your time and help.

Sorry, I typed in those 216.106.41.6 and it didnt put my name by it.

Hey there bud, I'm only on for about 20 minutes or so before headin' to work, but I can help you out a bit on your userpage as well. For your signature, you can just type in the ' ~ ' mark four times at the end of your statement and it will automatically put your name at the end. |Foul Bane| 21:41, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
It's because you are not logged in, so it signs with your IP address instead. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 21:44, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
As for how to build a userpage, not specifically, the Help center has links to editing help pages. As for userboxes, you can see a large selection of them here. There are links to other help resources in an earlier message I left you. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 21:46, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Hey there Bane, Great to see you again. Got your email today, great to hear about your work. Thanks for the tips.
Wyn, thank you for sending the file on user boxes...I never would have guessed that they would be under the heading of User:Seru/User box templates... see this is what im talking about. Unless a person knows the exact lingo, it will take forever to find anything. But really, thank you.
Bane, Hope to see you online soon. Have a great day at work.Guardians Of The Heartland 21:55, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Yup. Headin out in a sec, sent you an email instead about working on the userpage. Wyn is pretty knowledgable on this and can help ya out with most stuff, but if you have any questions on smaller or random w/e things, just let me know :D. GL and Have fun! |Foul Bane| 22:01, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Lol.. no one thinks to look for userboxes on Seru's page unless they know Seru :P you can also find them at Category:User box templates, but Seru's page shows you what they all look like on one page. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 22:15, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
If you know what you'd like for your userpage, I'd be happy to help you, I do all mine as tables, makes positioning and organization easier. My personal userpage is a table filled in with minipages, makes it a bit harder to vandalize. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 22:22, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Hi Wyn, Thanks for your help with getting this sorted out. I have looked at your page and I think you do a fantastic job. I like the color shemes, the internal links..it is all top notch. That is something similar to what I want to do, but not sure how to get it there. It sounds like you have web design down really well and I will probalby be contacting you soon. Again thanks for helping me get on the right track. Also, I know you said it is not policy, but I would be more than happy to remove (if its possilbe) what I wrote to you on your talk page, if not, I will be more than happty to ammend it. Just let me know.Guardians Of The Heartland 22:35, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) no worries, I will be archiving it tomorrow anyway, trust me, I wasn't then or now offended, as I know how incredibly confusing and frustrating this can be. Just so you know that none of us are trying to harass you, just trying to help you learn, and don't take it personally or get upset about it. I had a disastrous first few weeks here when I started editing, but the wiki has gotten into my blood and now it's a real passion of mine and I really do try to be as helpful as I can to new users. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 22:55, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
