Anti-caster is a term commonly used to describe builds or tactics that work well against spellcasters. Martial classes typically carry skills that prevent spell casting or remove the enchantments used by spellcasters. The spellcasting professions themselves tend to have skills that punish casters for using spells or certain types of skills.
Common tactics[edit]
- Energy denial: removing, reducing, or stealing the energy casters need to operate. For example, Energy Surge or Energy Burn may be used to deal damage as well as remove a caster's energy.
- Shutdown: preventing the foe from casting, e.g. interrupts or skills that increase activation time (e.g. by dazing, skills such as Frustration or Migraine) or recharge time (e.g. Blackout and Diversion).
- Punishment: punishes the foe for casting spells (e.g. Backfire, Mistrust).
- Enchantment removal: many casters require enchantments to function effectively.
