ArenaNet:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/Animal companions
Guild Wars 2 Suggestions |
---|
More pets (Discussion)
Add a larger list of charmable animals in Guild Wars 2, such as the Minotaur and Devourer.
- Why this is a good idea
- Interesting selection of pets
- Why it may not work out
- Overpowering pets?
Multiple pets (Discussion)
Control two or more pets simultaneously.
- Why this is a good idea
- More damage dealt by pets.
- Why it may not work out
- May seem unfair to others
- Ranger = Warrior+Ranger
- Pets already deal heavy damage with pet attacks and high beast mastery
Pet emotes (Discussion)
Pets perform emotes along with character. Perhaps a few interactive emotes can be thrown in such as:
- /pet - Character pats the pet's fur/feathers
- /feed - Character hands pet a treat
- /petdance - Pet does a dance(?)
- Why this is a good idea
- Visual, interactive pets
- Why it may not work out
- Work for something that doesn't get much use beyond minion-fodder right now.
Pet clothing, armor, and jewelry (Discussion)
Pet clothing, armor, and jewelry. Adds to the armor rating and visual appeal of your animal companions.
- Why this is a good idea
- Unique pets
- An armor plated giant spider or bear diving into combat would be fun to see, and if granting an armor bonus would be practical
- Even if there is no bonus, a money sink.
- Why it may not work out
- Pets might look odd
- If it grants bonuses, might imbalance them
- Many people find dressing up pets odd
- PETA would be on ArenaNet's ass in a second.
"Pet Stable" (Discussion)
In the original Guild Wars, a player can only have one animal companion at a time. ArenaNet should make it so a player can "equip" a pet they have already charmed before heading into battle, and they don't have to sell their pet to a pet tamer to charm a new one.
- Why this is a good idea
- Pets have different benefits for different foes
- Allows players to have multiple pets and choose between them
- Choosing the pet you wish to follow you is easier
- Adds to the use of pets; They could better fit your build and have 'pet skills'
- Why it may not work out
- ArenaNet may not add pets to GW2
- It might be too much of a hassle to design
Pet Trading (Discussion)
Players should be allowed to openly trade animal companions; A type of barter so that the players can trade gold, an item, or their current pet for a new pet.
- Why this is a good idea
- Why it may not work out
Pet Summoning stones (Discussion)
Use summoning stones with Charm Animal to capture a pet. Player keeps it in inventory to use when ever they play a class that can use it. This frees up a slot on the skill bar and allows players to capture multiple animals for pets. Rules can be established like "only one pet summoned at a time in explorable areas".
- Why this is a good idea
- Allows multiple pets for a player with out overloading a skill.
- Frees up a slot as well on skill bar.
- Can open up the possibility "hot swapping " pets in explorable areas.
- Why it may not work out
- Game balancing issues may be why Charm Animal was set up that way to begin with. Since summoning stones are introduced in GW 1 this is a moot point.
- Code and memory issues on the servers need to be considered. For example storage space for pet summoning stones would be an issue.
Pet Control (Discussion)
Make pets controllable with some pet-only skills
- Why this is a good idea
- It makes more sense to have a pet
- It might to introduce pet fight
- Why it may not work out
