Gaile Gray Talk Tuesday March 06, 2007

Summary

Complete log

Gaile Gray: Hey, all.

Gaile Gray: Nope, the mini lich is a fake. :)

Gaile Gray: Guild Wars is made by ArenaNet. Guild Wars will always be made by ArenaNet. :)

Gaile Gray: Update notes didn't propagate yet. Here they are:

Gaile Gray: Update notes: - Made preparations for the Chinese Open Beta Test

Gaile Gray: Yes, the development team at ArenaNet will always be the team making Guild Wars. I understand what you're asking.

Gaile Gray: Ahh, birthday presents - good question.

Gaile Gray: There have been a lot of requests for miniatures, but the designers have not made a final decision.

Gaile Gray: So we're asking IF it's a miniature, what would you like to see.

Gaile Gray: We're not at all saying it will BE a miniature - that remains to be determined.

Gaile Gray: Last I heard, Binky's Spelling Adventure was C4. Nobody tells me anything!

Gaile Gray: The comments I've shared on the fansite forums are the only things we really can say, just now, on speculation.

Gaile Gray: I can tell you that saying "NCsoft announced..." is not true in that case.

Gaile Gray: Please do not spam questions.

Gaile Gray: Here's what I have no news about, with regret: storage, hairdressers, alliance rosters, auction house.

Gaile Gray: Now, personally, I'd love to see dye storage, you bet!

Gaile Gray: News I bring you? I can't just visit without having meaty tidbit of info!?!

Gaile Gray: * sniff *

Gaile Gray: I can say that there's a lot of speculation going around, and some concern about a few things.

Gaile Gray: And I think once you get the full story, any worries you have will be greatly assuaged.

Gaile Gray: You just don't get to use "assuaged" often enough. It means sort of "eased" or "addressed"

Gaile Gray: I try to toss it in at least once a week, just cause it's a cool word.

Gaile Gray: Eh, you've read forum threads, right? People going "Oh noes" about a few things.

Gaile Gray: Wait for the articles, wait for the features - you'll be well informed very soon.

Gaile Gray: Yes, waiting IS difficult, I so agree with you.

Gaile Gray: But at least you know when news will be available, so that's a good thing!

Gaile Gray: ah! Hard mode. Let me see if I can nab James! BRB

Gaile Gray: Hi, back. Hard Mode will be a few weeks away for certain. No exact date yet.

Gaile Gray: Hard Mode is... hmmm... now there you have me, because the details are not yet revealed! :)

Gaile Gray: I would estimate it involves something with difficulty. :D

Gaile Gray: May I draw your attention to the official site? ;)

Gaile Gray: With more to come very soon, in the form of a news post.

Gaile Gray: Not a lot of info there, but a bit.

Gaile Gray: Magazine pet is the Asura.

Gaile Gray: Revealed in the banner. I think it's adorable.:)

Gaile Gray: You know, speaking to James yesterday, I would think that pet controls are coming pretty soon!

Gaile Gray: And I predict a decision on Heroes' Ascent within a couple of weeks.

Gaile Gray: No, as I understand it, minions and pets are very different. You can tell that with their sheer numbers.

Gaile Gray: You will not lose titles with we offer more options.

Gaile Gray: That is to say, we will not offer new options and suddenly require you to earn twice the number of titles.

Gaile Gray: Guys, I need to come back in, I just did some settings changes. Give me a few, please.

Gaile Gray: Hi, sorry, having technical difficulties.

Gaile Gray: I think my comp is at death's door.;)

Gaile Gray: Our NCE team will continue to work with publications to get placement in countries other than those listed.

Gaile Gray: For instance, if Portugal is not on the list, I believe they will try to partner with a magazine in Portugal.

Gaile Gray: However, ultimately the magazines are selected by the PR Team,

Gaile Gray: Thanks, Zerod. :) ainty.

Gaile Gray: Guilds participating in the Celestial Tournament who have issues are able to speak with our OP coordinator.

Gaile Gray: I like the Asura very much, myself. :)

Gaile Gray: You should see him move around. He has the best facial expressions I've seen!

Gaile Gray: If you're wondering about the Asura, there's a news post on our website: www.guildwars.com.

Gaile Gray: Nothing about the next campaign is confirmed at this time.

Gaile Gray: That is to say, if someone thinks we confirmed "pirates." he or she is mistaken.

Gaile Gray: Thanks, Zerod.:)

Gaile Gray: To my understanding, we are not going to port Guild Wars to Linux or Mac. Of course...

Gaile Gray: ... only time will tell, and it could happen in the future, I suppose.

Gaile Gray: No word on inscriptions for Prophecies and Factions. It's a C3 mechanic at this point.

Gaile Gray: You could certainly submit an "Ask as Question" to NCsoft Europe support, asking about mags in other countries.

Gaile Gray: Spearmarshal and Lightbringer maxes - I believe that will be along in the not-too-distant future.

Gaile Gray: There is a list of magazine - so far - that will have news about Guild Wars.

Gaile Gray: Check the website for that list.

Gaile Gray: I'm told that some European magazine may have more than one feature.

Gaile Gray: For example, they may have a feature about GW in one issue and the key in another.

Gaile Gray: (That's Asura key, sorry)

Gaile Gray: I have not heard of pet controls for Heroes.

Gaile Gray: As I wrote in various fan forums, and as our CCs also shared, we cannot comment on the rumours just vet.

Gaile Gray: But you should know that some of what you've ready is true, but some is not, and quite a bit is misleading.

Gaile Gray: That is to say you might find grains of truth interwoven with half-truths and just plain nonsense. :)

Gaile Gray: No word on mini-pet battles.

Gaile Gray: I rather think not.

Gaile Gray: THanks, Scummy. :)

Gaile Gray: Oh, foo! I don't mean to talk in riddles, honestly!

Gaile Gray: But there's info we're not yet able to talc about.

Gaile Gray: I'd like to end the trade spam. I had not idea how bad it was until I stopped over in another area.

Gaile Gray: Man oh man, it was solid trading in all chat!

Gaile Gray: Guild Wars on console? Interesting idea, but I love my PC. :)

Gaile Gray: It could be cool, though. Hmm.

Gaile Gray: We do not "sell" information to magazines!

Gaile Gray: We give information, work in partnership with various media outlets, but we don't sell info.

Gaile Gray: I understand there are changes coming to the interface that prevent the overlapping of windoes.

Gaile Gray: I saw changes to bow attacks on the coming updates list, so I know the designers will address your concern.

Gaile Gray: I can sure ask about more games for the Gamer title, you bet.

Gaile Gray: I don't have anything new on storage, hairdressers, auction house, or alliance lists.

Gaile Gray: I bet there are a few other things I don't have any news on, too. :)

Gaile Gray: Basically I wanted to stop by to make sure you saw the bit of news about the Asura.

Gaile Gray: The animations on this little guys are simply wonderful.:)

Gaile Gray: He sort of puts up his paws in battle stance and gets a little growl-y expression.:)

Gaile Gray: Oh, cute idea, an animated GIF! I will suggest that for the team next time. :)

Gaile Gray: I think of the Asura as a Binky-like creature, yes. :D

Gaile Gray: 2nd Year birthday presents are currently in discussion.

Gaile Gray: Some have requested a miniature set, so we've been asking players to share their ideas on the forums.

Gaile Gray: Some have requested other things, and we're tracking those requests as well.

Gaile Gray: I don't know what's moving on the Mesmer changes, but I know they're on track.

Gaile Gray: I did ask about the DoA chests and I'm told that they've been tested and are working properly.

Gaile Gray: Some areas have more chests than others, and they do spawn randomly.

Gaile Gray: When the cost of buying gold rises, that's good for regular players.

Gaile Gray: In fact, I was wondering...

Gaile Gray: We could probably have an impact on gold ads, if we all clicked gold ads. :)

Gaile Gray: I mean, if we went to the hosting company, like Google, and clicked their ads for gold... hmmmm....

Gaile Gray: Would that cost the advertisers?

Gaile Gray: I think the Asura's pants are great, yes.

Gaile Gray: I'm doing the best that I can, between spammers, all cappers, and so much text!

Gaile Gray: I apologize if I don't answer your question, or address what you personally wish me to address.

Gaile Gray: I try to see what's on people's minds and answer to the best of my ability, but I miss a lot. I apologize for that.

Gaile Gray: Interesting idea, but if you did not share the gold with Heroes, people would not playe with people because...

Gaile Gray: .. they would find that they made more gold playing just with Heroes.

Gaile Gray: We do not want to dilute the human factor, or put players at a disadvantage!

Gaile Gray: I have not heard of permanent mini-games, although I've seen some clever requests for those in the past.

Gaile Gray: Thanks, Michael. :)

Gaile Gray: Thank you, but the bow is just too valuable. :)

Gaile Gray: I don't know how many Asuras will be available, but I know the Grey Giant is not common.

Gaile Gray: I think the idea of chests for Urzog and The Deep is intriguing. I'll pass that along.

Gaile Gray: I am "allowed" to play the game, certainly. (I have 9 accounts!) ;)

Gaile Gray: I have not heard of anybody working on a Sorrow's Furnace type of update, no.

Gaile Gray: This list of magazine is NOT complete, folks. We WILL be adding more locations.

Gaile Gray: I think that the magazine is Benelux, no?

Gaile Gray: I don't ask for too many tips on playing, but if I get really stuck, I might.

Gaile Gray: However, I stubbornly refused to ask for help with one Nightfall Mission.

Gaile Gray: I was tearing my hair out, but I got it done, in the end. :)

Gaile Gray: We talked about splitting out titles some months ago, and I do agree we should let you know more about that.

Gaile Gray: I will ask!

Gaile Gray: Would you want housing in the game? I'm curious, since you asked about it.

Gaile Gray: I believe that the team is making a few changes to a very small number of skills this week.

Gaile Gray: Some of them may address the concern you have about imba in the current PvP.

Gaile Gray: Another to add to my list: Nothing new to say about mounts, sorry.

Gaile Gray: Tell me about heroes' capes. What is the question?

Gaile Gray: Would purple and silver make it more lavender??

Gaile Gray: Drops are personal, yes. Reserved for players.

Gaile Gray: If you mean permanently, I don't see that coming. Because drops need to lose res after a while.

Gaile Gray: This allows us to pick up for a friend, if we're in a situation where we cannot win. :)

Gaile Gray: Sorry, I need to step away for a few.

Gaile Gray: Talk to you ssoon!

Gaile Gray: soon, that is. I'll stop by later today or tomorrow.
