It would great to have migration for the seasons where animals, npc tribes etc will move areas and plains will be flooded in winter and become deserts in summer etc. 122.109.43.82 14:18, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

one problem is that seasons depend on what hemisphere of the world you will be in so it won't really work
They might be able to squeeze environmental changes like these over different time periods than seasons, if the environmental changes make sense and add something to the game.Tambora 01:49, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Even in a game like this many parts of the game world could be in a different season so seasons and migration and environmental factors can all work as one area of the game is summer another winter etc. 122.109.43.82 07:38, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
It would be all good if every one who played the game started playing in exact same time and lived in same part of the world. In reality only a small part of gamer population will truly benefit from something like Seasons or Day/night changes or what ever, while others will be stuck always playing at night, or in frozen, barren landscape while its summer outside. Like I said have different parts of the game world on different times and seasons that way if someone plays at night one part of the game will be day another part night and vice versa I don't see how that will benefit only those in 1 part of the real world it makes it more realistic to have the game with its areas separated in day/night and seasons.122.109.43.82 15:16, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
It could work, just make a calendar year with the land of Guild wars and just have it the same for all players seperate from their region's climate... Artemis 22:55, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

In the Booklet it says that each God had a prefered Season. I'd like to see more power or favour, something that would allow people to have different powers during different seasons. Therefore if your area was now changing to winter and you were more powerful in say spring, moving to the area where spring would be in effect would encorage players to move with the seasons. Particualy when each area would be controled by a race, then it becomes interesting that if you choose a race you might have to fight to get the season you need.

Thats a cool idea. *points up, then to the top* It would be neat if you could choose what god your character worshipped, and perhaps have 'holy battles' like AB, only available to anyone, which can have patrons of the winning god get bonuses, and perhaps one character or a few can be the 'champion' of a god.
I think it would be good if like at different times of the day (either GMT or to your local area) it changes hat monsters are at certain places (excluding changing quests) so like in the middle of the day there could be peasants and at night could be something else, this would also mean that the brightness of the area changes

Time changes I think would not be good, as they are not only graphics hungry, but also they would have the, what I am calling, Pokemon effect. Named after the amount of time you spend trying to change your display times so the Pokemon whcih were unique to night time would spawn in a time which was playable for you. However in this case you can't change the time on a whim to "capture" these pokemon, and would miss out on said advantages if your only play time was during the game's day time. Anyway I do like this idea of God Battles, however don't you think that it is a bit of a coincidence that there are 5 races and 5 gods? I believe that the GW2 team have already assigned Gods to races.

Example: Char = Balthazar due to their fighting and fire like nature Melandru = Sylvari nature etc

  • Note* This is only speculation and should not be represented as fact.

This is a great idea if a solid way of implementing it could be worked out | my sugestion for such a thing is dont use 24 hr clocks shortn seasons to example: 1 month each days to 8 hr cycles that way no mater what time you play you are given the chance to experience day and night as well as different seasons.. some areas can have minor changes where others are very durastic.. granted this may require extensive programing i would enhance the game play as well as build types for a given area. 4.71.197.250 14:33, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Waiting 3-9 months to do something only availabe in a certain season does not appeal to me. --Risus 22:16, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Day and night would change twice as quickly as in the real world, as would seasons. That way no particular latitude or longitude in the real world would get to be synched all the time, and everyone could experience everything.

"Char = Balthazar due to their fighting and fire like nature." But that will create much damage to the lore of the game because Chars believe that their is no gods!!!

nice idea of every race have only one god but... asura wont have gods charr same idea i guess norn wont have gods too... but if they want it in GW2 i guess its nice to have this combinations NORN-balthazar (because they want to fight for favor) SYLVARI-melandru (they have the most with nature etc.) ASURA-lyssa (they are the smartest creatures so lyssa...) CHARR-grenth (*doh* they are evil at the most places even against them own races! (pyre fierceshot) HUMAN-dwayna (i dont know why but this was the only remaining god XD)

As for waiting to do something I have a solution. With the migration thing of animals to other parts and flooding of the lands etc have it so theres no actual main quests or important npc's there so then if you want to so a special on the side seasonal thing (seasonal quests like we have already anyone?) in these areas then you can and it won't affect the core game as its like the holiday quests we have now. This will keep players coming back in 3 months or so after they complete everything else as it would mean they have more content and a reason to play again. (remember final fantasy 12 the totristo hunting miniquest only available in the giza rains or the stones for the village in the dry? things like that side things that are seasonal) also different time durations for day/night would be a great thing to that person posted above but have it so its still a good duration between the times etc but not too much or too little.122.109.252.43 02:12, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
cool idea, someone finally found a use for gw seasons

i like the idea of having day and night throughout the real time day! also i was thinking that since this game is going to be presistant world i think that things like assassisns should have more of an advantage over say a ranger who would not be able to see as well (being dark) also i think that different mobs should come out at night like say more undead/demon based mobs would come out at night and more natural based animals such as bears, big cats.. also i think that NPC's should react to the change in time like less NPC's should be out in the streets of a big city at night as in the day and not like important NPC's but just the extras to give it more of a real world feel! also as for the weather i like what was said erlier about how water type move would be more powerful in the rain but what i was thinking was mabey Anet could make it happen sometimes in PvE but have a percentage for PvP such as a player could fight one battle in the rain and the next in scorching heat one buffing water and the other buffing fire and as for none magic it could be based on thier armor such as if you had dragon scale armor it would be better for rain rather than say iron armor.~RedRabbit

what about having seasons like this- the whole map is divided up into 4 sections top left hand top right hand bottom right and bottom left hand sections when the game first comes out the top left hand corner of the map will be i spring the top right hand in summer botto right hand in fall and bottom left hand the seasons will move in a clockwise motion moving about enough space to make a complete rotation in about 3/4 of the normal time of a year in real life. day and night will have 2 lines on a map 1 representing day the other representing night they will always be about 8 hours apartthus making day and night 8 hours each and on that map it'll show radiation from each of the lines representing where it is day and night also if one line is at the edge of the map it willrevert itself over to the other side but it still will be day or night where it was on that side for another 4 hours also there will be to forms for most enemeys day and night form . if a quest says kill 1 pony-hopper you could either kill its day or night form to complete the questand with days and nights being 8 hours long each if you can only play till 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. you will be alternating tween day and night every time you play [Not signed]

If someone was interested in my opinion, I would say that I would love see environmental effects in persistent parts of universe that may or may not be season specific and ideally time change too, but not necessarily different animals’ appearance or migration, - this may be too much; I would not want to have season bound quests in PvE and in PvP, such as RA or TA I would love to see environmental effects that are season specific while traveling from Arena to Arena.
