There is a reason why this is the most popular enchant remover among good mesmers. It's fine. -- nüklaer | VII | selfless self promotion 20:50, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- This is the most popular because mesmers get the skill early in the game as skill rewards. Then they see all the other enchant removers and figure out how much shatter enchantment sucks.
There's a reason why its so high, not to disappoint you, a Domination Mesmer with 13 attribute pts. will deal 89 armor ignoring damage in one blow and since the Mesmer has a huge arsenal of damage dealing armor ignoring skills like Backfire, Empathy,Energy Surge, etc., the recharge seems just fine, a group of Me with this stuff is devastating enough.--ShadowFog 00:16, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Those skills don't do direct damage. If you are getting spiked by mesmers go back to PvE.
- Yeah, and you should go back with him, since when did Esurge didn't deal direct damage? Since when did mesmers stopped being the second best midline spike support? -- NUKLEAR IIV 19:40, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- It doesn't directly do damage. Ever tried using it on someone with no energy? Seriously, if you get spiked by e-surge, GO BACK TO PVE. 89 damage every 26 seconds? Oh noes a good monk can heal that back with orison of healing which everyone knows is rubbish. Ha! that's a laugh. And it costs 15 energy on top of that. You're better off with Lightning Orb.

- I don't get these weird people who post perfectly balanced, often used skills and say that they are either overpowered or underpowered. I guess shatter enchantment is a bit underpowered in RA where you can't actually do a coordinated spike....but then playing a dom mez in RA probably isn't the smartest idea. Your better off with a WS dervish or a Monk atm. Demosthenes 17:57, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- In terms of utility at least, this would be a bit better if the recharge and/or energy cost were buffed a bit, even if the damage was decreased slightly.
- Admit it, this sucks as enchant removal. All other enchant removers either have lower recharge, lower cost, better conditionals, or remove multiple enchantments, or a combination.
- They are not used as often as this one is.
- So fuck theory craft. -- NUKLEAR IIV 15:30, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- Since in this post no one reads just criticize small details like examples in the statements or this starting sentence but not the idea here's my new format for shitty responses. So this thing deals 100 damage instantly if you are enchanted and you want to lower its recharge? This skill looks like many others that do a lot of damage in a single second, which explain why groups of the same profession(s) would go to some format(s) of PvP and exploit killing certain profession(s) instantly. Have you ever been spike by Mesmer(s) with skill(s) that look alike? Leave it as it is and screw the others.--ShadowFog 19:35, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- A lower recharge would give this more utility, but it would need a slightly lower damage too. Personally, I'd be in favour of 10 , 15-20 and maybe 10...58...70 damage. Since you'd be able to use it more often the overall damage output would be about the same, and though it would be less useable in spikes it would be able to remove more enchantments in a given amount of time and for the same energy. However, I can see that people might prefer this as a spike skill than a more general utility/pressure skill (ofc it would still be useable this way, but less effective).
- Shatter Enchantment is only popular because it is usually the first enchant removal that newbie mesmers learn, and it is a core skill. Then they get other enchant removers and figure out that shatter is crap. Seriously, if you are getting owned by the damage on shatter, you are bad. Oh noes, 98 damage every 26 seconds! I guess I'll go QQ in a stack of enchantments.
- You're the only one here who thinks Shatter is bad. 66.75.136.251 02:00, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

- I haven't even read the actual suggestion page, but based on the talk page I can say LOL. The only thing not amazing about shatter is that it costs 15 energy. It's a great skill. When's the last time you did that much damage and removed an enchantment without being an imbamancer? ~Shard 02:43, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Shatter Enchantment is used because it can spike along if req, since it deals quiet an amount of damage InfestedHydralisk 23:02, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Wow. The poster fails miserably. Okay, lets compare Shatter to one of the most OP skills in the game:SF.
- Shatter does the same damage as SF without needing to be cast twice. SF has AoE, but Burning can be removed while shatter's condition is basically non-existent, because if the other team doesn't have enchants they are a gimmick. SF doesn't remove an enchantment. SF and shatter cost the same energy and have the same cast time. SF is elite, shatter is not. SF has 3 recharge, Shatter has 25.
- Lets see, by that comparison, you can say that Shatter is not much weaker than one of the most powerful skills in the game.Crimmastermind 07:08, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
