Missing items from category[edit]

I found several items that should be included on this list, but are not. I checked the first one (abnormal seed) against an item that properly IS on the list (ancient lodestone), and I see two lines missing that I think should be there:

(preceded by vertical bar) stackable = "Yes" (preceded by vertical bar) type = (surrounded by double square brackets) "Salvage item"

Does anybody have a bot program or something that can find all of these pages and change them? I'll throw up a list if someone does. Daddicus 17:46, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Abnormal Seeds are not salvage items, they are a trophy. Almost all items are salvageable, but those in this category, or for that matter with the salvageable parameter, are those which say "salvageable item" in the game's item description. In other words, they are items whose sole purpose in the game is to be salvaged (or sold), most often for runes. Konig/talk 17:57, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
OK, I'll check the list and see if they are all "trophy" items. Thanks!
However, that brings up another question: How is a "trophy" indicated in the infobox area? Or, is a trophy simply something that doesn't fit into any other "type" value? Should there be a line "type=trophy"?
Also, it seems to me that abnormal seeds should at least contain the "stackable = Yes" line item, even if not type = salvage item. If you or others concur, then I'll check for that as well.
Finally, should I make changes as needed while I'm checking, since I'll be in the pages looking anyhow? There are 87 items currently in my list. (Or, is there a bot-type program that can do it if I provide the list?) Daddicus 18:15, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
A quick check into {{Item infobox}} showed me that if the |collector= parameter is filled out, then it automatically is placed as a Trophy (which is listed under type). Though I find this odd as not all collectable items are trophies (thanks to Nicholas primarily), the cases where such is the situation doesn't seem to have the collector parameter filled - probably cuz Nick is, so far, a one-time-per-item collector, and he's the main collector of such items, if not the sole.
Regarding "{{{1}}}" there is no such line in the Item infobox; type=salvageable item is automatically placed if either the |commonsalvage or |raresalvage parameters are filled. Considering that the former of the two are filled out on Abnormal Seed (and other trophy articles), the trophy type overrides the salvageable item type, effectively what you're wanting is done. This category just isn't where those articles go due to, tbh, rather confusing game (aka not fan-made) terminology.
I don't know what changes you think are necessary, nor do I know much on bots, so I can't answer the last question. Konig/talk 19:03, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I don't think we should count Nicholas as a collector, because (unlike the others): his request isn't consistent, his location isn't consistent, and he's never marked on the map. (Similarly, I think it's a kludge to treat Thackeray as a collector because he only offers a 1x exchange during the course of a quest, not really that different from any other reward system in a multi-stage quest).
Leaving out Nicholas, the articles on trophy and salvage item do a decent job explaining the difference. There's really only one collector that requests salvage items, and that's an intended {{anomaly}} by the game designers: Calissa Sedgwick asks for Charr Hide so that Fur is easier to obtain.
  • Otherwise: trophies always stack and can be sal'd (some into rare mats).
  • Salvage armor never stacks, can be sal'd (some into rare mats)
  • Salvage other always stacks and can be sal'd (some into rare mats).
The infobox data might be out-of-date because there have been changes to how the wiki classifies stuff...and we haven't always been good about follow through.
If you want to publish your list of 87 items, I'm sure Konig, myself, and others would be willing to help verify/validate your findings (after which we could hire a bot to perform the fixes). Otherwise, you can start editing and folks can revert if something looks off. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:19, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Mountain Minotaur Hide is not on this list, which i believe it should, could someone add it? --meheezen (talk) 20:42, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
