Pushed back ?[edit]

Another skill update pushed back because bad players on the Test Krewe (COUGH DAMON COUGH) won't let obviously overpowered skills get nerfed. UGHHH.--Four Year Strong 00:11, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

It's Anet that can't tell the difference between a balanced skill and a god awful overpowered one 60.234.197.191 00:28, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
What skill are you referring to? --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 00:33, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
I'm curious as well - citation needed. Tashiro 01:45, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
I don't understand. Is this Test Krewe talk? Was a skill update supposed to come out? Elementalist skill update, by any chance? 217.129.113.149 02:10, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Nevermind, I just saw the "skill update" note on the official site. WANT IT. 217.129.113.149 02:34, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
What note? --Deus 02:32, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Looks fun. Too bad that they're nerfing the armor-ignoring damage, but that was going to happen anyway.--Deus 03:28, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Why can't they just release one thing at a time? I'd rather take a slow steady stream of updates instead of huge chunks that are months apart. Release the stuff that is ok'd! Previously Unsigned 01:24, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

It turns out that it's more expensive to a development team to release 10 updates than to release 1 update worth 11-15 smaller ones (depending on what's being affected). This is especially true for skill updates: it takes a lot of time to do even a bad job of balancing. Alternatively, they can release more often if we as players are willing to deal with buggier outcomes. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:38, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

What?[edit]

What was actually updated? --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 00:33, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

new list for Nic?? .. not visiting same places ??? I guess we will find out on monday 2.223.139.10 00:36, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

dismal yet again[edit]

i cant remember the last time we had a meaningful (content/skill balance>metashift) update. 86.150.163.222 00:50, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

February the dervish update could be concidered the last update that caused a metashift, after that it has been nothing but rebalancing (aside from Shield Guardian). Da Mystic Reaper 00:59, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
yeah cos it's all about you lol ... i'm sure the live team are working as hard as they can with limited staff and resources and people expecting everything handed to them on a plate for free are just lame, try getting a grip on reality 2.223.139.10 01:01, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Truthfully what they have given us between the skill updates (WoC, Scarred Psyche) have been pretty satisfying for me. Just be patient untill the paragon update and enjoy GWB. Da Mystic Reaper 01:07, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
I wait for a paragon update for 1 year now... (When it should be out) :/ Also more differences between Ranger PvE and PvP skills you only have a few effective build in PvE, cause much enemies neither bleed nor can be poisoned. edit: I also wait for a balance war<-->derv acutally meta is broken in my opinion, nuthin' special on wars anymore, also armour is useless 'coz of frenzy --Kali Shin Shivara 01:11, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Well they can't work on all professions at once so it may take up a bit of time to balance out all of the professions between the maintenance and the new contents. Da Mystic Reaper 01:16, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
You'd think after 6 years + Development time they'd be able to balance their classes. Break Fu 10:44, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Who's been working at Anet for 6 years? 24.197.253.243 12:52, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Ha, you think that's bad, in WoW Blizzard has an iron grip on how people make their builds, and they've waaaay worse issues balancing their simple game. They have 100 skills to balance, GW has 1000. In WoW you don't even really need to choose skills, just take all the points from one tree and hot link all your skills. Compare that with the variations of builds you can make in GW. 98.124.27.97 22:24, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Waited only one year for the Paragon update? Guild Wars 2: Most anticipated game of 2009. There you have it folks. 108.222.32.186 10:30, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

RSS feed updated... game didnt?[edit]

My RSS for the official website's update page update with this (I apologize for this heinous wall of text):

moved to User:Tennessee_Ernie_Ford/Temp/Elementalist_rebalance
moved to User:Tennessee Ernie Ford/Temp/Elementalist rebalance developer notes

Did this even happen? Did anyone else get this? 74.210.50.20 02:33, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

I've moved the update-that-didn't happen to a user page. This talk page is to discuss the update that did happen, which (as noted) wasn't all that much. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:29, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
A web guy at ANet jumped the gun. Those responsible for the preview post have been sacked. –Jette 03:55, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Sauce on sack fact? --99.100.7.163 05:58, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Shouldn't it be moved to the skill update preview if it's going to occur in the near future instead of being on a user page. Da Mystic Reaper 12:22, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
If there is a reason the change hasn't been implemented and the notes weren't officially posted yet (despite the notes being written and everything) then noting it in the skill update preview would be jumping the gun considerably. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 16:35, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

"Save Yourselves!"[edit]

  • Prediction: At the current rate of progress, Paragons will -very likely- be the last updated profession. If its insider humor on Anet's part, I'm laughing! ^_^ --Falconeye 06:31, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Hmm my bet is that it will be the monk or ranger. Da Mystic Reaper 13:16, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
If they change the smiting line I might actually get back on my monk.91.177.146.152 13:18, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Well, 'Save Yourselves!' is a warrior skill... So if you're goig by that, I think warriors will be last. ^^" Derikvyreflame 19:20, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
No he's aiming at the imbagon. Da Mystic Reaper 20:44, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

back to the update in question. :)[edit]

It says made sure he is well stocked, wonder if we will get other items. I mean a few fireworks are nice, but you can farm and buy more for the time. New weapons, minis maybe?.... :)Spark-TBa 11:42, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Dont know, maybe sleepers that glow in the dark and do "pweek pweek" when you run with it ? Or a very usefull manga-style ninja disguise ? I dont know what would add more value to gw... Yseron - 90.15.61.100 13:17, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
It could just mean that they finally addressed the various bugs in Nick's original route: his text wasn't always translated successfully, his orientation was odd, he wouldn't appear if WiK was active, and some local conditions caused him to spawn intermittently. We'll know more on Monday. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:29, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
This is an easy question to answer. We know that Nick had enough locations to visit for 2.6 years. Just do the math. http://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Feedback_talk%3AJohn_Hargrove&diff=1764808&oldid=1763863 58.106.135.239 12:41, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
I dont understand that last post. The 2.6 years and 137 places ended last week, so there is no easy answer as to what was changed. Dang cant log in on phone :(. This is Spark-Tba. 178.102.21.131 14:27, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
