The Keepers Of The Equilibrium is an interactive, role-playing Guild whose storyline revolves around the world of Camelot, King Arthur, and the Knights of the Round Table. Its membership is composed of a tight-knit group of active roleplayers whose characters are a mix of individuals from Arthurian lore and new individuals from the Guild Wars timeframe. The Keepers' background story has been carefully composed to weave the world of Camelot into the Guild Wars universe without changing aspects of the game setting. In time, all members are encouraged to develop their own background story to explain their past and how they came to be among the new denizens of Camelot. These stories and the Guild's lore and codes are posted on the Guild's forum at http://equi.forumotion.net

Guild Keepers Of The Equilibrium Chalice Small.jpg Recruitment

The Keepers Of The Equilibrium is a selective Guild which carefully chooses motivated, active and especially mature members who are ready to get involved in this specific atmosphere. While the Guild tends to recruit members who are 18 years of age and older, anyone may be considered for membership if they meet a few basic requirements:
  • Having an interest in the Medieval world
  • Wanting to actively participate in a Role Play environment where members speak in mature terms and act in a mature way
  • Favoring in-character interaction over out-of-character chat
  • Seeking a Guild with a background story that does not alter any aspect of the game setting
  • Willing to learn and interested in learning both about the game and our setting
In order to have a better idea about their initial place in the Guild, prospective members are encouraged to read the article entitled "Directives for Newcomers" on the forum of the Keepers Of The Equilibrium.
While the Guild does have times when it pushes recruitment as an organized effort, membership into the Keepers Of The Equilibrium is revolving, thus potential members may join at any time by contacting one of its members in-game.

Guild Keepers Of The Equilibrium Chalice Small.jpg Organization

Ruled by King Arthur and supported by the Guild's Grandmaster Merlin, the Keepers of the Equilibrium operates as a feudalistic society, complete with a list of specifically crafted ranks to simulate the Medieval World: the Regents, the Nobles, the Knights, the Clergy, and the Third State. Its members participate in an assortment of PvE, PvP, and RP activities, including quarterly jousting tournaments, group exploration, and social celebrations.
Beyond just being role players, the Keepers Of The Equilibrium also take their PvE and PvP actions seriously, helping to train new members to work together in the field, properly rune their armor, and complete missions which might otherwise be too difficult with only NPCs. All new members are assigned experienced martial and clerical tutors who help them progress in their training in a methodical, organized manner. Their training is divided into small, manageable chunks to help them find their place within Camelot's walls. In return, members are asked to make donations to the Guild's chest which is then used to properly outfit those members in need of help with armor or weapons.

Guild Keepers Of The Equilibrium Chalice Small.jpg A Brief Background

(The Keepers Of The Equilibrium's full background story and theological beliefs can be found on "The Setting" and "The Gods".)
In the age of Tyria, Cantha, and Elona, the time of Camelot has almost all but been forgotten by man as historical documents of that civilization perished long ago. However, once Galahad found the Holy Grail, Merlin believed that humankind would be at peace and retreated to the magical realm he had built under the lake where his love, Viviane, was born. Unfortunately, things were not as foreseen and Camelot would fall with Merlin trapped in the lake with Viviane forever, in a Tower of Air beneath the Lake of Ice. Thus, Merlin survived in this in-between world while thousands of years passed and the planet experienced much change.
Merlin was unaware of what was occurring on the surface but could not stand the idea that Camelot had fallen. One day, a huge cataclysm rocked the planet, shaking the earth down to the lake's world: the charr had begun the searing of Ascalon. The searing released Merlin from the Tower of Air and the Lake of Ice, and he roamed the world once more, relearning the magic that he had lost due to the consummation of his love with Viviane. It was then that Dwayna and Grenth appeared to him.
Merlin was charged with preserving the equilibrium of gods, for the five gods each saw something in Merlin that pleased them. To do this, he was ordered to recreate Camelot from its ashes, to comb the land for those in today's world worthy of holding the title Keeper of the Equilibrium, to find the best of knights and form them in the ways of former times. To help in his task, the gods also resurrected certain individuals from Camelot's past: Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, Mordred, Perceval, The Fisher King, Viviane, Gawain, and Morgane Le Fay. As time progressed, Merlin found strong individuals from Tyria, Cantha, and Elona to join Camelot, and the gods tested the kingdom, leading to other resurrections.
