Question[edit]

Maintainable with GoS? Whiplash513 23:38, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Fully maintainable with Glyph of Swiftness, a weapon of Enchanting, and at least 15 ranks in Water Magic. --Kheraz Zarahi 11:38, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
I like that this is maintainable. It gives more reason to go into Water Magic for protection, instead of being limited to Earth Magic just to avoid death. Take this at rank 16 with GoS at rank 8 or so, and you can maintain this and Frigid Armor to avoid burning and give yourself a good speed and armor boost. I like that combo for self-defense. Makes Water more versatile, I think. - Ara Ara 01:50, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Related skills[edit]

As per the formatting guideline, skills should be related in practical use, not mechanics. Yes Armor of Mist provides armor, but that is more a bonus side effect, it is used in every practical situation primarily as an enchantment based speed boost, similar to Flame Djinn's Haste or Storm Djinn's Haste. Only Avatar of Balthazar provides the same effect (IMS and armor bonus), but it is never used in a similar situation and as such the relationship is purely mechanical and noting it serves no purpose. The armor skills are used purely to provide armor, Windborne Speed is used because it can target other players or allies, not just as a self speed boost and Burning Speed is used primarily to kill yourself. FDH, SDH and Armor of Mist are interchangeably seen on flagger bars depending on the specific spec of a E/any, Rt/E or Mo/E flagger (although Mo/E flaggers almost exclusively use SDH). I could just use my one revert, but I figured it would be nicer to explain it first and hope you read it and respond with your justification for listing useless information Briar. tl;dr The related section is about related skills. not how the skill is used in the current meta-game. This skill does 2 things. It modifies your movement speed and it provides bonus armor. As does every single other skill that was on that list. If you think they're not related your either high or stupid. <3 --71.193.48.146 11:31, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, rephrase that, all the ones you removed from that list. Btw if thats the new standard your using for that list then you need to add Icy Shackles because its used to slow down anyone chasing you. </sarcasm> --71.193.48.146 11:37, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Try reading the actual guideline and the discussion on the talk page. Every other skill on that list does not do that, only Avatar of Balthazar does, do you want that to be the only related skill? Also, speed boost does not equal snare. Misery 11:38, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Read very carefully. I said "Provides bonus armor and modifies your movement speed. That makes the skills related. That is actually information i found usefull at a time before because i used it to make a runner build for my elementalists (yes i know it sounds stupid but i didnt wanna pay some crappy douche for a droks run). The point is that the other skills modified both your armor and your movement speed. Thus they are related. as in one could be used to counter the other or one has synergy with the other or one would be wise to put into the same skill bar as the other. Related means that they share common charactheristics. Not where they are used in the current metagame. as i said above. --71.193.48.146 11:45, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Avatar of Balthazar is the only actually related skill in my opinion. Only skill that gives armor and speed boost out of these. Sure, Armor of Earth modifies your speed aswell, but in negative. If we would call this a related skill, it's the same as saying damage skills being related to healing skills :P - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.pngTalk 11:55, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

orly? Btw the point of that was that (in some rare cases) Self damaging skills ARE related to self healing skills. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.193.48.146 (talk).
Duplicate skills are obviously related... And none of those are self damaging. - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.pngTalk 12:08, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
So i herd Health sacrifice makes you sacrifice health? --71.193.48.146 12:11, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Health sacrifice isn't the same as damage. As health steal isn't the same as healing. - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.pngTalk 12:16, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
So i herd healt sac made your red-bar go down and that stealing health made your redbar go up? i heard damage and healing do the same basic concepts. --71.193.48.146 12:19, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Those touch skills are not related (other than the duplicates), what was your point? Let's look at the skills I removed, Avatar of Balthazar, elite, not an enchantment, tied to a primary attribute and can only be used by Dervishes. I might accept it is related for PvE running purposes, but I don't think anyone uses Armor of Mist for running, correct me if I am wrong. Burning Speed, no armor modification, it sets you on fire. Armor of Frost, no speed modification. Frozen Armor, no speed modification. Armor of Earth, negative speed modification, self snare instead of speed boost. So, how exactly did every skill I remove provide both a speed boost and an armor bonus? Were you just being lazy with your revert? Which skill were you trying to keep specifically? Misery 12:45, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Also, if you want to change the definition of related skills on this wiki, feel free to bring it up on the guideline I have already linked. What you are referring to currently belongs in the see also section. Misery 12:48, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
From taking a glance at the guideline and seeing what the skills do, I'd probably go with FDH, SDH, and Balth. --JonTheMon 14:38, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
I don't have a strong objection to Balth, so I could live with that. Misery 14:45, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
It seems that this discussion sorta goes back to needing a list of +armor skills and/or a link to the +IMS skills page. --JonTheMon 15:19, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
There are a gazillion lists that need to be made, but don't worry! This wiki is almost complete and there is nothing to do any more! Misery 16:19, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm removing Flame Djinn's Haste and Storm Djinn's Haste from related skills since the only relation is the increased movement speed, rather than increased movement speed and increased armor (not to mention that there's already a link to skills that provide a speed boost right below related skills. I'm adding Dark Escape because it is IMS and damage reduction. Armor of Earth is debatable since it actually slows you down rather than speeds you up in addition to providing armor. -- User Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 23:40, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
