The new GW:EN skill "Aura of Stability: For 5...17...20 seconds, target other ally cannot be knocked down (5E ¼C 12R)" makes this even more pointless. Suggested change:

"For 5...17...20 seconds, whenever target ally would be knocked down by a foe, that foe is knocked down instead and suffers 10...70...85 holy damage."

Sort of a cros between Aura of Stability and Shield of Judgement. Although it could be maintained on 3 people constantly, it's not too overpowered because, well there aren't that many knockdowns and if you keep doing it after the first time you desevve everything you get.

I like that idea aswell as making Ray of judgment causing burning even if the foe isn't a minion, this skill was a joke from the beginning, no one would use it even if they made it a non-elite signet with 1 second cast time and 1 second recharge so please arena net make something. --Cursed angel 22:55, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Question: If this is used and an enemy uses Grapple what happens? Does he get knocked down and you don't or what? --70.105.21.208 22:34, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Seeing as the enemy doesn't knock you down, I'd assume you'd fall down too. Barkingllama 06:04, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Used this today at the Jade Quarry. More useful then people think especially against assassins and those who rely on knocking you down. 16:00 14 November 2010

BUFF Me![edit]

Make this skill trigger on all KDs please... right now you have balanced stance showing this up... Also, perhaps make it 1...2(3)...3(5) KDS. It might have a minimal use then.

This should have been a protection prayers elite, adding a healing effect + KD on oponent should make this skill nice (but still underpowered compared to RC or SoD btw...). Pd: plz sign your comments GWW:SIGN --Rayd 17:33, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
"Brace Yourself" from the Paragon line has a slower recharge (12 sec vs 5), is not elite, but does damage like SoJ so I just don't see the value add (time for damage and self targeting, but also elite vs normal). This would be much better if it had a secondary use, like being highly spammable to synch with Zealots Fire - 5 seconds is far too long for a spam skill, especially a single target limited use spam skill. My only attempt at using this skill in PvP was in a ZF spamming build in HA (we had 4 monks and I had the most smite skills), but it just wasn't effective enough (too much downtime). --Falseprophet 20:01, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
I've used it well with Smiter's Boon in TA. But the majority of healing in that case came from a Split Ritualist; the monk with this was more or less a distraction. This could use some damage, higher then SoJ because it's trigger isn't met as often. 71.245.167.36 05:45, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

This skill is pretty useless. But it would completely shut down a KD warrior. Ojamo 00:18, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Would be nice if it was changed to something like Aegis - with increased cost, recharge time and smaller area. In it's current form it serves as an anti KD spike spell - but that role can be taken by a non-elite skill for some extent. SamoK 20:02, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

At least give it a reversal of damage effect on the enemy. Necromas 18:01, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Not useless[edit]

More useful now with AoS nerfs. Good teams have ran this in arenas. 193.35.134.151 11:21, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Probably a stupid question[edit]

Ok, definitely a stupid question, but...What if two players are using BP and one of them uses a KD skill on the other? Does the KD effect just vanish? Does it bounce around for a few seconds waiting for one of the enchantments to wear off? Does it get stuck in an endless loop and cause the universe to collapse? (Ok, I'm guessing it's not the last one.) Anyway, I was just curious if anyone had tried this or had seen it happen. Thefount 21:21, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I tested this with a guildie a while back, and have forgotten entirely. There was an instant KD iirc, but god knows who on. Lord of all tyria 21:23, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
(late response, woo!) What should happen in theory is both enchantments would just cancel each other out, causing no change in who would get KD'd. However it will only knock them down for the normal two seconds, even if they used Backbreaker or a Stonefist Insignia. In theory. <>Sparky, the Tainted 03:36, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
I think that the person who would've been knocked down would be knocked down (their BP would trigger the other monks' BP, then end, and the other monk's PB would cause the KD). Furthermore, I believe that the smite monk would be KDd, regardless of whether or not they were the target of the original KD. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 11:42, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

My stupidity, or why you should read the entire description of the skill[edit]

I'm such an idiot. I thought this would be a great skill to combine with something like Drunken Blow so that I caused damage, a condition and the knockdown would bounce back to my foe. Imagine my surprise when I tried this and ended up flat on my back. Oh, the skill says the next knockdown caused by a foe. Yeah, I'm an idiot, but hopefully at least someone out there gets a laugh out of a my lack of reading comprehension. Thefount 01:41, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't believe so. It says that it knocks down the foe that is inflicting the knockdown, so it wouldn't have synergy/usefulness with Drunken Blow -/- Discuss 00:06, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Possible buff?[edit]

  • The next time you would be knocked down by a foe, that foe is knocked down for double the duration instead". For an elite skill that provides no damage and no true gain I could hardly see this as overpowered. Would be extreamly fun vs backbreaker too :D. Barkingllama 03:20, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
would probably just cap the counter KD at 4 seconds.--74.61.209.219 23:52, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
A 5 secharge spell that KDs someone for 6 seconds and stops KDs sounds a bit overpowered to me. Sure it would be fun to use, but not to the warriors that just got their utility skills destroyed. The idea is to encourage active defence against KDs and such, not completely prevent KDs from being usable. I say just add in a bit of healing or damage when KDs are prevented if you really want a buff. Despite how little it is liked, the skill is certainly not bad, and does see use. 71.31.157.150 20:02, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Just make it apply to all knockdowns for its entire duration rather than just the first and ending. --Eyekwah 12:06, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

O_O[edit]

Why on Earth did they nerf this? it never saw use anyway, so i guess it doesn't really matter... Invincible Rogue 22:21, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, apart from dR, y'know, winning a gold cape with it. Lord of all tyria 22:22, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Because of a PvX Build. Though idk whether the elite skill was really the essential part that made it so useful... —ZerphatalkThe Improver 22:24, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Reducing the duration makes it a more active skill, so you should see the KD coming from bull's and act to prevent it, rather than throwing it on anyone near an enemy. Lord of all tyria 22:25, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Stonefist[edit]

I tried this on 2 W/Mo one with stonefist and the other without and went to the isle of nameless and fought master of hammers. apparently stonefist will not lengthen the knockdown on the foe.--74.61.209.219 01:30, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

A change for this skill?[edit]

I never really saw much use for this skill, aura of stability works pretty well(and its not elite). I thought up an idea I later posted I posted on the GuildWiki page for this. Basically, I think that this skill should be turned into an elite reversal of fortune that causes knockdown to the enemy who dealt the damage. Since it would be more like a prot skill than before, monks would probably use it instead of mesmers. Make it last 8 seconds like the others and keep the recharge like it is, and there could finally be a viable smiting elite for monks to use. Arcdash 17:36, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

As long as recharge is 8 and 3 seconds duration, perhaps. However, it would still be rather broken. Dark Morphon(contribs) 13:41, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Maybe they could change it into a ressurection skill, every other monk ability has a res why not smiting, unyielding's elite why can't this be, the wording for the skill sounds ok too, like the gods have changed their mind, could also knock down all nearby foes and deal damage while rising or set foes on fire, may be more useless requiring your ally to die but imagine AB people die all the time there! i dunno... just another guy trying to think of a way for this skill to be used
"The next time target ally would die, one nearby foe dies instead."? Ooh! Then we can change RoF to "Resurrect target foe. One nearby foe dies."!!! User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 11:46, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Why not, "For 120 seconds, the next time a foe dies, one random ally is resurrected with 25% health and 0 energy."? It would have to be balanced out (which I don't care to try and do), but I think that's a pretty neat idea. FelixCarter User FelixCarter Sig.png 05:20, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
I like the idea about being an elite reversal spell, but not of fortune as mentioned, an elite reversal of damage. Reflects a percentage of damage and knocks down attacker. It would never leave my smite monks bar. The damage reflected could be scaled with attribute, and knock down have a chance of failing if smiting prayers are less than 5 to discourage unspecc'd usage by prot monks.Grikitis 13:27, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
I think this skill, to be elite, be a carbon copy of Reversal of Damage except adding the prevents KD and causes other foe to KD. Pretty stupid skill for PvE. Maybe a bit longer recharge time. Anybody else find this skill a waste?

Removed note[edit]

I removed the note about not working against Thunderclap because Thunderclap no longer causes a KD. 70.126.107.48 15:46, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm guessing that it will not work against Lightning Surge, since it is the hex causing the knockdown not the 'foe'? I cant test it. -/- Discuss 00:09, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
I imagine it WOULD prevent the KD but wouldn't KD the foe. 99.241.34.49 03:17, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
It works against Lightning Surge and KDs the caster. Tested in Hard Mode, Plains of Jarin against Stormseed Jacarandas.
Thank you for this valuable piece of information, amigo. --Eavil <3s You 06:03, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

This skill is actually not that bad[edit]

Preventing a knockdown AND knocking down the opponent that tried to knock you down is pretty good, especially considering the low energy, cast time, and recharge. The problem is that since it's elite it's a little weak and changing it to be non-elite would make it too good so some extra damage would make it worthwhile to use. Possibly it could be changed into a regular skill and/or make the enchanted target do additional damage against knocked down targets but both of those would probably lead to pretty heavy abuse (especially the latter). Pjwned 02:57, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

It was OP when spammable during the pre-Smiter's Boon times ZencowUser Ox rider Sig.png 09:59, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Prevent any knockdown, if caused by a foe, that foe is knocked down instead? 62.197.173.242 10:32, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I think he meant when smiter's boon was actually viable to use in pvp (obligatory LOLOAWLOAWLOAW it got nerfed so hard it was never viable comment) it was pretty good to use this and get a pretty huge healing bonus too because of divine favor and boon doubling it, which sounds about right, but now it needs a little something more. Psychic Instability[edit]

Just tested this, and for some reason, BP doesn't prevent the knockdown effect from PI. Any ideas why? --Healing Burst.jpgKdsHealer page talk 03:09, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

How did you test it?--Relyk 03:13, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
I used BP, then started casting a skill and told my friend to PI me. How else could I have tested it? --Healing Burst.jpgKdsHealer page talk 03:58, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Ok, I think I found out why. Knockdowns have a target and a source. BP won't trigger if the source doesn't exist, or if you are the source. So apparently with PI, you are technically knocking yourself down, which makes sense, but still, it would have been nice if it did stop it. --98.94.121.84 17:18, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
