Bonder[edit]

I find that hiding a hero with a bonder build for the NPC is quite useful --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:24.126.18.170 (talk).

BiP[edit]

Just use the old trick of using a bip hero to lure the npc away by having him heal the hero. 82.95.65.117 09:53, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Why use a hero? You can do it yourself, I solo'd this quest that way, used BiP on her twice then kept running while she tried to cast heals on me. 62.21.0.55 18:37, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Does this bip method actually work?? i used it loads of times with my hero and she wasnt moving at all when i tried to lure her :S 86.138.9.241 23:40, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

You have to wait until she actually starts the ritual (or else the programming still tells her to move to that spot), and even then, it took me several tries to get her to move. Cast BiP two times on her, hope she heals me once, cast it another two times, back up, wait... it helps a lot, actually, if you bring some other heroes with healing. That lets you cast more BiP to hopefully attract her attention. When I succeeded at doing it, Tsuirai just barely moved enough to be out of aggro range of the Afflicted - she was on the shoreline pretty much - but it was enough. Dunno how people get her to "run all the way up the hill". 67.188.100.103 03:40, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
She moved for me to heal undead minions. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 03:43, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
Yehh i used the minion method with aura of the lich in the end.. found it alot easier than the bip method 86.151.245.195 21:38, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
I did the same almost unexpectedly. I was not paying attention when I realized the second group was approaching. I was still in engaged with the first group, so I let out an oh well and just took my time fighting the first group. At that point I was curious how far Tsuirai healing range was; so I casually kept pulling her from just onto land. And in fact most of the fight she might have been still in the pool. She was able to cleanse the area without engaging from another fight, though a second group came along the same path as the first group. But quickly died when the mission was updated. After the last two HM missions, I was extremely relieved about this quest.--Gungraave 21:37, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

From my experiences, it seems that once Tsuirai reaches a certain point in the ritual (specifically, somewhere between the "Kaijun Don" and "Let cease the seething" lines), she will no longer move from her location. Therefore, if you wish to pull her away to a safe distance, it is necessary to do so before she reaches that point in her lines. Done correctly, it's possible to pull her all the way to the other side of Teipao Island before she will no longer move, although it's not necessary to pull her THAT far away. - Zaxares 05:35, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

It looks like they fixed the glitch, we've been trying, and she refuses to be pulled beyond the water. Tashiro 03:34, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
This still works, I did it using order of the vampire and pull him to the center of the Island. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 87.251.42.254 (talk) at 14:27, 26 September 2011 (UTC).
It is not fixed, i just beat it SOLO, as BIP with no Combat whatsoever.~Nelson(n122333)User N122333 sig image.jpg 00:12, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
I just did it one minute ago, took me 3 tries or something, but I pulled her all the way to the other side of the island. Also the thing about not moving any more is false, halfway through the ritual, I saw an afflicted coming too close (only pulled her up to the hill) so pulled her further back until she was safe. 62.235.166.234 12:43, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Nelson's method gave me the key to success, but : 1) do it alone, other characters (PC or NPC) may cause Tsunrai not to follow (she tends to 'balance' her position between characters). 2) BiP has the flaw of needing a target; Order of pain (for instance) doesn't need any, so you can manage her 'aggro' on you more easily. -- Crazy 17:41, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

While I despise having to use a trick to make it through a quest, this one is impossible without it. However, I can't make even the trick work. I can get her to the edge of the shore, but she simply will not move further, and that's not far enough.
So, what's the second trick, to get her ALL the way out of aggro range? Daddicus 06:04, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
The timing of the trick is...tricky. She will pause to start speaking (and therefore stop healing) and, at some point in her speech, she'll stop following altogether. So, you have to make sure she has something to heal just before she makes the first pause...and keep giving her reason to heal. I've found that flagging other NPCs (and players) to the other side of the island before she arrives is helpful (so that she's not distracted between targets). And it helps to use something that keeps health far down. BiP or Illusion of Pain.
However, the first two times I went through this, I didn't know about the trick, so we had to keep her alive. It's a pain b/c of the AoE skills and, if you do manage to kill something, there's the aoe soulplosions. So, focus on party-wide heals/prots (item spells, like Protective Was Kaolai are very helpful as are Union/Shelter + Armor of Unfeeling). In NM, you can pretty much bring a party of 5-6 heal/prot and the rest on interrupts. The first time, I think I killed about half the foes; the second, maybe a third. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 06:38, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Well, I'll keep trying then. I got tired of burning 10k a trip trying to make it work the "right" way, and failing miserably every time, so I'm using the trick.
I do find it amusing that people are saying how easy it is, and then specifying builds for all 6 characters using skills I don't even have yet. Heck, I had to use a tome just to get BiP! Daddicus 07:39, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
If it was already unlocked, you can just use a hero with BiP. I literally went into the zone with a single nec hero with BiP and a blank bar otherwise.--File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 10:01, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
First thing I tried. The hero refuses to cast it, even when I click the button for him. Daddicus 15:19, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I really hope that GW2 isn't loaded with so many "defend the kamikaze NPC" missions. I cannot get this irritating wench to move, no matter what I do or how many times I do it. I wait until she starts her routine, then I can stand on the island with her at the edge of the aggro bubble and BiP-sac myself to death but she won't move a millimeter. I've tried bringing hero Monk and Ritualist healers with some Elementalist warders to try and stand our ground defending her until she's finished, but we get completely Zerged in no time flat. If I could even pull her away enough for there to only be one or two mobs on her it would be doable, but trying to defend an uncooperative NPC against 20 or so afflicted all at once is insane. WTF? -- Tekn0mancer User Tekn0mancer-Awaken the Blood 19px sig.jpg (Talk) 02:47, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
What I found to be helpful (I just finished this) was to let her enter the water and then start casting BiP on her as you walk up the hill, back towards the way you came. It takes a bit, but she will follow you back up the hill and just miss the 1st wave, if you pull her in the south-westerly direction first as you make your way back up the hill. It still works, but you need to start casting BiP as soon as she hits the water in order to pull her back up towards the village.Kellenoftavadon 04:04, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
Yes. i flaged a mm with a few minion and Bip at the rocky outcrop just south (i think) of the village. Then i chaced Tsuriai and cast BiP on her till she was well out of the water ( not on the island ). at witch point i only had to deal with ONE foe group. It was a cake walk after that. I wasted so much time on that island with Bonders and such, i makes me sick.(Jaxx Hammer)(--166.250.96.58 04:21, 20 February 2012 (UTC))
It helped me a lot looking this video, hope it will help someone else! [1] --Erebo85 22:47, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, the video helped me finally get it in HM! I flagged my single hero to the far side of the island, cast BiP on Tsuriai 1-2 times, then spammed Order just outside Tsuriai's casting range. For me the trick was watching the compass like a hawk: he casts Patient Spirit the instant his dot reaches the edge of your bubble, but if you're too far away, he seems to lose interest in you. I kept him 1.25 to 1.5 aggro radius away from me while sacrificing health, then started backing-up as soon as he moved towards me, then turned and ran. Once you get him moving, he'll follow you all the way to other side of the island without stopping. --Mr Perfidy 23:39, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

How long...[edit]

Does it take for Tsuriai to finish her ritual? User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 12:10, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Dunno not more than 3 minutes. I left after quest updated - I'd killed like 4 mobs of afflicted. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 13:00, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Just timed it from when the quest log updated to say to protect her until it updated to say to see her for rewared - time was 02:30 from start to end of ritual. (Usaf1a8xx 21:05, 9 July 2011 (UTC))
I have a theory that it involves how many afflicted you've killed rather than how long you last. When I beat the quest (after a couple tries since it's pretty annoying) I was getting overrun by afflicted and I was about to die in 2 seconds with the rest of my party being dead, but then all of a sudden the afflicted all went away and the quest succeeded. Yeah, that could still easily indicate that it's timed but I'm pretty sure it took less than 2 minutes for that to happen. I could obviously be wrong, but it's possible. Pjwned 07:25, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps you should have stopwatched it...cuz I didn't kill a single enemy when i did it in 2:30. (Usaf1a8xx 21:58, 13 July 2011 (UTC))

Resurrection shrines with statues[edit]

Assuming you're going from Zen Daijun you can get blessings from an avatar of Dwayna and Melandru pretty easily. The avatar of Dwayna can give you +1 health regen (meh) and +10 armor (much better) if you kneel at the shrine right next to Zen Daijun (assuming the world has favor, which it pretty much always does now). Also, when you get Tsuriai and you're heading towards the lagoon there's a resurrection shrine where you can summon an avatar of Melandru and get +50 HP blessing as well as a healthy +20 armor against elemental damage blessing, which really helps with the annoying elementalists hurling Lightning Orbs everywhere. All of these buffs are pretty cheap as far as gold goes, and you can also get class specific buffs from the 2 avatars so if those apply to you then consider getting those as well.

I'd put this on the main article under the tips section but somebody might have an autism fit about it since shrine buffs help with everything.

Is it possible to complete this quest (with heroes) legitimately? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 98.165.220.249 (talk) at 06:17, 27 August 2011 (UTC).

Of course, with a MM, dual spirit spam heroes,a hideously overpowered mesmer and an ER prot hero you can hold out long enough for for the ritual to finish, just focus on the earliest mobs that arrived and use spirit walls to occupy afflicted while killing earlier ones. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 08:58, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
HM you get steamrolled no matter what the combo of meta/gimick builds you run (Usaf1a8xx 00:52, 5 November 2011 (UTC))

Finally Managed It[edit]

Ok, it's taken me loads of attempts, trying to copy everyone's suggestions but, I've finally managed it by fluke. I took an Aura of the Lich MM, 2 Rit heros, an ER Prot and Gwen with a domination build. Instead of waiting to fail, I attacked the first wave on the shore of the lake and the initiate followed me out to heal the party as we took the fight to the afflicted. Then it was a simple matter of retreating SW away from the Lagoon and letting her follow trying to heal the minions on the way. Surprisingly easy after all the hassle.

Damar 18:43, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

I found something similar. After many attempts, we tried something we had tried before, but this time it worked.
I suspect the glitch isn't consistent, which would explain why people are having so many different experiences. Serves us right for using a glitch in the first place, but actually fighting it out is completely hopeless, so ... Daddicus 00:35, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

No Need for Glitches[edit]

I was getting absolutely overwhelmed by the Afflicted and then suddenly Initiate Tsuirai declared it was done and they all died. So you don't need to try and glitch the mission, you just need to out heal the damage and let Initiate Tsuirai do her job. For the record I soloed the mission with the following builds, a Soultwisting Restoration Ritualist, a Monk with Healing Burst, a SoS Ritualist and two Discord Necromancers. I myself was on my Elementalist with a Searing Flames build in the mistaken belief I should fight the Afflicted horde. pixelante 1:20am, 25 Jan 2012

Nice. Was that NM or HM? I did it more or less the same way in NM too. But in HM it seems pretty hopeless with heroes.--71.185.41.90 06:59, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Just did it in HM with party of heroes (include a AoL MM that had summoned 3 minions by the time we reached the lagoon marker). Whipped out a vamp weapon once Tsurai was added to the party, headed straight for the quest marker and flagged the entire party all the way on the other side of that little island as far as I could flag them and just kept going to that marker (only thing I made sure is that I was close to him when he started the first dialogue). It took her a little bit but eventually she followed me all the away across the other side of the island (here's the screen cap). Do not try to come back to reaggro...if she's going to follow you she will. Did not need BIP at all. Didn't get to time it but the ceremony didn't take more than 2 minutes to finish and didn't have to fight a thing (saw one afflicted that made it barely within compass range and then went back out of compass range. --Dar Drakor 05:39, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Still need ... just a little ... help.[edit]

This frustrates me more than anything---Yes I've been doing exactly as all have suggested but it seems she has a knack to not heal me (no matter how low I am), prefer healing minions...and when I have the minions she won't follow them...or anyone else. This is frankly pissing me off and I'm ready to rip this ... "nice person's" ... head off. Any suggestions? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Non aplicable (talk) at 02:53, 15 February 2012 (UTC).

Incredibly Easy / Here's How[edit]

After watching the video Erebo left ( [2] ), I figured it out why I was having trouble with hard mode.

1) Get Blood is Power elite. (no cooldown and 3/4 sec cast and triggers enough health loss to snag her attention)
2) Move yourself using mouse clicks and not arrow keys or WASD keys. (I'll explain)
-also, consider having a Paragon hero with you only casting Fall Back. I did to boost us getting up the island faster. Don't believe it was necessary though.
3) When you hit the water, go straight for the island on the right (east) side, just like the video shows, and stop just out of the water.
4) Turn the camera to face Her. Once she hits her spot and STOPS, cast BiP on her once (you'll automatically run within range) AND then immediately click behind your character to run up the hill/island away from her. Don't turn the camera--keep facing her. Click a distance of only 2-3 steps worth, then click to move again. (she should only be at compass range when you first cast BiP, then when you click to run, she should fall just outside the range to continually follow you)
5) If she heals you, she stops. Cast BiP again (careful to not spam, or you die) AND click to move immediately after you cast to get her to re-follow.
6) Never move toward her. Always move away. The only time you should move toward her is when you are auto-running to cast BiP on her. If you need to re-engage her to chase you, cast BiP to do so and keep the mouse click at-the-ready to run away from her.

The problems most (probably) had were her healing them too fast and then she had no reason to move. If you immediately take damage in her radius (which you were inside when you cast BiP) but then you immediately run away from her, she will follow.

If you trying maneuvering with the keyboard, you won't move fast enough, and her heal will go off. She'll barely move, if at all. Clicking will auto-face you and move you, whereas the keyboard seems to have input lag. Also, she won't immediately run after you. Give her a sec to come to you (unless she got her heal off, then you repeat the "BiP cast and click-to-run" process). Hope that helps/makes sense. If not, whisper me IGN Monk Ky Kebero, and I'll take the 5 min to do it for anyone. WAZFile:User Wazwolf wolf.gif 11:31, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Its easier to heal a hero since you can remain slightly outside tsurai's healing range. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 12:20, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Burning Speed And Drunken Master[edit]

I edited the main article using a trick with Burning Speed and Drunken Master. I find it to be much easier than the BiP trick since every profession has access to burning speed. If anyone needs a video of how I did it, you may find it here. [3] --Spartan Destroyer 02:20, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Every profession has access to BiP, too (or a hero can take it). It's very similar to using minions (since burning offers a similar rate of degen). I don't think it's any easier/harder, but it's different enough to be worth including. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:29, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
On reflection, I left out the Drunken Master tip, as I think it's too prescriptive: getting the NPC to follow isn't as hard as making sure she has a solid target to follow around (and, upon reflection, Burning Speed might be a better choice than BiP, since it requires less micromanagement). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:36, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Seems good, even though it will likely not work on paragons/rangers/warriors. The main advantage of it is that its self targeting and thus you can select turai to observe her movements more easily. (BiP should be cast on a hero / something that isn't turai, effectively meaning you have to watch two targets) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 08:26, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
I've done it on several chars by casting BiP on her. Casting on her has the advantage that you'll know her spell range and can easily retreat just out of range. Tub 14:05, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Yes, it's a disadvantage to cast BiP on a hero.
Incidentally, the "keep her alive" method works well, too, after you get past the compulsion to try to bring damage. (Control skills are good, as well as cheap hexes and conditions, to keep the enemy distracted.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:24, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

For us, the NPC never completely stopped moving[edit]

With one of our party repeatedly casting Infuse Health, we were still able to move the initiate even after enemies were congregating at the quest marker. This was HM, btw. 67.246.60.56 18:02, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

Update[edit]

BiP Trick Still works as of Nov 1 2016. Cast BiP, Let her use Patient Spirit. Cast BiP again and move out of range of her. When her cooldown's up (4s), she'll walk towards you to recast it, repeat over and over and over and go way past the island because the afflicted wander 24.150.93.239 09:08, 1 November 2016 (UTC)

Hero leveling?[edit]

So today I did this on one of my alts using the BiP method, and took only a lvl 18 hero to spam it on. When the ritual finished all the level 24+ afflicted got instakilled and the hero lvl'd up to 19. I guess it's not too bad of an idea to lvl heroes here by repeating this quest via abandoning and retaking it? Even if it's not a big deal maybe it's worth noting that taking a lower level hero has some extra benefit to it. --DefinitelyNotHanz (talk) 13:26, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Were you inside the aggro range of the enemies at any point? Because if you were not, this is very interesting o.O You're not supposed to gain xp unless you are within aggro range of the dying enemy at any point or have dealt any damage to it. Jeree95 (talk) 10:15, 20 November 2016 (UTC)
Yeah it's strange. I moved the character past this quest but there's another another only 2-3 quests away from this one so I may try it again later this week. --DefinitelyNotHanz (talk) 10:40, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
Tried to recreate it, 3 attempts so far with no luck. Too bad i didn't record it when it frist happened, but I wasn't tripping D: Maybe I need more tries, WTB visible hero xp bar. At least I'm becoming an expert on the BiP way. --DefinitelyNotHanz (talk) 20:05, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

Another WoC quest that makes you wonder[edit]

Look I get it, hard mode is for a challenge and that's all fine but wow going through WoC and realizing how poorly Anet did with these. The BiP strategy doesn't seem to work or is buggy at best she moves sometimes and sometimes she does not. IF you can't move her this quest is literally impossible to complete as are a lot of WoC quests. Very disappointed in how this was handled. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 73.196.193.211 (talk) at 05:44, 28 September 2018‎ (UTC).

Agreed. I believe a lot of times that ANET tested the viability of these quests with only a few professions leading, or considering that there would be multiple players using EOTN pve only skillbars. Frustrating as some of us are not playing the right primary and/or are having trouble finding humans willing to join us in these quests.

ON that note, if they canceled the water effect, this would likely be doable. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.58.93.169 (talk) at 02:32, 29 December 2018 (UTC).
