Error code 044 when trying to log in

Yeah...I just came home and the same happened to me... --78.149.62.235 17:26, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
Same! What the hell? --174.57.149.196 17:51, 7 April 2012 (UTC)Recon Legend
Remember to check the official forums for news and existing reports. Today's system-wide #004 has been logged at this thread. (Why check there? Because that is the first place that ANet looks — so that should be the first place that we, the players, report issues. This page is one of the last places that ANet would look.)Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:04, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
After a while, maybe around 10-25 minutes. I am now able to log on and play on Guild Wars, although I'm unsure about the situation for other people... --78.149.62.235 19:20, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Yup, it's officially back on. --174.57.149.196 19:49, 7 April 2012 (UTC)Recon Legend

April 25th 2012,code 004[edit]

I had this code before, but now it's kinda different, i can log in and choose characer to play and then when it loads an area it loads "Connecting..." for a few minutes and then displays the code. Usually it wouldn't even let me choose a character... Anyone else getting this message? 95.180.84.110 15:32, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Yep, me. I've gotten this code for the last hour on my primary account. Secondary account seems unaffected though Gaudy Gourd God 15:36, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Acc discrimination! I got only 1 and i can't play :( Still can't log...95.180.84.110 16:49, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Reminder: report bugs on the official forums; ANet doesn't read this page (and not all that many wiki readers do either). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:50, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Error 042[edit]

Is anyone else expericing this today, i was online and playing after yesterdays updates perfectly well, now i cant log in, i also cant log into support forums so i cant even post there, either servers are completely down my pc is knackered or anet have given up on gw1 already ( joke for last one  :) ) Also i removed some of the links to ncsoft website as when they were clicked on the only thing that came up was this answer is no longer available.Spark-TBa 12:26, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Yep. The game, support forums, and even the GW2 wiki all seem to be inaccessible right now. Major crowd fail. Lysander 12:59, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Im not even getting gw2 yet cause i cant afford a new PC, and lucky is my last title to max, was planning on playing alot this weekend, im go QQ in a corner somewhere, lol Spark-TBa 13:27, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah both GW1 and 2 and GW2 wiki are down for quite a while now. I hope they fix this server problem more than soon soon. I'm slowly starting to get a bit bored not being able to play. Da Mystic Reaper 13:54, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

New official error codes page[edit]

Instead of separate pages in FAQ section, NCSOFT now explains all Guild Wars error codes here: https://guildwars.zendesk.com/entries/27991787-Guild-Wars-Error-Codes --46.138.249.182 18:09, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

pretty sure that isn't official. even anet wouldn't make such an ugly site... if anyone is explaining error codes there then its a third party. -Chieftain Alex 18:20, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
No, it should be official. You can trace these links: NCSOFT -> SUPPORT -> Guild Wars Player Support -> Technical Support -> Guild Wars Error Codes. --46.138.249.182 21:32, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
well done on finding that then. It seems like you're right. -Chieftain Alex 22:17, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
guildwars.com also has links to guildwars.zendesk.com too now: the Web support and Knowledge base links on http://guildwars.com/support/default.php. --Silver Edge 05:25, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Note that the above IP comments in this section wasn't posted by me. --Silver Edge 06:58, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Currently having trouble with the latest update[edit]

so, in game vqing, it says gonna log me off (because of updates) i choose to do it manually, rather than be forced. i interrupt the vq and do so. error code 244 and nothing is WRONG with MY internet... fix this bullshit anet,. i bought this game to play, not to be a victim in build wars beta testing screw tildes dont use themthey mean "approzimate" and x 4? evenstoopider --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.64.86.235 (talk) at 04:52, 7 June 2018‎ (UTC).

So it seems like this problem is because in the newest update they made a change so that when you log in from a new CPU you have to authenticate with a code sent to the email that's attached to your account, and for whatever reason it spits out that error code. If that email is unavailable you can submit a ticket to get it changed, or if you have GW2 I believe that text authenticating when you login to that will fix the issue too? I'm not totally sure on that. It's just an extra security measure that screwed things up more than intended, they are working to fix it - there's talk about it on the GW Reddit thread as well Eellis (talk) 03:46, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

regarding 241 =[edit]

maybe we can add a note about 241 for future reference now that we have consistant proof, as it just happened again. https://www.reddit.com/r/GuildWars/comments/8nmgdn/servers_down/dzxdgwh/ Shade the (talk) 00:16, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
