Go go go nerfing GvG even more. Lanky 21:10, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Haha, honestly, I don't even play anymore, I just check the wiki to see how much worse each update makes the game...sad but funny? ElementalistWindtalker 21:14, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Wow, this is bullshit... ~~ User:Frvwfr2 frvwfr2 (talk · contributions) 21:16, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
This is utterly crap, May as well run 8 warriors, and go full team gank Lanky 21:17, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

GvG is now HEAD ON. –Ichigo724 21:18, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Head On - Apply directly to the Guild Lord?
I am very sad, now GvG teams have to beat each other instead of having the npcs do it. - Elder Angelus 21:42, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

But that is what PvP should be, I know loads of people are complaining about the "nerf". Its still better than waiting around for about 5 mins waiting for someone to make the 1st blow while people are killing the npcs, there is less skill in that then the new system.Seri Windwaker

WELCOME TO THE GUILD WARS 2 ALPHA TEST, ENJOY YOUR STAY. --76.25.197.215 21:39, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Yep, alliance has all but stopped GvG for the most part. It's all running lameway and playing beat up instead of using your heads. Enough to GvG anet, do something about Rspike in HA. It's not hard to counter, it's just annoying as hell since 90% of teams run it. Also makes HA boring, like AB boring.

-sigh- Seriously, we get a nerf to Ursan and the rest of the game decides to slide down the toilet. Time machine please, go back and change the past. Or just return GvG to being fun.--Masato 22:00, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Out of all the things that needed to be changed/fixed, they just decided to take out the gates? That makes utterly no sense. They might as well take out the catapults now. While they are at it take the NPC's and the Guild Lord out too, then it will just be whoever gets to 60% DP wins. It was fine the way it was before, you had to defend your base while attacking theirs. Now its just gonna be just straight head into their base and just mash keys till everything dies, while they do the same to your base. I really hope they change this back.--The Cyphero 22:49, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
"im in ur base, killing ur d00dz!" Sorry, I had to. Luckily I don't GvG. :) Arshay Duskbrow 23:10, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

The are just probably making the game horrible so when GW2 comes out you'll be "forced" to upgrade. Srsly taking out the gates? Why do we need to frigging use guild halls now? Let's just have open fields like RA and GvG on those. --Hawk SkeerAssassin Symbol(Talk) 23:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

I have a strong feeling we'll still see defenseway. Give it another week, VoD might be reinstated or there might be a mass nerf. --Ezekial Riddle 00:06, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

I feel the same way. I don't do GvG yet, my guild is pretty small, but really, they're ruining the game just so that ppl will buy GW2. Which, buy the way, I feel will be too much like WoW. Guild Wars is a joke now, really. If they're just going to change the functionality of half the skills in the game every 3 weeks, why keep playing? *Sigh* At least RA is still ok-ish, although assassins aren't really assassins anymore... The problem is that too many people use them as tanks, and they just can't sustain that damage; they're supposed to get in, kill, get out. Guess what? All the good shadow steps have been nerfed. GG Anet. Really great job with everything. Because, you know, there wasn't a better solution than throwing darts to decide what skills to nerf next.

Whoops, forgot to sign. --71.70.205.150 00:20, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm more inclined to think they're experimenting to shake things up rather than engineering t decline in Guild Wars to force people to buy Guild Wars 2, because it will have the reverse effect. Guild Wars 2 is too far away to go down that kind of road. That or they're just bananas and really doing really stuffed up stuff. 000.00.00.00 00:29, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, but this is the wrong way to experiment, keeping the doors open is just dumb tbh. No more splits is meh.--24.225.87.87 02:09, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
What they did makes sense, I've gone up against way too many group that play pure defense until VoD, then going all out against just the Guild Lord. This ruined much of GvG for me since it was a massive waste of time to wait for VoD to come up, only for our Guild Leader to be spiked. While this is a large change, people will become comfortable with it soon enough

Signing, not my strong point 64.53.184.116 04:13, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Have to agree here, the VoD defense teams were a bit boring and true time wastages to watch and the builds were way too common as well, but removing the gates...well now that's a bit silly really. Hopefully it is as 000 thinks and just some experimentation. --Shaia 07:55, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

VoD was never a great mechanic, but it was decent enough to prevent games from becoming too much 8vs8.
Now, who wants to roll caster spike? Seriously, they ahad better find a decent way to bring splits back or I'm outta here. -- NUKLEAR User NuclearVII signature 3.jpgIIV 10:57, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
VoD wasn't originally in the game. Originally, you played til a guild lord died--or the other team quit! Many matches would go to 40-50 minutes or even longer. I remember my guild's first GvG ("hey, what happens if we push this button?") went for about an hour. You know how RA can get players who can't die yet can't do any damage so your team just gives up? GvG was a bit like that kind of experience. VoD was introduced to force closure, and to expose the Guild Lord.
I've played a fair amount of GvG since the change. A lot of people in my guild thought we'd see HA-type 8v8 battles, but in fact we've been splitting all over the place, depending on if we've run a version of lameway or a more balanced team able to split off 3. Now, we're not GvGing at anything near the top ranks, but at least at our rating, we're seeing splits, even with the current lameway of 3 thumpers, flagger, 4 monks divided between heal and smite.
Oh, and for what it's worth, I remember when splits were considered degenerate builds because they couldn't go 8v8 at the flag stand. How soon we forget!
At any rate, I think this is a very interesting change, as it brings GvG back to the basics of deciding between going for the flag or going for the other team's Guild Lord, and then trying to prevent the other team from achieving its goals while your team achieves your goals. I'm sure it's going to be temporary, but right now it strips GvG back to the basics. The question will be whether going back to those basics produces a more assertive gameplay by opening up more strategic and tactical options, or whether the top guilds will build even more defense-oriented play. It's a very bold move. Kudos Izzy and Morello and team!ceolstan 01:08, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

hum.. open the gates, but make the guild lord invincible for the first 10 min???:p71.61.80.119 05:22, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Glimmering Mark[edit]

Congratulations Izzy. You just killed this skill. Hope Mirrior of Ice isn't next.Done25 00:34, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

I doubt that would happen, anet know for sure it also deals armorignoring dmg but that the skill is too weak anyway that removing it would kill it off and they'd have to change its functionality again. --AnorithUser Anorith Grenths Grasp.jpgTalk 00:59, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Correcting the "description" on this skill to end on any skill was bad enough. If you're going to nerf the damage then change it back to spells like the description originally said... It's one or the other or this skill becomes basically useless... --24.225.87.87 02:17, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Ahh, its still a good Skill when you don't want to directly engage someone. Like, putting this on a monk to keep them busy, and then attacking an ele while the monk's healing themselves. plus, if you re cast it on people, its a never ending condition.

That was a bad post and you should feel bad for posting it. --76.25.197.215 03:54, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
He's got a point. I use this to keep other enemies occupied while engaging another person. It does wonderful pressure damage. --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 04:21, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. Unfortunately, the pressure was much better before the nerf, but we'll live. I think. Diva 13:11, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
lol putting this on a monk and it's removed after 3 seconds --AnorithUser Anorith Grenths Grasp.jpgTalk 16:39, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, why would a monk, the class most likely to have access to hex removal on it's skill bar last the whole duration of Glimmering mark? It's best cast on characters without hex removal but those are the ones taking only 10-13 damage from it.(Marsc 09:54, 16 August 2008 (UTC))

WTB Floor Mat 10k[edit]

The Guild Lord should be updated to offer floor mats in a variety of cute sayings and styles so that everyone can get a proper welcome when they're visiting other Guild Halls. User Woop sig.pngWoop ‧ talk ‧ 00:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't play gw anymore, I chek once a while wiki to see whats going on and i can say not much, from weekly updates they have passed to monthly minor updates like this one. Zomby 12:52, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Well Ursan got a well-needed nerf a week ago. And lol at the original comment =P-Warior Kronos User Warior Kronos Sig.jpg 15:21, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

GvG Change... hold on...[edit]

Ok... so the new GvG change is now that the doors will be open, 24/7... and no VoD... ok, and you all say "Gank City" well... this will cause a team to work even harder on communication and splitting... becuase now you can't just bunch together, you will be all over the map with ganking, counter ganking, defending, running... all sorts of things... so instead of playing 8v8 as one big group... you will have to fight 3-3-1-1 v 3-4-1... this will be interesting to see who can out dual who and which team has better tactics... this will now be a tactical game and no longer a grind kill 7v7 to VoD and let the NPC's win... this puts more pressure on the players to do the work, and not the pretend team mates (NPC's). So I would say this is a good change, and those of you who are against either 1.) Dont like change or 2.) are LaZy and dont like to work harder... I think this will build more tactics and communication... and not just your 7v7 grind to VoD... SabreWolf 17:28, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Vod Teams[edit]

Were sorta lame. Everyone knows that. However, totally changing GvG mechanics this fast that have been there since the beginning of the game......is probably not a good idea IMO. I honestly don't know whether this will result in Gank City or like the above poster said..in a more tactical GvG game. However I do know that changing things really fast always results in unintended consequences and Anet is going to be dealing with gimmicks exploiting the new game mechanics for months after now. Psychiatric Consultant Shadowsong.jpg 17:46, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

What I am looking for... is if teams will say, "screw the flag... lets just put 6 in the box and drive to the Guild Lord with 4 big damage and 2 Monks... and leave 2 back in base for defense." it also makes it intersting for those maps that have a cat... so the front door would have to be defeneded some what, or just left alone... But maps like Burning Isle is still gonna have to fought the regular way it was... its just map like Solitude (i think) are gonna be questionable... because a back side gank of 6 will end the map in about 2 minutes if not checked... SabreWolf 18:55, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, Solitude is the one with a back door path so big it's out of compass range. That made things interesting, but this whole gates opened business is just kinda dumb. I would like my doors back in working order please. Yes, that would mean keeping ganks out. --TalkPeople of Antioch 04:18, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Gates open??[edit]

Well im no GvGer but to me this even sounds abit odd. Surely this will just mean that people will just mob the other teams base at the same time? I personly thought that the nerf on VoD was good as it seemed that people exploited this to gain easy wins but without gates just makes it boring--Azreal of SkyrimUser Azreal of skyrim signature.jpg 10:14, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Not to be smart... but if your Guild Hall was beening invaded... would you keep your door open? I mean, its like "Here, invade me... forget the key" I mean seriously... I saw a team last night rush the Cat, kill everything inside, while a MM comes through the back door and kills everything inside from the back way. (It happend last night to a rank 72 team... they got beat by a 2,300 such team by this tactic...)SabreWolf 17:36, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah thats exactly what i mean it just makes GvG into a contest of "who has the stronger builds" insted of having a contest of "which team has good comunication and tactics as a team insted of just mobing like in AB" like it should be--Azreal of SkyrimUser Azreal of skyrim signature.jpg 14:09, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Barrage still have a problem?[edit]

I noticed the bug fix for barrage, but it seems it is still not firing as before. Things start out good until a hex like "spirit shackles" or some other attack-speed/recharge-speed possibly too. Sure things get quite slow, but even after the hex expires or is removed Barrage still fires at the same slow pace as if still hexed. Prof alf 17:34, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Flag = Doors[edit]

Can I make a suggestion? If there was a way, to hold a point or somthing to claim the door lock so then you can open it... then I am for it... like the team that holds the flag stand, opens the other team's door instead of a moral boost... THAT I think everyone would not mind... it puts more pressure not to die, but still puts some lock on the doors, and puts more pressure on the flagger... that I think would be balenced instead of having the doors open or a guild thief... By retaking the flag... the postion will switch that the other team's door would open and your doors would close... the only issue however... is the ability to get out of the other teams hall... or it will be just one of those trap them and kill them out... but maybe that will just have to be the way it is, so that the cappers will have to keep up with everything. I would like to see that SabreWolf 17:36, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Or they could just re-add locks. They required more tactics when they existed, which is pretty much always a good thing. I can't actually see any really good reason to take them out :\ 69.40.251.148 17:39, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

The Reason Why PekPek -> KepKep[edit]

Lol! That took a while. Probably someone eventually posted a formal complaint.

I'm filipino, and really, 'PekPek' means, to put it more family friendly; the female part? in our language of tagalog, just as poonani is in Jamaican =) Probably some 8 year old filipino kid's mother complain. O.o?

Don't believe me? Google Image Search it with safesearch off? ^_^

no-VoD system ...[edit]

This no-VoD system is just a lol, I mean, NPC's are completely useless, killing them is just useful for clearing your path towards the guild lord and there's no way to know who's dealt more damage to the guild lord. I think you should add a few changes URGENTLY, like, i.e. adding a tab on the State Window which registers the damage dealt to the guild lord by each team, and NPC's should count as damage dealt to the guild lord. (Shauri 23:14, 24 August 2008 (UTC))
