Why does this exist?

Research[edit]

Is this for PvP/GvG only? Why do the updates not mention it? --ScorpDeception63 23:39, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

PvP-only. Wait for the developer notes for a better explanation.--TahiriVeila 23:39, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
It's part of the Flux. Mora 23:46, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

NPCs[edit]

Does this affect NPCs? -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 13:52, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

I can't try right now. but all you should have to do is go into the PvE version of the isle of the nameless with a fixed damage skill like flare, attack and NPC that is alone while being alone several times to make sure you always deal the same damage, and then go back into the PvP version and do the same. If it affects NPCs, it should work in there too, I assume. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 13:55, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
I tried this, the NPCs do not seem to have the effect applied to themselves. The effect still applies to you though vs NPCs. FoxBat 19:07, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Dead allies[edit]

Do they count? User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 15:08, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Shouldn't, but I'm never too sure when it comes to this game. –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 22:39, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Was playing mesmer in codex arena, dead allies don't count. I always did +10% damage to the last member of the opposing team, even when the other 3 people were dead in a ball near them. 98.24.14.45 16:52, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

ohai[edit]

pet? HMMMMM LOOPHOLE --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.92.131.176 (talk).

Not really a loophole, just a way to avoid the effect (one that has its own costs). -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 02:47, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Then your pet dies and not only are you suddenly taking more damage your skill bar is disabled! HURRAY! ♥ Tyloric ♣ 19:23, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Leadership[edit]

"Paragon builds emphasizing Leadership cannot easily benefit from this skill. "

Above line is written under notes. What exactly does that mean, and exactly what is the difficult way of making leadership synergize with this? - Decollete 15:21, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Leadership nets you energy for each ally affected by your shouts, so you need to be with your team to benefit. That means no Lone Wolfing. -- Hong 15:25, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

"two players from opposing sides ..."[edit]

"If two players from opposing sides are both alone, each one will receive and deal +20% damage when attacking each other."

I think the general idea may be correct in ths statement but the math is wrong. Perhaps I am nitpicking but it is not a stacking effect but a multiplicative effect. Both players deal +10% damage and take +10% damage. Player A's +10% damage has an additional 10% damage added to player B's receipt of that damage. So a base 100 damage would have 10% added for player A (making the damage) = 110 and then that value has 10% added due to player B taking 10% more damage. 110 + 10% = 121 total damage. So if two players from opposing sides are both alone, each one would receive and deal +21% damage. Someone please verify. --Doodle01 16:06, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
