This can also be capped in EotN, during Blood washes blood or something like that. Don't remember further details though.... Clement 15:56, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah but if I'm not mistaken, you still need NF in order to be able to use the skill. ~LarsG_Man
The correct quest to capture it is Warband of Brothers (Charr Homelands, second main quest)
It's also available from a charr boss during blood washes blood, but you can only capture it if you own nightfall. 76.25.21.240 02:40, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Headshot[edit]

Dos this and all 'Mind xxx' skills hit always the head part? Has anyone tested that? MithranArkanere 14:33, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Where can i find this skill

Skill Balance - 6th March[edit]

Still viable? 78.145.162.238 20:46, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Mind blast was mostly used to fuel rodgorts invocation...take a look at that nerf...--Ryudo 20:47, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
You're still getting 8 energy at 14. --66.91.227.50 21:40, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Wrong, your getting 3 energy, or 5 w/ attun. The recharge got increased by 1 second too.--Ryudo 21:43, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Did you read something completely different from what was written? Before, you got 8 energy at 14, and you're still getting 8 energy at 14 now. All the lowered energy return does is remove any incentive to run higher than 14 fire, which was pretty common before anyway. --66.91.227.50 02:24, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
And even pre-nerf, the DPS of Elementalists was less than that of the uber melee people, while still costing more energy as well. This skill balanced that...not anymore, too bad for Fire Eles (not me fortunately). Nicky Silverstar 23:41, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
That minor nerf ruined MY WHOLE BUILD my whole build which was great before the nerf is now nothing :( stupid nerfs :( 69.212.18.92 00:32, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
If you had only one build, then the problem is not the nerf, it's you. I've NEVER been bothered by nerfs. Why? Because I set my builds based on were I'm going and who I'm going with, and I change them a lot. Stick to one build and you are done. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 12:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
The skill is still viable, and when he said you were getting 3-5 energy back, he meant 3-5 energy gain (the return - the cost = net return) 5 energy every 4 seconds (3+1 cast) is still fairly powerful, but it no longer allows unlimited spamming of 25 and 15 energy skills. --Angelic Loki 15:47, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
3 seconds isn't so bad when you consider that if you cast any spell with at least 1 second casting time (which is pretty much all of fire magic) inbetween uses of mind blast, it'll be recharged by the time all that aftercast has finished (you might have to wait 1/2 a second, ohnoes). --Ckal Ktak 15:41, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Mind Prefix[edit]

Shouldn`t be there a special page or something in the description about the mind-prefix skills?

Nah. It's just a naming convention. Like 'Wild' for unblockable attacks that remove stances, 'Mantra' for Mesmer stances, etc... MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 21:10, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Energy Buffs[edit]

Well now this got buffed, 1sec less recharge, kinda nice thou :/ - Also the other Enj skills are buffed idk still about MB - suppose still decent..82.196.197.234 11:51, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

It's... yeah. Decent. If you have an inclination to run fire damage (because the enemy will be balled up), savannah heat is leagues better in the long run. I think they wanted mind blast to be good on the split, but tbh, glowing gaze with attune covers energy well enough (in fact, I think glowing gaze gives back *more* energy). -Auron 11:53, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
I believe it does. And personally I prefer running a Searing Flames build (Ele is my primary, and I use almost exclusively fire), I find it to be better, because AoE spells like Savannah Heat usually cause scatter, and they have slow recharge times, making it easy to waste them, while SF is spammable, causes burning. But that's just me.--99.241.76.164 23:47, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
This skill is still good at doing the only thing is was used for before it's previous nerf: Rodgort spamming. To me, using Mind Blast, Arcane Echo, Rodgort's, Glyph of elemental power, Ether lord, Ebon standard of wisdon, ect is the only real way a PvE nuking build can come close to a cryer's damage output. 76.188.222.7 17:56, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Oh yeah, totaly balanced[edit]

This skill ruins Gvg meta. Nerf it quick --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 123.108.69.38 (talk).

GvG? This is stupid in any arena. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 21:17, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
PROBLEM: fire magic is the highest dps attribute in the game (pvp), and with this skill it is also the most spammable. Not balanced at all. Buffing aura of restoration made the problem worse, but the main problem in so many noob ele builds that spam 2 buttons to do 100dps at no energy cost..is mind blast. plz nerf it already, its in so many overpowered builds. --Celtus 13:07, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Flare does more damage than this, silly. -Valdrone 20:23, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
But flare doesn't give you energy. The thing is that this skill works greath with other low-energy skills and other energy management skills, and even better against low-energy professions such as warriors and ranger. But it alone is not a big deal, and low-energy professions have higher armor. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 21:17, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
It hurts less than flare and has a rechage time but gives energy, which is to be expected of an elite. It is overall not that much better than flare, slap on fire attunement and aura of restoration and use flare, it would be more effective than this. Therefore it is not overpowered.--splatterpuss 21:25, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Try that again, but without lemming logic. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 21:26, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Shard if you could keep your comments relevant/useful it would be appreciated--splatterpuss 21:28, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
And if your comments made sense, people wouldn't criticize them. Your defense for Mind Blast not being overpowered is that is does less damage than Flare. People don't bring MB for the damage. They bring it for the infinite energy. Without any other skills, if used on recharge, this nets you 3 energy every 3 seconds, which comes out to +3 energy regen. Throw in attunement and AoR and it goes up to +6 energy regen. No skill should give you something for nothing. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 22:11, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Elementalists are supposed to have lots of energy, and players should acct accordingly with things like energy denial and energy punishment mesmers are so good at... And yea, no skill give something for nothing. But in the case of this skill and Lyssa's Aura, what you give up is the elite slot. That's something. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 22:15, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
You're assuming all elite skills are better than all nonelite skills. Giving up an elite skill means almost nothing to an elementalist. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 22:23, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
With fire attunement, aura of restoration, and 14 fire magic you net 6 energy as often as every 3 seconds. That's up to 6 pips worth of energy regen. Yes, the downside is you have to use up a considerable amount of time casting it to get the most out of it. No, that doesn't excuse an easy mode "give me as much energy as I friggen want just by how fast I hit this button" skill like this. And don't even pretend a half decent ele won't be able to almost always find a foe with less energy than them when using this skill. Necromas 14:59, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Nope, I'm assuming that bringing one elite prevents any character from bringing another. And there many other elementalist elites better than Mind Blast depending on situation. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 15:03, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Every hammer warrior kills faster than the mind blast spam oriented builds. Meaning a decent hammer warrior compared to a decent elementalist. Mind blast is balanced as it is; Not too much damage, 2 second recharge and net +3 energy gain at rank 16 fire magic. So nothing needs to be nerfed. If you think this is owerpowered, then ANet should nerf all the fire magic line. So don't be mad at this skill if it killed you a few times in RA, many other builds do the same thing.. and they aren't a target of the "OMFG NERF IT IT DOES DAMAGE!!!!" critics.

^General Herp A Derp "it needs to be nerfed for its damage" comment.--66.192.104.13 03:25, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
"and they aren't a target of the "OMFG NERF IT IT DOES DAMAGE!!!!" critics."
Hi, you missed the point, please try again.--User Ezekial Riddle bigsig.pngRiddle 05:28, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
"ANet should nerf all the fire magic line."
Definitely your best suggestion. Once again, people aren't realizing what Mind Blast is for. Energy. There's a reason why I said this was better than Searing Flames when they came out. (Hint: it's not for damage.) -~=Sparky User Sparky, the Tainted charr sig.PNG (talk) 07:03, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Oi! If other fire magic skills and AoR werent as overpowered would you use this? I doubt. :> Mind blast on it's own isn't all that powerful methinks. :O Nectarines // 16:52 26 September 2009(UTC)
On other hand, as long as fire magic is remotely useful people would abuse this. Killing the rest of the skill line just for the sake of getting one overpowered elite out of play is not the right way to go either so ignore what I said above! :O Nectarines // 17:01 26 September 2009(UTC)

Capture - My Stuff[edit]

Can you capture this skill during - Goren's_Stuff:_Part_2 --TigerWolf User TigerWolf Sig.jpg 16:31, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

No, it turns into a friendly NPC. It doesn't die, so you can't use SoC.--User Oneshot O.JPGneshot 16:33, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Need help with Notes[edit]

Can't seem find an appropriate redirect for high-energy set and the redirect on the Mind Shock page only regards hiding energy while the other two Mind skills should also have notes consistency. What do you guys think? Ox rider 10:51, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Kareh Ossa[edit]

Can this be captured from Kareh Ossa during Strange Bedfellows?207.216.235.240 09:15, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

You can only capture skills from a boss (usually has a glowing aura of one of the class colors). Since the pic doesn't show one, my guess is gonna be no. Guildwarsrunner 10:25, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

190 damage?[edit]

I was in EoTN the other day and this guy [1] used this elite to give 190 damage to my Rit wearing max armor. Is this normal? Even with 21 Fire Damage x2 cause he's a boss.. still not that close to 190 damage.

All creatures are capped to 20 in attributes. 20 fire magic makes 75. And then comes the extra damage from level difference. The double damage comes after that. So if he's dealing 190, that means that he's dealing 95. +20 damage for 8 or 10 levels over yours is not so much, even if you had +15AR insignia.
