"Power" skills[edit]
according to all those related skills you can see, Power [Name] skills are Mesmer skills that interrupt and do something with the energy of you or your foe. —ZerphaThe Improver 15:02, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

- Those two are called "Power X" because they're powerful attacks (they simply do more damage) so they do follow a pattern, just a different one. The other Power skills still interrupt and though they don't do something with your energy they fit the theme (Power Spike turns the energy they're casting into a surge of power which deals damage, Power Block blocks their power to cast spells, something like that). 86.26.90.196 21:45, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

energy gain for interrupted skills?[edit]
does the spell need to be finished for you to gain the energy, or can you interrupt it?
- No, the spell has to be finished in order to be considered "Casted". Interrupting them will not get you any energy. FleshAndFaith 22:23, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

- Yeah. Best use in combination with a Mark of Insecurity-Assa, which means instant Death even for a 2 monk backline. GL with monking in a few weeks. Too bad PnH is Divine, nobody will be able to help. Actually, I think I like this one. A lot. As a mesmer, I usually use non-elites to do stuff. This helps me do that by energy management and puts significant e-denial/shutdown on a target. Good job with the update, Anet! 98.226.112.109 17:18, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- That's the problem with the skill, it is too strong to be balanced. Thus it may please you personally, but still it is a big problem for GW in general. BTW, you won't get any emanagement by this because nobody will be dumb enough to cast thru this. Edenial is so overpowered on this one it is just a 10 second elite version of Diversion. Another reason why the whole concept of the skill is a failure. Would have been better to lower the energy loss to reasonable levels (5e) to actually let someone cast. --82.82.176.65 08:47, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, but people do still try to cast through it more often then not, from my experience with it so far.
- Don't look at the skill as e-management, because yes, a good player generally won't cast through it. Think of it as a Diversion that interrupts a spell when you cast it; people won't waste a spell, they'll wait it out. - Sure... they do for 2 reasons. First reason is the skill is "new" and people need some time to learn what it does now. But this will change fast. Second reason is some people are bad ^^. his will never change, but do you think we should judge over skill balances with regard to bad players? :-) However, I think chosing to actually make it a balanced skill would have given the Mez more than just an elite fire-and-forget Diversion for 10 seconds. - Another way to look at it is with a modest investment in Inspiration line, you get decent energy drain. You keep cast it on say an ele, and since its only taking 5-6 nrg from them at low levels you get 10 secs of using them as a battery cause they aren't likely to notice it as much....Loki207.71.50.165 17:56, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

- I like this skill, bring rend or a powerful hex such as diversion and make them drop their veil. When they re-apply their veil you interrupt with this and they're pretty much screwed. Veil should be an easy interrupt as it doesn't gain any advantage from 40/40 sets. SniperFox 11:59, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion[edit]
At the moment this doesn't rivalise with p-drain, as p-drain is non-elite, gives more energy and gives it INSTANTLY. Right now if you try to use this skill in 8v8, one monk gets hexed, calls monk 2 to remove the hex >> GG you just wasted an elite slot & 5energy whereas with p-drain you would have gained about 21energy.
In order for this to be called an "Elite Power-Drain" it should steal energy ON SUCCESSFUL interrupt and apply the hex for further energy-draining. That way you get energy (which is the point of p-drain) but instead of gaining it out of nowhere you stole it from the target. It could even have a nicer mechanic, something like: Interrupt target foe's spell. If successful interrupt, steal 5...15energy from target foe & this skill recharges instantly." 212.198.134.54 02:44, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

- Agreed, this is a really easy skill to use. Just cover it; you've got fast casting FFS. If you can't afford to be Me/N for parasitic bond, then use Mind Wrack. It's basically the same, just has a bit longer recharge. --Jette 10:57, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah well, as a PvE Mesmer I look at this skill and it seems so awesome but I guess that's pretty much a Monk-only thing. Unless you're going HEAVILY on Inspiration (and I find that most times it's a secondary e-management attribute with low-ish scores) having to actually let the caster do his spells can be too dangerous (surprise surprise Searing Flames boss mode!).
