Some options[edit]

A+++ would view again. - BeX iawtc 00:15, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

C- Profession section is way too bulky. Suffers from NIHism. --Valshia 16:45, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
I think it's too big and too colorful. The profession tables take up a whole page, I need to scroll for campaigns = not quick access. I've made a suggestion based on Wynthysts tables in my sandbox. - anja talk 17:40, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Agree with Anja's comments regarding usability. For something entitled "Quick access", usability trumps looks in my book. This isn't Pretty access links. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 17:42, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Of the three options I would vote for this one over either the compact or the detailed. Also, I've been linking in the collectors pages as I've been completing them (to all 3). This one maintains a 'style' with the new tango icons, and the colors that have been chosen for GWW, while not being overly bulky. There still needs to be at least one more item included, crafted weapons by profession... and gee.. just so happens that is the next thing on my wiki to do list :D I would like to see a quick access links page added to the main navigation bar for truly quick access to information by the community. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 13:08, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Great concept, I had meant to port the version from GW over (earlier versions were mainly my contributions and those of others who have released their work to be available to this site's license), but I like the idea of this site having it's own unique look. Still, the current version has a LOT of wasted white space on the left and right sides of the screen. With just a little effort and the use of abbreviations, I think the whole thing could be compacted better with professions in one column, and campaign links in a second column. I would also highly support adding a link to this from the navigation box on the left. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 02:15, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Did you check the Quick access links/compact Barek, and does it look more like you suggested? I'm all for condensing it a bit, I agree there is still alot of whitespace. - anja talk 11:17, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Still a lot of whitespace, but much better. I fully support switching to the compact version, and linking it from the side nav box. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 15:42, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Well, I started all this way back when when I tried to duplicate the one from GW, and was almost immediately shut down for copyright vio... Then with a bit of help from Anja came up with User:Wynthyst/Quick access links that I have been working to fill in all the blanks (only 6 pages to go), but Poke came up with these pages, and I do think they are styled more in a way that fits GWW though I do agree that they aren't AS friendly and don't contain all the information I'd like to see, they are much better than nothing at all. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 17:16, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
I wish I had known you were shot down for copyvio, I would've defended you. All of my and PanSola's work are released to the GFDL - and there are very useable versions in the history of GW's links that were only edited by the two of us - but that's off topic.
I still prefer the compact version, as it lets everything fit without scrolling, and in a way that's very useable and fits the style of GWW. What objections, if any, exist on converting this page to using the compacted version? --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 17:40, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
My only real issue with the compact version is the amount of reduced fonts that all line up and contain the exact same text. Makes it very easy to click on the wrong one imo. This version at least staggers them making misclicks less likely. But I don't feel strongly enough about it to object to the use of the compact version, I would just really like to see a Quick Access link in the main nav.--Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 18:15, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
My main preference for the compact is less wasted whitespace and it eliminates the need for scrolling. But, there are other ways to accomplish that goal. What about keeping the current boxes, but modifying the layout to something like User:Barek/sandbox? It needs some code clean-up yet, but conveys the basic concept; no scrolling, and without the main objection you had about the compact version. Could something like this work for everyone? --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 20:19, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Well, I'm not a good one to ask about this because I view this at a very strange size. The current version of this page does not require me to scroll at all, while yours requires me to scroll sideways. Which is even more inconvenient than scrolling down. Like I said, my objections to the compact version are not strong enough to eliminate my support for it being used as the link on the nav bar. I just want to see a quick access page linked on the nav bar for the benefit of the community in general.--Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 00:32, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
What resolution are you running? At 1280x1024, this current page has a short horizontal scroll. Barek's version has no scroll. I think it's best that we try something for 1024x768, or if not possible, go for 1280x1024. It should be more common. -- sig 02:30, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I view at 1280x768 but not full screened as I multi task alot... that's why I said I'm not a good person to ask. The current page fits perfectly into my view area. Like I've stated before, I have only small objections to the compact version, and even fewer to this version. My big concern was getting this linked on the nav bar for the entire community's benefit. My personal preferences are not an issue of importance. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 02:45, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok. I'm concerned with size because it'd be better if we can compact it further, as I'd like to see some PvP-related topics getting added to the page too, otherwise it feels like we're ignoring that part of the game. -- sig 02:54, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
I understand. Unfortunately, I am as pure a pve player as you are going to find, so anything related to pvp is beyond my realm of expertise. I just know by the number of hits some of the linked pages are getting without a main nav link, this IS already information the Community is looking for.--Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 03:00, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I've given another attempt at compacting the page at User:Barek/sandbox (revised over the prior version linked earlier, above) - this time basically just adding a third profession column, and merging two of the boxes in the campaign section. But that little bit of change seems to greatly improve the practical use of the page to me (no more scroll bar, while keeping the feel and basic structure of the current page). --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:44, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Looks good at my screen resolution. --Xeeron 11:05, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
It forces you to scroll left/right on 1024x768. I think we should try to avoid that. Is there any chance we could rework Quick access links/compact instead? - anja talk 11:19, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Useful lists[edit]

Under campaigns, I would love to see one line with links to some useful lists covering all campaigns I use all the time. Specifically I'd be interested to see Explorable areas and Elite skill capture locations, likely there are other similar lists I'm not familiar with. I suppose the lists could go under the "Core" heading or maybe a new "Common" heading. If there is consensus, additions should go to the compact and detailed versions as well. -- Totte 14:20, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Addendum - the pages I ask for above are ranked as 60 and 29, respectively, on Special:Popularpages. -- Totte 14:52, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Missing crafter links[edit]

Which are pretty helpful (I use them more than Unique items). Should we add it in? -Auron 10:22, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, definitely. The question is just how. - anja talk 10:30, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm working on it..............--Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 11:47, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

page protection[edit]

in regard of the history, maybe somekind of protection would be usefull ?--lussh 07:39, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

temporary protected. :) poke | talk 17:47, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Recent Game Updates[edit]

Would it be possible to add in a line linking to recent updates somewhere? I like using the compact version of this, but am still forced to hit the main page to find any news of recent changes. Noelahg 23:00, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Done. -- Gordon Ecker 02:50, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Also added to the compact version. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 03:02, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Label the icons?[edit]

I really like the quick links but have a hard time remembering which icon is associated with which profession. Can we label the icons like this? Opinions? Luke1138 20:25, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Ugh....The already have alt tags.. just hover your mouse. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 20:33, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Get used to the color of the profession and you'll start remembering them easier. If anything, I'd prefer the abbreviated "Mo", "N", etc. rather than the full name - it's too long. -- User Sig.png 14:19, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
If you play Guild Wars and can't recognize the profession icons... Vili User talk:Vili 02:02, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

ok i was on gw and it got hijakt

New Quick Link?[edit]

Should we add a quick link to the Zaishen Quests? Or maybe to the front page? Freedom Bound 19:35, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

They should be included in the List of Core quests. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 20:35, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
I disagree, many of the quests require specific campaigns. I think they should have their own list, perhaps List of Zaishen Challenge Quests. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 23:31, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
I think I agree with Gordon, but there's already a page (Zaishen Challenge Quest, it just takes two clicks (Quests->Zaishen Challenge Quest) from the main page. I was just wondering if we could put the link in the "Other" category on the Quick Links. Freedom Bound 11:59, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Since it's the latest thing, why not include it in all those places plus the main page? -- User Sig.png 14:25, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

link to dungeons[edit]

can't add it myself, since the page is protected, so pointing it out here.

i believe there should be a link to Dungeons between missions and quests, at the eotn section. pretty big part of the game, not included in the quick links though. Drk 09:36, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Added. It was also only "semi-protected". As a registered user, you can edit those pages. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 11:58, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

I've added Codex Arena to the PvP types... but should we remove TA and HB? Or leave them there for reference? Firoas. talk 12:25, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

I vote to remove them. The links on this page should be currently relevant. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 12:33, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Voting? :P But yeah, might as well remove them, I don't think any other historical content is linked there. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 12:34, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
LOL figure of speech Freedom, that's all. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 12:49, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
i've deleted ta/hb links and added historical content link, as well as heroes and henchmen buttons (not sure if it's the best place for h/h links though, feel free to relocate them if you think somewhere else is better) Drk 10:29, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Do we really need a link to historical content? I don't see that as something people naturally look for that much. I'm also not sure the H/H links need to be added. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 11:41, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
=O yes! it's one of the most interesting and mysterious parts of GW. 11:42, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
I agree that we should have some form of historical content link. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 08:01, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Henchmen quick ref[edit]

Should we add Template:Henchmen_nav/Quickref, It is a quite usefull for henchmen selection while forming a party. Elephant 14:10, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

There's already a link to the article, the nav isn't needed, IMO. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 14:12, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

can someone add Costumes under neath Common Zachariah Zuan. 22:23, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Better? -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 22:27, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Should we consider adding a small section to include books? I find I reference regularly along with other quick links. --Kniblet Beast 02:21, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

How would I make a similar table to the profession one? I really want to make one on my page but I have absolutely no idea how to make one..Can someone help me? :) --Scarred 13:40, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Go to Quick access links, click on the view source tab, and copy the wikicode for the table. It's a complex table, so if that's daunting, consider using something from Category:Character_templates for your character. You can also get help from members of the the GWW helper program. 15:42, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
