Talk:Shield of Absorption
recast[edit]
if you recast this before time runs out - does the damage redux stay?
like you get hit 6 times (30 dmg redux i believe) and then recast...back 5dmg or 35? 75.5.65.11 10:21, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
it get's back to 5. lussh 10:31, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- Wow, you sure the absorption increases by 5 every hit? I thought it was just reduced damage by 5 from everything...I might have the monk actually bring it on the next mission. Elder Angelus 19:25, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Tohn trains this skill in Kamadan fyi
- No he dosn't. The reason he trains it on Kamadan for you is because you unlocked it by buying it once before you your account. This means all skill trainers in Nightfall will now teach that skill to any of your characters. If you unlock skills with balthazar faction, this is a great way to get high end skills fast on your PvE characters. - Actually Justing6, that is false, Tohn does train it, weather it is unlocked on your account or not does not make a difference! 94.3.83.193 22:52, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Not true. This is a screenshot of Tohn's skills for a brand new monk with no extra skills unlocked on the account. Shield of Absorption is NOT offered by Tohn unless previously unlocked on the account. I couldn't figure out how to link, so it's embedded instead. My Profession Gender 02:33, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Epicness[edit]
My favorite skill hands down --Tyri Sunbeam 03:34, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's awesome on a PvP bonder, too. Especially in competative missions and alliance battles. The large amounts of 0 damage from the bonds rapidly jacks up the damage prevention to render you nearly invincible for a few seconds :D
- I love it because it auto-counters Mursaats' Spectral Agony in PvE :D 86.18.240.186 20:23, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Just had an idea[edit]
So, your tanking with this in pve, You have it set at 12, you're using an enchant mod and have BU up, is this maintainable or no? --BriarThe Spider 05:23, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- You mean Blessed Aura, I assume. And a maintained SoA is currently one of the most common 55 HP builds, so yes. It is absolutely maintainable. However, I believe you need 13 Prot Prayers and at least 12 or so Divine Favor, so if you're thinking of trying it with a secondary monk, then no, it won't work. Of course, you could try it with Extend Enchantments... --76.166.187.131 18:26, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- No actually I meant BU. Had an idea for an A/Mo tank. But I tested it out myself and no, it doesn't work. lol.--BriarThe Spider 03:25, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Wear a shadow arts mask, and no armor over the rest. (Maybe gloves, maybe shoes) for Spirit Bond to trigger. Minimum sin AR won't trigger SB for the most part, even in HM. Optional can be for damage, or whatever. It works quite well. (Need an essence for Shadow Form, obv.) Ryuu - Matters. ≡ 03:37, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
acquisition[edit]
Someone should add this skill can be obtained from Medando in Yohlon Haven. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kevin32 (talk • contribs) at 01:19, May 25 2016 (UTC).
- If it is, it's impossible to test. You can't get to Yohlon Haven without unlocking Tahlkora, and unlocking her unlocks this skill for the account (right?), making it available at all Nightfall skill trainers. If he's offering it and it doesn't have (Unlocked) after it, then take a screenshot. Also, remember to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~) on talk pages. Blue Totoro 03:15, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- BT is correct. In order to get to YH you have to do Consulate Docks. At that time you'll have Tahlkora (and Koss and Melonni and Dunkoro) unlocked. And Tahlkora will unlock SoA for your account. Resulting in every Nightfall trainer offering that skill, even the ones who didn't before Tahlkora joined you (e. g. on Starter Island).
- Btw, Kevin, you can add skills to trainers yourself, you know that? You don't have to ask others to do that or get permission or anything. In this case it woul've been reverted, is all. Steve1 (talk) 05:55, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
@Tohn being listed: I'm pretty sure that's considered self-explanatory, since any unlocked skill can be bought anywhere. Tahlkora is unlocked so early and so easily that 99% of people will only check Tohn after seeing SoA on Tahlkora, so no one is going to wonder "how do I get this for myself?" 81.170.176.98 18:25, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
