Having way too much trouble killing this guy[edit]

Is anyone else having way too much trouble killing this guy? He is wiping me nonstop. All party has 60%dp and I've used two items and still owning me.

We wiped once, rezzed at the nearby shrine, ran in and killed him. I did that h/h. Calor - talk 01:16, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Daze shuts him down completely. Bring Zho if you don't have a BHA ranger. -- Hong 01:10, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
I Brought Zho for his interrupts. My Mesmer is nothing but interrupts. Almost all my heroes have Mantra of Frost. Exceptions: Jora (Axe), Olias, (MM), and myself (Rit). Also brought Dunks (heals), Sousuke (fire), and Ogden (heals). The Final boss is nearly impossible! He attacks you before he is in your circle of sight (or whatever it is called!). We died too many times. I shall go and get new skills because I am clearly Lacking!--196.52.39.19 18:20, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
OK, I don't really know what happened this time... But, we died multiple times. Standing out of range, which is damn near the middle of the room prior to him, I decided we had to rush him. I found that he doesn't attack behind himself. So, that is where I camped. Rezing when I could, but mostly bring as much fury upon him as possible (I'm a Rit). After a while, this ass-hat finally died! I think Pain Inverter was key, though... I hate this quest more than I hate life! But, I got through it after too many tries. Also, his chest didn't provide a single thing! He SHOULD have provided a seriously scary green. At the VERY least...

WARNING[edit]

This guy has better sight than Santa Clause or Superman. He sees you when you are walking (out of sight). He sees you when you are standing (out of sight). He sees you at all times after first contact. Maybe someone else can make a song about this Remnant of Antiquities! I'm about to send a shotgun blast through my computer! Also... Why does this have to be associated with the Dwarves? There are no destroyers! Norn or Asura titles would be awesome, here. We need all the help we can get, you know! (I know why it is dwarves; I'm just venting!)

Tips[edit]

There are plenty of frozen elementalist enemies, including multiple regent bosses, all dealing cold damage. Best to bring fire elementalists with elemental resistance such as ward against elements. Putting the mesmer skill Mantra of frost on as many heros as possiple goes a long way in reducing damage and increasing mana in a cold dmg fight. The regent bosses heavy aoe spike so its good to interrupt them often. I found the asuran skill pain inverter invaluable in this dungeon, its definately worth considering even with a low asuran rank.

There will be alot of flagging of heros here if your using them as you will have to time movements precisely to avoid ice cannons wiping them out. Note: You will not be able to res friendlies with spirits of winter in the area, they must be destroyed first.

Level 1 must be fully cleared to get to level 2. Its ALOT of time consuming work, and you will have to recover alot of ground in the process. Don't get discouraged. -- ObsidianParadox 09:41, 02 March 2008 (CST)

Actually, I was able to proceed to level 2 by killing a minimal amount of foes, only those in my path. I didn't take a snapshot of the exact route I took, but I basically went Northeast to hit the second proof, then south to hit the third, and killed the 2 Regents that spawned on the way back. I did find the boss very hard, and I in fact gave up trying to beat this dungeon. I strongly recommend bringing Broad Head Arrow on any and every ranger possible, the Ward of Elements didn't do much good against the boss. Heal Area on monks is VERY useful as well, especially for the boss fight. Martyr+Purge conditions also proved useful. Mesmers with Diversion or Psychic distraction didn't do much good, since they died more often than they interrupted. Overall, the most difficult boss I have encountered in a long time. --ChristopherRodrigues 21:48, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Aye. same as Christ i killed the minimal amount i could kill in level 1. The trick is not how many foes you kill, but which proofs you take. And the boss is a hard hitter, but not something out of this world, just flag your heroes/hench away from each other and hit him with all your strength. An interrupter or BHA rangers r quite helpful. --MageUser MageMontu sig.pngMontu 22:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Alright, I went and did the mission again. I ran Ursan (rank 6, just for fun), I brought Lina, Mhenlo, Cynn, Eve, Devona, Pyre Fierceshot and Xandra. Xandra's build didn't matter most, since she was the first to die usually (although she had Warmonger's Weapon which I guess helped a little, even while she lay dead). Pyre's build, however, made this mission extremely easy and not frustrating, especially during the boss fight. He ran this skillset, and his attributes were 15 (12+1+2) Expertise, 10 (+1) Marksmanship, 10 (9+1) Wilderness Survival:

On the right you'll see a map of the route I took, which was the shortest route with the except when I went out of my way to hit the Res Shrine, just in case. When I got to boss, myself and heroes all had 10% Morale Boost, and zero deaths (as opposed to my last run, when we got there with 45% DP at least). Hope this helps! And good luck with the chest.--ChristopherRodrigues 18:31, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Word to the wise: I thought I could kill him easy enough with Pain Inverter. Even if we wiped, I could respawn and recast it on him so he could kill himself next time he cast Deep Freeze. It seemed to take a good deal of damage casting Deep Freeze under Pain Inverter, but he'd always recover the life by the time we returned (very very slowly his life lowered). Luckily, I had Meteor Storm on me and my hero and had Protective Spirit cast on us both so we could complete the cast before we died. Even then, it felt like at least 20 minutes before we killed him that way, level 10 Pain Inverter and all. --Eyekwah 16:30, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

I was able to H/H it. Of course it wasn't a good h/h team, but thankfully I had Gwen equipped with backfire and I would interrupt Deep Freeze before the Remnant would use it. If I were to do it again, I would definitely bring a daze. Ezekial Riddle 02:34, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Mantra of Frost is a big help here. Most of the damage here ist cold damage, so Mantra not only halves the dmg you take, but gives you a pretty effective energy management, too. My H&H team didn't suffer even one death killing the boss. Pudding 16:52, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Request[edit]

Can someone please send in a better pic of the mini map? There is an easy route that isn't tangled and confusing for the 1st floor. I'd do it but I don't know how

Moved from main page[edit]

Iplaile 04:34, 28 January 2009 (UTC)-- Remnant now throws Diamondshard Mist randomly around the room and can hit the Resurrection shrine. I was unable to damage the boss enough to persist through resurrection. Boss may be immune to knockdown.

Quick Route[edit]

I would suggest that the following route is probably the quickest: Go to the Proof of strength just to the NE of the entrance, get the area map which is past the Gate of Strength to the E if you need it,then back track and go N through the other Gate of Strength and head N and NE to the Proof of Kinship at the far top of the map. Back track S to the start, go through the E Gate of Strength and thence through the first gate of Kinship and NE to the Proof of Duty. Pass N through the second Gate of Kinship and head N to the top and then E through the northernmost Gate of Duty. Moebius the Malign 18:35, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Whats written above is right but is hard to follow. Go to 1, 2, 4, & 6 marked on the map for the first level. theres no need to hit the same type of proof twice. also, i think this should be noted somewhere in the walkthrough(which also could use some touching up, imo)the_decline 01:05, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Tips Changes Due to Recent Updates[edit]

Since the addition of 7 heroes and the changeto banishing strike, should the tips on Jin, and the part about Banishing strike causeing damage to your party be removed? Or at least Changed. --82.26.245.69 13:12, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Additional/Updated Tips[edit]

Given the change in skills and the uselessness of Daze against the final boss in HM, I find some of the existing tips not optimal. My suggestions would include or diifer per the following: a) Drop Daze, Nature's Renewal is the key skill kere. Almost every foe relies on hexes and/or some enchantments, meaning that casting time is doubled for most of their spells, not just the foe being dazed. It also works on the final boss when Daze does not and helps with the Jotun on the way to the dungeon. Almost every foe is then open to interupt by your heores. b) Due to Nature's Renewal, bring few hexes and no enchantments (except for any Dervs). (Hexes are a poor choice against the aforementioned Jotun and the dungeon necros strip enchantments.) The only hexes I currently use for this run are Mark of Rodgort, Pain Inverter, and (on human physicals to counter agsinst misses) Asuran Scan (which has no casting time). c) Replacing Ward Against Elements and protective enchantments, along with Mantra of Frost (or Hex Breaker if you prefer some damage) bring a resto Rit with Shelter, Union, etc. and a command Para with "Stand Your Ground!" and "They're on Fire!" (none of these four skills can be interupted by Maelstrom, H/H's tend to stand around anyway, and ToF works well with a fire ele and/or fire damage physicals). d) Additional odds and ends: All primary or secondary Mezs in your party should strongly consider Mirror of Disenchantment (no attrib pts req'd, and you need some enchantment removal), Anthem of Weariness helps against the enemy dervs due to their spell immunity (affects your melee ally as well), consider Healing Burst over Light of Del as it casts/recharges faster (Maelstrom again) and is a viable spike heal, and (of course) equip all physicals with a fire weapon or the equivalent (e.g. Kindle Arrows).
