Talk:The Tengu Accords
Discovery Mode[edit]
What exactly does it mean by "Vanquish all of Master Riyo's disciples."? Just kill everyone in the level or are there some specific guys I have to kill? I thought i'd killed everyone but didn't get the bonus. Lyra Valo 21:49, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- If you recall when Riyo (the guy who looks strikingly like Suun) he challenges you, he has a bunch of ranger students sitting in front of him. When you defeat Master Riyo *do not go through the next gate*. Wait for a moment, eventually the students now lined up on either side of that area will challenge you, kill them all. --Tayos 22:01, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- O rly? Thanks for that i'll go do it know. Hopefully I can get Talon to stay alive this time too ;) Lyra Valo 14:14, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- IMO the easiest discovery mode, probably because i wasnt under time pressure but still. it only requires you to heal a few people every now and then, search a bit of the map and kill about 8 extra people84.67.52.50 17:10, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Usually, the time pressure thing you'd do separately from the other discovery items. These 3 discoveries are do-able together. But keeping them alive requires more skill than some other discoveries. IMO both Gwen and Turai were easier, except you had to do it twice each. Alaris 17:17, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

- Um I have been sitting here waiting and they are not turning hostile. I haven't walked anywhere near the exit gates. I have just been sitting here. 96.61.78.97 19:57, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
Saving Talon Tips[edit]
I found that the other 11 discoveries were of easy or moderate challenge, but ensuring Talon's survival is causing me stuggles to no end. I can (fairly easily) get to the final courtyard, where the three groups of guards attack, but I'm having serious difficulty saving his skin at this point. The best I could do was to stand by Talon, and when they mob the two of us, hit Rage. That takes out most of them, but by the time the after-cast is gone and I can heal again, the ones with high enough armor or the few that were out of range tear through Talon like he was paper. I even tried pre-casting spirits before the cutscene, hoping that one of the groups would tank onto them (this didn't work, either). For those who have completed this discovery objective, do you have any tips? Any help is appreciated! --Mystisteel 02:10, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- I had little trouble for the rest of it but the guards you mentioned are a little tricky. The way I did (and I've done it a few times) is to pre-cast spirits in the aggro range of the two guard mobs near the door. Make sure the spirits are close by, use disenchantment on one side and the call to the spirit realm on the other. It is important to skip the cut scene when you enter the room, my spirits died during it when I didn't skip. As soon as you get control again run straght forward into the mob furthest from the door (in front of you), and when they mob Talon quickly use dragon rage. It should now be easy to take out the other two groups separately . Anon
- Thank you very much. I'm not certain why I didn't try to use spirit tanks on both sides. I'll try that tonight, and let you know how I make out. Very much appreciated! :) --Mystisteel 15:26, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Pre-casting on both sides worked like a charm. Thank you very much! :) --Mystisteel 17:01, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- What i did was, wait for them to attack (The first group), then heal Talon just as the other to groups had done ~2/3's of their journey, heal Talon. Then he should have enough health to last about 4 seconds, in the mean time, use rage them heal talon again. I didn't use any spirits what so ever :D. -84.67.52.50 17:14, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- I can certainly complete the mission this way without any problem, but didn't have a chance to actually save Talon. By the time the first group (on the stairs) starts hitting Talon, both the other groups are there, as well (there's only a delay long enough to get off one Rage and one heal - not even close to enough healing/damaging power to save him). --Mystisteel 05:52, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Here's how I did it:
After defeating Master Riyo, head out through the doors and watch the cutscene. Immediately after the cutscene finishes, run down to the bottom of the (center) stairs, and use Call to the Spirit Realm. Talon will follow you, and since he's close enough that he's within aggro radius of the center guards group, he will charge forward to engage them once they turn hostile.
While Talon engages the guards, wait for the other 2 groups to approach. The 3 spirits will help keep the new guards occupied so they don't all focus on Talon, and they should all ball up nicely around you. Now use Dragon Empire Rage and you should kill all (or nearly all) of them.
This method worked like a charm for me 3 out of 3 times. - Zaxares 02:17, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- My method was simular. I charged the center group together with Talon (he always tend to charge the center group). Heal Talon 1-2 times then cast Rage. This should dispatch of almost every foe in a blink of an eye. -- Nox Coma 07:08, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Contradictions[edit]
1. If this was the end to the Tengu Wars, and the Day of the Tengu was the one year anniversary of the peace, what made Togo turn gray so fast? 2. When would Talon have been defeated by General Zhan? --24.179.151.252 14:13, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- There isn't any indication that the Tengu wars ended that exact day, only that two of the three diplomats ended up saying "These humans aren't too shabby". Fighting could have continued as the leaders of both sides attempted to convince their constituants to stand down against the enemy and let their hatred go. Togo's story even says "Master Togo brought the Tengu's complaints to the emperor, and hammered home a lasting peace", so it likely didn't just stop all in one day (sometimes, true peace or any peace takes a long time after a truce - watch Battlestar Galactica as a reference!) :P --Mystisteel 18:42, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Ohh nice save. Kinda like Australia with Kyoto... the change in the public opinion happened a long time ago but it took a long time for us to move that change into political action. Anon
- Maybe it was the stress and effort of making peace so quickly that turned him grey? :P--Son of Batman 11:37, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Togo's Staff[edit]
- Would it make sense to use upgrades on the staff? Perhaps a wrap of +1 Mastery or better yet +1 Restoration, a +5 Insightful Staff Head, and perhaps "Don't think twice", or other inscription?
- Do you get to keep the staff? If so, it would make a fine weapon for your Razah or Xandra heroes.
- At any rate, this staff seems to be indestructible when expert salvaged, so you risk nothing in upgrading it, and then retrieving the upgrades after completing the mission. Gwynna Vive 20:30, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- To answer my own question, yes, you get to keep the staff, including the +1 Channeling wrap, +5 Insightful Head, and "Don't think twice" mods I attached (tossed it into your storage vault before authorizing the story if you wish)
- ...Xandra will be pleased :) Gwynna Vive 21:28, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
1st attempt only[edit]
So let me get this straight. I only had one shot at the Discovery Mode and I blew it? That's bullshit. 71.192.171.162 19:55, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- Nope, as many times as you wish to accomplish discoveries. Sounds Risky | 19:57, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- Then why does it say first attempt only? 71.192.171.162 12:17, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
- It means you only get that 2.5p once.

Trivia[edit]
The Spirits Togo summons with the skill Call To The Spirit Realm are labeled Anger, Hate, and Suffering. Could this be a possible Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace refference? Like when Yoda notices that Anakin is fearful, and says: "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.".EDIT: I went to the actual skill page and noticed it there, so disregard this comment.Ghostbuddy 05:25, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Bad Walkthrough?[edit]
I don't understand the walkthrough for the "save the three Tengu representitives" discovery. I have tried to follow it several times and in each case, not only was it entirely ineffective, it didn't work as it claimed it would. Surely I'm not doing something wrong here? To begin with, there's no cutscene. (Although I'm assuming the author is referring to the speech Wona makes just before his guards turn hostile.) Secondly, the spirits only last 30 seconds: it takes longer than this to run over to Wona from the gate, wait for his speech to end, and kill the guards. Furthermore, when the assassins start spawning, they are well beyond aggro range of the northern gate and thus the spirits have no effect. I tried placing them by the eastern and western gates, but these are closed from the beginning and it's impossible to trap a spirit. The assassins don't really aggro them anyway. Finally, I tried placing the spirits on the southern steps, but, of course, there's no gate there. Didn't work. In the end I was able to get the discovery by simply placing my spirits in the center of the room and healing the Tengu like crazy. --Mme. Donelle 23:18, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and the walkthrough makes reference to the Dragon Empire Rage skill, which of course isn't even charged at this point in the mission. I'm starting to suspect this walkthrough is intended for the "vanquish Riyo's disciples" discovery, lol. --Mme. Donelle 23:21, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Oh, yes, it is. It says "Master Riyo" right at the start. -_- I'll move it to the appropriate section. --Mme. Donelle 23:23, 6 January 2009 (UTC)- I did charge Dragon Empire Rage at the end of that part of the mission (it's what I used to finish off the assassins), but the walkthrough is very badly written. Not to mention what was really hard, to me at least, was keeping Talon alive for the entirety of the mission. In the corridor where a small army appear, he died within seconds. Weird trivia/notes[edit]
"The person in the background of the loading screen for this mission appears to be wielding an Obsidian Earth Staff." Well first "That person" is togo... duh. And second I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be Togo's staff... 70.29.82.38 17:49, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Annoying[edit]
You miss cast one skill and you get owned. Ive failed this 3 times in a row and its truely sad. There are times when that tengu will just stand there, ussualy he runs in which is good for a tank, enough time to cast Spirit rift/Rage. Ive beaten it several times, just I have never found a way to actually beat it consistently, as evidence of me managing to still fail at it. Just my little rant of the day. Justice 21:14, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. --Arduin 21:16, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
add another 2 fails to this. I just dont get it... Justice 11:24, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
quite stupid mission - especialy killing Master Ryio - even if two in party - he has interruption elite spirit + burn HOW TO beat him?
Togo's Profession[edit]
Obviously, he's a Ritualist, but in the party menu, he's labeled R/Mo instead of Rt/Mo. Weird, huh?216.229.78.186 04:44, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
- Were you R/Mo? I'm W/R and Togo shows the same thing. It only shows your proffession, not his. 82.72.147.62 07:37, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Bodyblocked Talon![edit]
Now this is odd. I've been constantly trying to do Discovery #2 (once I almost got it but Talon died to Wona. So close!) But I've now found something that could offer a guarranteed Discovery 2 completion, to the price of a little less manpower. After the first attack, I ran straight to a door and as Talon tried to follow me, he got (seemingly) bodyblocked by Swift Honorclaw. I'm testing out Swift a little as we speak and I can't run 'into' him. This could be a useful tip on gaining D2. I don't think it would be too hard to beat the mission without him, except for maybe at Wona. I'm going to try this right now while I have the 'bug' exploited. If I'm successful, I will try to exploit it again to see if it can be repeated. Wish me luck. 82.72.147.62 07:35, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, scrap that attempt. The guards at the bridge will not turn hostile without Talon. I can't continue. :( 82.72.147.62 07:46, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Southest point?[edit]
Isn't this the most southern point of whole Tyria, even more south than Amatz Basin?
