I'm thinking... Objective is always the Mission/Quest and the *BONUS* objectives are always Master Reward/Bonus Objective and Hard Mode. ---- Alexanderpas Talk|Contrib|Guild 12:17, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Probably, but who knows Anet could start getting creative on us. Blood Brother Zell 23:51, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
yeah cant wait till they turn around and say "*BONUS* complete the mission with your eyes closed."the master
It would be more along the lines of say "*BONUS* Complete the mission with party wide 60%Death Penalty." Or maybe, "*BONUS* Complete the mission without any deaths."Kage Melandru
They would have to change some of the mechanics of the game to measure and report that, so I doubt you'll see it. Freedom Bound 11:19, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
that and they probably wouldn't put the bonus for HM and have 60% dp since they cant be done at same time and if you look at the rewards for other zquests the bonus stuff can be achieved in same match (or at least you can complete 1 bonus while working towards finishing the other) 66.232.240.227 19:32, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Instead of making a z-mission page for each one, why not have this current page and then a subsection on the regular mission page stating its z-mission tasks and rewards?--Justice 18:34, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Because they each have their own quest ID in game (so when you hit Help, the link goes directly to the wiki individual mission page). Freedom Bound 19:11, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Primary?[edit]

Why are these (in the individual quests) listed as Primary (Category: Core Primary Quests)? They don't appear under the primary quests for me in-game... I don't think they do, anyway. Freedom Bound 19:10, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Primary type is a community defenition, not iname. AFAIK, there is no set rule for what is classed as one, rather it is worked out on a case by case basis. Backsword 13:03, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, right, but if you go to Primary quest, you'll note that the (community) definition of a primary quest is one that advances the storyline. The Zaishen missions don't do that. And as noted on the primary quest page, there is at least a cursory ingame definition of Primary Quest, as that's what category they show up under in your quest log. Everything else shows up under the area or some other header (like the GOLEM quests). Freedom Bound 13:08, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Also, only a few of the Zquests are listed as Primary. Most of them are listed as secondary. Freedom Bound 13:10, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Change the Bonus?[edit]

in case starters get confused should we put Z BONUS, so we don't have people complain how can i get the bonus it's HM only Zachariah Zuan. talk 19:58, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

hell no, this bonus makes guardian title alot easier because it takes about 5min to find a good PuG who can Master a hard mission --Ritualist-tango-icon-200.pngRequiem 18:03, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
i'm pretty sure he meant to clarify that the bonus for the mission isn't to finish in HM, but to say that the bonus for the zaisehn quest is to do that

Why is Anet repeating Zaishen Missions already?[edit]

It seems they should go thru all the available mission before starting to repeat missions. The Z coins are a nice incentive to go thru on HM for all my characters, but I don't really want to repeat missions over and over for coins....Madbax 16:46, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

This is just my opinion but I think these were all the zmissions they had done for the april update or up until may. Either they aren't going to do any new zquests, since they take a long time to make or since there hasnt been a substantial update this month, they havent added any new zquests. --Johnnyrodrigues 16:51, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
It was noted on one of the anet pages that it was an error, basically the "counter" was reset. The repeats were not intended. Freedom Bound 16:55, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Do you know when will they "fix" the counter so we dont do a month of repeated quests? --Johnnyrodrigues 17:19, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
I don't believe that a fix was discussed, but I would imagine that they wouldn't wait a whole month if they were planning on fixing it. Basically, if they fix it, I would look for it to be fixed when they dole out the TRPs, which should be tomorrow (?). Freedom Bound 17:33, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
I have a bit of a theory myself. The "high-end" players (The ones with 137 stacks of ectoes and 35 maxed titles on 7 different characters) relised that in around 60-odd days people would get all of the Protector titles with very little effort while they slaved over their computers trying to get theirs, so they complaind that onlt half of the missions should be done with the Zaishen Mission and the rest of missions people should get themselves, so not everybody gets Legendary Protector. My theory anyway, feel free to compain. Flaming Hot Chilli 07:32, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
How can doing a mission as a Zaishen Mission make it possible to get a Protector title with very little effort compared to what it normally takes ? Kirbett 13:50, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Easier to find group. Frothen Flame 09:19, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Ah yes, as indeed I've now discovered. On the other hand, I would imagine this is the way Guild Wars is supposed to work. I would guess that as the bulk of players advanced through the missions it was becoming increasingly difficult to form a group, and some missions were starting to become the province of just those particularly skillful players who could solo effectively. To my mind, the Zaishen Mission structure brings players back together again, which is as it should be.Kirbett 09:56, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

(Reset indent) There is no conspiracy, when the Live Team fixed bugs in the Zaishen quests last week, the counter was going to restart. The only thing that would have been done would be setting the set's "starting quests", which was forgotten (and which is why there were two of each one day). There is no "fixing" this counter. There is no "conspiracy". Just wait for your silly titles, you still get Zaishen Coins anyways for your equipment packs (since that is probably why everyone's doing the quests - equipment packs and titles). -- Azazel the Assassin/talk 07:41, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Is Zaishen Mission an NPC, Signpost, or type of Zaishen Challenge Quest?[edit]

Actually, I know it's all three, but primarily I think of it as a type of Zaishen Challenge Quest, to which I propose it should link in the introductory paragraph, rather than just doing so in the See Also's at the bottom of the page - there is after all, an awful lot of significant information pertinent to Zaishen Mission on the Zaishen Challenge Quest page.

The same goes for Zaishen Bounty and Zaishen Combat. Anybody disagree? Kirbett 12:05, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

repeatable?[edit]

Are these missions repeatable on the same character? I've never bothered with the Z Missions until today, so I'm kinda new to all this. DevilJinKazama 08:27, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

No, the missions are not repeatable on the same character. The Zaishen Combat quests are, though. -- Hong 08:41, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

u get different ones every dayHubbard User Hubbard sig icon.png The Dervish 08:43, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks ^^. Now I know it's futile to try and do them on the same char over and over.
Hey one more question, is this like Nick, where only one character can do these things, or can your alts also do the quests? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.75.188.76 (talk).

Due date?[edit]

If I take a mission, do I have to do it on the day I picked up the quest? For example, can I pick up the mission today, feel too busy, do it tomorrow and still get the reward tomorrow? codezero 02:07, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Yep, you can do it and get the reward whenever you want after you get the quest. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 02:13, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
And you can have up to three such missions at any one time outstanding in your log. Kirbett 09:48, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
How about completing a mission close to when it reappears in the rotation? Minister Cho's Estate is up today, but not available to my paragon. I did it yesterday while it was in my log from the last time. Too close? Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 21:53, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Did you complete the mission (i.e. claim the reward) before it became the mission of the day at 16:00 UTC, or was it still in your log at that time? Kirbett 22:01, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Claimed reward yesterday. Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 22:03, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Same is true for my ranger. Maybe the quests need to be completed 24 hours, at a minimum, before they come up again? Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 22:58, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
I guess they have to have some logic to prevent the current quest being taken more than once at a time, and it sounds as if the logic isn't perfect, in which case it may have flaws in it. If it was keeping track of the last zaishen quest taken, it might lose track if you had another zaishen quest you could complete (unlikely). Or if it was working on a 24-hour delay, maybe it would let you take the quest after 24 hours after completing it before. Or maybe not. Kirbett 00:14, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
There's a similar discussion at Talk:Zaishen Challenge Quest#Zquest is not available when the same one was completed yesterday. --Silver Edge 02:07, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
I think the Notes section of the Zaishen Challenge Quest page mentions the problem people are having: "You cannot take a quest if you already have that quest, and it will no longer become available again if you already had the same quest from an earlier date or turned it in during the same cycle (except Combat Quests)." --Silver Edge 09:04, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
I have cleaned up those notes, because I found the one you quoted a little opaque. There are now 2.5 notes:
  • You can keep any quest for as long as you want before doing it.
  • You cannot take a quest if you already have that quest in your log.
    • If you keep a Mission or Bounty quest for the whole cycle and complete it on the day (or the day before) it comes up again, it will not be offered again on that day.
I believe I interpreted the above discussion, but please make sure this is correct! | 72 User 72 Truly Random.jpg | 14:10, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Cycle changed[edit]

...with the Embark Beach update. The mission today is Sebelkeh, not Boreas. 84.101.140.84 17:56, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Movement bug when interacting with the three signs.[edit]

I noticed countless times you will start spazing out with the signs when you auto move to them. A bug exists that you will get stuck in the small space between them. You can easily change direction and get out of the glitch. I think its worth noting.Yumiko ^,~ 17:53, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

It's a pathing problem that is not at all unique to these particular NPCs. However, I support some type of note, since (a) it happens much more often with these signs and (b) the results are much more annoying for these than for e.g. the xunlai chests in GToB. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:18, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Level of Difficulty[edit]

I was rather suprised to find that the Normal Mission is just NM, when by the time your doing Zaishen Missions, I would think your pretty well along in a campain, or two really; I know A-net's not putting too many resources into GW1 now, but a Patch with a Zaishen Mode; something between NM and HM would be nice; say up the Level of the Mobs to 20 or so per HM; but without the speed buffs. The proposed mode would be triggered if you have the (or just a) active Zaishen Mission; so no changes need be made to the GUI. --Blackbirdx61 16:50, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Do people really do zaishen quests in anything other than Hard mode? File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 23:02, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Yes. Mainly alt & lesser used chars that I rushed thru campaigns not carring if I got masters in NM or not. Now I'm, going back and finishing off (for something to do). Doing them in NM when the zaishen mission is available is a nice inducement for a few extra zcoins --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 14:20, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Believe it or not, not everyone has gotten HM down yet; Anyhow it seems to me an intermediate mode would have a real place, especially as Bram said as an inducement to play Alt Toons. --Blackbirdx61 17:35, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

No "(Completed)" tag[edit]

Normally when a quest is finished it says "(Completed)" next to the quests name, these do not, are they supposed to? I mean sure you can just look at the quest text to see if it tells you that you are finished, I was just wondering if its bugged or something. 173.69.23.64 01:12, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

It's noted at Zaishen Challenge Quest. --Silver Edge 09:40, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Bonus Bug?[edit]

I twice completed the first bonus on the Nolani mission (return the book), and it registered as completed both in the quest long and on screen sword animation, but when I turned in the quest, I did not get the first bonus reward (22 coppers). I've done this on multiple characters, and the result is inconsistent (2/3 times no bonus reward, 4/5 times proper reward). Has anyone else experienced this? (Sept 30, 2016 - "Countess Corpula" been a while and I've forgotten how to sign these things.)

You can sign comments by typing four tildes (~) in a row. As for the actual question, I haven't heard of anything like this before, but I've seen strange things happen with other prophecies-missions related zaishen quests. Jeree95 (talk) 17:18, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
