Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Guild Wars Wiki pages that have open discussion, such as in Talk:The Great Destroyer, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. — ク Eloc 貢 01:05, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
I knew about the tilde thing, didn't know about the sig. button, I have my own account now, but I think when I did that "-Rella" thing I was logged off or without my current account. Can you tell me how I can reply directly to a conversation, say on Isiah Cartright's page talking about skills, and I want to reply, can I reply to it without adding a whole new subject? Example: When I press the '+' button next to 'edit' I am forced to start a whole sub-subject, I want it to where I can reply to the last person's message, and where it has the indentions so it knows that I am replying to them. Thanks --68.116.156.71 03:24, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- When there is a whole new section, just click on the edit button to the right of the section you want to reply to. That answer your question? — ク Eloc 貢 17:09, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Well in this page here, there's not an edit button, so I click the tab at the top, still I don't know how I could possibly "reply" with the indention and whatnot, I see on your last post there was a ":" before the text, I'm wondering how I can get that, if you go to:[1] you should see an edit button, but that brings you to the "Teams" section..Am I missing something, or is this just how wiki works? If it's just how a wikipedia works then I'm sure I'll adapt just like the rest of us, but I'm pretty confident I'm doing something wrong.--68.116.156.71 04:14, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- The "edit" link at the top is for you edit this entire page at once. The "+" link at the top allows you to add a section. A section is identified by a single line of larger font that has a long horizontal line below it. in Talk:Magnetic Surge, the "Team" you mentioned is a section. If you click the "[edit]" link that appears to the right of a section header (i.e. the "Team" line) then you will be editing only that section, and not the whole page in its entirety. Both edits work, the difference is that if you use the edit link at the top, you see the entire talk page and you'll have to manually search for the section you want to add to.
- When we say "reply", it usually means just adding an indented response to whatever comment you're replying to. You indent using colons (":"). The more colons you use, the greater the indent. This is way MediaWiki works. MediaWiki is just the wiki software or system that's used by Wikipedia, Guild Wars Wiki, and many other wikis - all of these wikis will function more or less similarly. For more editing help, see Help:Editing. Also, since you mentioned that you have an acocunt, you might want to login before you do edits. All edits are logged by the system, so if you're not logged in, your IP address is used and the contribution is not actually credited to you (that is, your username). -- ab.er.rant 04:24, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh ok, I thought I was logged in, sorry, this helps, thanks, Aberant. Rella 21:29, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
