Stubs

I noticed that some of the pages that I stubed had been reverted back by you. I would like to know why this is, the page is incomplete as sevreal links do not exist.--Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg

Oh never mind I see ok I did not know thanks for informing me (looked at contirbutes), sorry about that--Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg
Sorry I didn't leave you a talk page message as well, I was trying to fit as much in as I could in breaks between playing. If you wanna tag pages with the {{image needed}} tag instead that would be awesome. :) - BeX iawtc 01:20, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Talk pages

I was just wondering whether or not you are allowed to remove all talk messages from a talk page. I heard somewhere that you couldn't I was wondering if this was true but I'm not sure. Do you know? --Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg

It depends on the type of talk page. Normal talk pages you can't remove anything except GWW:NPA violations, although vandalism could be removed, but you'd have to be pretty sure it was just vandalism and not some person just making dumb comments. As for user talk pages, you can remove everything and start over, but you have to keep an archive of it linked from your talk. The details are here. - BeX iawtc 06:45, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
What about a guild talk page, (I'm trying to learn all the ropes so :o), you were recommened)-- Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg
lol :) No worries. Any talk page can be archived. If the content is uncontroversial and uneeded, you can request the entire page be deleted with a {{delete}} tag. - BeX iawtc 06:53, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok thanks, I am trying to become a good editer on here, the thing with the stubs I misunderstood but I understand now lol, thanks for th ehelp, and feel free to correct me on my mistakes lol -- Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg
Don't worry too much about making mistakes. People won't hate you for it or anything. I make heaps of mistakes all the time, lol! :D - BeX iawtc 06:58, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
lol I will keep that in mind -- Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg

np, always glad to help. :) - BeX iawtc 08:59, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
while we're at it, as i see you already notices that this isn't the female Norn armor. It's Jora's Hero armor afaik. We could maybe add a little sub-category for miscellaneous icons, one part of them being Hero armors with special races. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 00:36, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
whoops...nvmd. The project pans out! :D —ZerphatalkThe Improver 00:37, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Monk tattoos

D'oh, I just rounded up the monk tattoos and was going to upload them, but I see you beat me to it! =p — Rappy 06:30, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Sorry. D: I'm stopping soon for the day anyway. ;) - BeX iawtc 06:31, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Don't stop on my account... I just need to search to find something else to upload. =) — Rappy 06:36, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
I been staring at icons for about 16 hours. I need a break lol. XD - BeX iawtc 06:37, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Only 16 is it? Cause you're been spamming recent changes everytime I've been looking at it since yesterday sometime. :P — Galil Talk page 06:38, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
I had a sleep in between haha! ^_^ - BeX iawtc 06:39, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
I get tired of getting to the point of Down arrow, right-click, extract, enter, click, down arrow, right-click, extract, enter, click, enter D'oh (browser closes from hitting enter key) ... after extracting 50+ icons, mis-hitting enter once requires you to wait a full 10 mins for it to reload the whole .dat again =\ — Rappy 06:42, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
I haven't done that yet luckily! I wish it was easier to filter stuff though. :( It would be awesome if we could choose only to load up the icons when it opens. D: - BeX iawtc 06:43, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
I could prolly reverse engineer the program and re-write it so instead of showing them, it would auto-extract all the graphic images, but I don't feel like going through all that trouble. I could whip up something in mIRC I am sure to do it if I knew the file structure a little better. — Rappy 06:46, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Probably not worth the bother after all the progress we've made already. :) - BeX iawtc 06:50, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I agree... looks like most, if not all, will be done in the next few days. — Rappy 06:52, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

yes, with seven ppl it's working awesome now. The fact that it possibly would have been doable easier is not that sad for me, this way i do not have to feel stupid that i was the only one proceeding this way. :P Btw, Bex's contribs do not only have quantity, they also have quality ^^—ZerphatalkThe Improver 18:53, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Haha, you know most days I wouldn't have caught that. It was lucky I checked from candidates for deletion and had both tabs open. ;D - BeX iawtc 02:29, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Lol^^ well don't worry, if you wouldn't have seen it, i'd have done so this midday. These Helms were the last thing i uploaded the last day, so before uploading another pic, i automatically took a look into the Warrior Ascalon folder again at first, and then also noticed that. Maybe i wouldn't have done so if i wouldn't have known that they are, but well, i was maybe too tired the last day :P
Hmmm, another thing: Do you possibly know how to set another default file displaying? The first thing I have to do when uploading icons is changing to the miniature icons view^^ It's a lot more useful than only filenames with numbers. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 03:31, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
If you mean in your operating system, I know with XP it's supposed to save it on a per folder basis. But as for the upload window, I don't know either and it was bothering me too!!! - BeX iawtc 03:39, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Welcome Color

Sorry about blinding u with my welcoming, lol. Thanks for changing it I was going to. I am trying to work out a good welcome, if u wanna see my most current one go to User:Shadowphoenix/Sandbox, I like it but Galil doesn't lol --Shadowphoenix 05:03, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Welcome templates have been pretty controversial here, so expect some negativity! The color is much better now, lol. I would have picked a shade of pink but that would have required me opening photoshop or finding hex codes online and I am lazy. :P Fun fact: my computer is hot pink. ;D - BeX iawtc 05:11, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Well I havent realy gotten negativity but I have gotten some talk from Galil about it. That is why I am not making it a template I am just leavin it like it is lol. I have more work to do on it though Galil and I think that it still sounds a little automated, but Galil also thinks it intimadating I really dont see how lol. I am going to dull down the text make it look a little more personalized, I am thinking about putting a lighter shade of pink 2. My computer is black & gray lol nothing special. --Shadowphoenix 05:15, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
The backstory is, that Eloc was spamming welcome templates on peoples' talk pages, often not even checking if they were really new to the wiki. It actually drove one person away. The intimidation probably comes from the implication of being told in a big colorful message that you are doing something wrong, rather than being notified subtley. I think I would probably find it embarassing, lol. Personalising the text is the way to go, but I would consider removing the color, and instead maybe putting a little friendly icon instead. - BeX iawtc 05:23, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Bah, I didn't get a hot pink welcome box. :p -- Hong 05:27, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh I plan to put an icon eventually (just got to find the right one), but I don't send it to people who have done something wrong I just send it to new users (have been with the wiki a month or less). But I dont think I will remove the color because I want it to be kind of happy go lucy message instead of a dull boring message. Would u want to get a welcome that was grey and said Welcome to the wiki, we want to tell u what to do so u wont mess up blah blah blah blah.....lol. Do you see what I mean. When I want a welcome I want a nice colorful pretty welcome with information that will get me started. But I am still thinking up ways to improve it. If u have anymore suggestions, I wanna hear them though. Oh sorry Hong I will go change urs right now k XD --Shadowphoenix 05:30, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Characters

At some point u have got to let us see your characters lol --Shadowphoenix 06:03, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

haha I will! Probably after I finish getting them r3 survivor and nice armor. :> - BeX iawtc 06:19, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
lol ok cant wait --Shadowphoenix 06:24, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
your chars are all going to get r3 survivor? nice^^ —ZerphatalkThe Improver 22:36, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Most of them anyway. :) I won't remake my warrior because he has done too much that I don't want to redo. A couple of others I won't bother with either hehe. - BeX iawtc 22:41, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
yeah, i suppose there are many players that have a mainchar that is older as the title and as such do not have the possibility to gain an legendary survivor or ldoa equivaltent. I hope this gets changed someday ;) —ZerphatalkThe Improver 23:02, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Me too! It would be wonderful to get that title on him, but the desire isn't strong enough for me to delete him and start again. :( It would also be cool because LDoA wouldn't be mutually exclusive with Survivor anymore! - BeX iawtc 23:06, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm, that's a thing i'm not sure about again. There are also many players that started a new mainchar with Legendary Survivor to be able to get the biggest amount of archievable titles, as they knew that they can either choose between ldoa or survivor. Now, if these players have a mainchar without a title again that they cannot get anymore would possibly knock the stuffing out of them. I'd also dislike it as it would automatically cause only Prophecies characters to be able to have the biggest amount of archievable titles :( My suggestion was merely to have the possibility to start to collect xp for survivor title again after death, but then with another title naming so that players can see whether one archieved this title without ever dieing or later on. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 00:29, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
I see your point. I would cause a lot of problems in the player base, I'm sure, lol. - BeX iawtc 02:06, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I thought...

...what i want to answer to this would be too unfitting in this talk, so i'll do so here:
No worries, i won't change the armor or weapon pages until i get the permission. Maybe i should start making the templates on my userpage. Or wait, i should upload the icons first. May I reupload the weapon icons now? Suppose "regular" weapons can be uploaded without "icon" at the end as arranged, and icons with common names that need a specific disambiguation note in brackets will be noted on the corresponding project pages and can be discussed. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 22:36, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

It's not about changing the pages without permission, per se. We haven't discussed at all yet how the icons will be presented on the armor pages so we don't know what will be necessary for that. In the instance of the weapon icons, they will most likely be in the infobox, probably at the bottom.
Creating templates for these functions is so unnecessary because formatting varies so much, and they won't be widely used. Skill icon exists because thousands of pages use that formatting. Templates can be very helpful when fairly strict formatting is extremely widespread, and the task is excessively repetitive. In other situations they are constricting and unecessary.
And skill icon redirects exist because when the icons are (widely) used in skill bars or tables it's convenient. The same wont be said for item icons, because the primary purpose for them is the infobox of the item article. No point in making a loop there. :P
On the whole images generally don't require redirects. Imagine on a user page, someone says what weapon they have. In most cases they will make a link next to their icon, because they will mention the mods on it too. Of course if a user personally wants their icons to redirect, they can easily reupload the image under their userspace. Requiring all of this stuff for the mainspace icons is limiting and unnecesarry.
Using the weapon icons on other pages probably won't happen, because skins are shared and the icons don't give enough additional information. People will also be resistant to changing formatting of thousands of pages for something that gives very little benefit. - BeX iawtc 22:55, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Maybe it isn't that useful for most userpages, but i don't understand why this should be constricting if not used frequently. If we used an icon for every weapon once, we wouldn't theoretically need any text for this weapon as the name of the icon reflects that of the icon and then automatically could redirect to it. Some users may tend to do so on their pages. And if we'd list the items dropped with {{Item icon}}, it would not be used infrequently. Hmmm, but why exactly do you have such a dislike against an icon for every weapon? I first thought you want to have a common name so that you have a consistent overview which user or whatever links to this image, but if you recommend to upload special user images for the same icons that cannot be the case...In case the icons got updated, this would seemingly make updating also easier.
But if you want to have an overview which images are shared, this shouldn't be the problem - as i said, i could list the shared icons on the corresponding icon pages... —ZerphatalkThe Improver 23:53, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

hi there

Apparently you blocked me for an NPA violation (IP is 71.229.204.25) earlier today without any prior or post-block warning, explanation, or an entry on the admin noticeboard. I'm posting with a proxy because I don't feel like waiting until the point is moot to get an explanation or a chance to defend myself, and after seeing Readem's logs I'm not too sure I want to try my luck on the IRC channel. If you blocked me for being a dick, that's another thing entirely, but I'd appreciate it if you'd change the reason for my ban if that's the case. There's just something about honesty that doesn't piss people off as much.

Also, if you'd give me about five minutes before blocking this proxy, that'd be peachy, since I came here to ask Gaile to ask whoever does that stuff to give us more than ten ignore slots, given the recent increase in spambots. --64.202.126.223 05:12, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

The point of being blocked is that you're, you know, blocked. From editing. If it was okay to edit while blocked, that kinda defeats the purpose. -- Hong 05:16, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
If I knew of some way to reliably contact him outside of GWW, I wouldn't need to edit. All I'm asking for is a link or half dozen words. --67.159.46.130 05:23, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
You can reliably contact him on GWW. Just wait a couple of days. -- Hong 05:25, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Contrary to popular belief Bex is actually a female of the species. I suggest waiting for a response here or camping out in #gww for her, she's bound to see you somewhere. -- scourge 05:39, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
I think our anonymous friend means he/she/it wants to contact the programmer at Anet responsible for handling ignore slots, who is assumed to be male. -- Hong 05:46, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I am doing a million things at once and about to go out for dinner (Chinese New Year) but at a cursory glance I think I probably made a mistake so I'll remove the block and review it when I get back. Sorry for the inconvenience and I will get to this asap! - BeX iawtc 05:54, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, and sorry for the bad timing. --71.229.204.25 21:30, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm thinking I may have misclicked or mistyped or something without realising, because it's a complete mystery to me. :S Sorry that I took so long to come back to this. The past few days have been hectic! - BeX iawtc 02:09, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

do you know...

how to move a talk section? I've seen this happened in gaile talks several times, but idk if that was done completly manually or not. or should i just write it down a second time? —ZerphatalkThe Improver 15:37, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Just copy and pasting and using {{moved}}. :) - BeX iawtc 15:39, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Necromancer vabbian gallery

i understand that the female dye gallery is linked to the female galerry. I just really believe they both should have be linked from the main vabbian necromancer armor page, because i found the dye galerry important too. I thought about merge the dye galerry in the main female galerry too, but i thought it could be a quite big page then. But if the only link is hidden in it, should i do it ? I thought two more link on the armor page where not that much, and were easily found. Should i put everything on the common female galerry page if you don't wan't a second link ? lussh 16:09, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Like I said on the talk page, this should be discussed at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting/Armor art articles or Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting/Armor art galleries. When dyed images were brought up in the past it was decided that we would not include dye images because the pages would get too long with everyones' dye combinations, and because the renders and component shots adequately showed the dyeable areas. I can understand that actual dyed images are useful as well in showing how exactly the armor dyes, but the formatting change is not a minor one and should be discussed there first before it is implemented. While formatting guidelines are generally easy to change, any controversial or major changes should be discussed first and get some sort of consensus, otherwise you are likely to get reverted. - BeX iawtc 16:18, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

i understand nothing in theses kinds of things, i just ask for the link you reverted. if it is too much, then, to stay polite, i'm unhappy about it, but i'm too lazy to fight for it. i really think it's sad to miss that. lussh 17:00, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't understand what you are trying to say here so I can't really respond. If I have the time I will bring up the formatting change myself and let you know about the discussion. I can't do it now because its 3:30am and I am sleepy. - BeX iawtc 17:31, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

ok let just say i feel sad about it, but i'm to lazy to argue my point. Sorry for the time, it's the evenning for me,i wish you a good night. lussh 17:35, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Collecting cats

Was working through special:Uncategorizedpages and noticed that it's dominated by /collector subpages. Since you seem to be the person behind them, I was wondering if you had thought of some scheme to categorise them? Backsword 12:10, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

If you can come up with a situation where categorizing those pages would be helpful, then I can probably come up with something, but without knowing the intent behind it (navigation, etc) I can't really think of anything. I think adding a cat for the sake of them not being in Special:Uncategorizedpages is pretty unnecessary though. - BeX iawtc 12:23, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't know much about those pages, that's why I came to you, so I wouldn't know what would be useful. Pages normally benefit from categories, and I fell stonger than you that clearing them from uncat pages would be good, as it makes it so much easier to spot those pages that really needs their cats, but don't have them. Backsword 15:04, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
If you are determined to do it, then go something like Category:Collector subpages with subcat of Category:Armor collector subpages. IDK if it needs to be split any more than that. - BeX iawtc 01:04, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Right. Presumably, since they'll e transcluded, using Noinclude would be a good idea? Backsword 10:59, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Your changes to the Collector items by profession pages

I don't understand the purpose of the changes you are making. Why send people to a redirect page? That just seems wrong somehow. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 13:46, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Because they were linked to a species page. - BeX iawtc 13:51, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, I have changed them to (while Enchanted) to avoid the redirect page. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 14:13, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Enchantment is a redirect page... - BeX iawtc 14:15, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
But it goes directly to the Enchantment spell page, rather than the actual redirect page. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 14:19, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Then the simpler thing to fix would have been the double redirect instead. - BeX iawtc 14:21, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
It's up to you if you want to revert the changes you made. Both give identical results now, but the (while Enchanted) uses far less characters. - BeX iawtc 14:28, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks 2

Thanks matey, I thought i had broken something then when i saw it. Was like "oh bugger! what have i done now?!". You're a star for fixing it though. Oh by the way seeing as i got one in GW:EN should we change the drop places to include GW:EN aswell as factions? -- Salome 14:35, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

No probs. And yeah, add EotN to the campaigns in the infobox. If you want to add the results of the drop research you could do that too. - BeX iawtc 14:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Will do. -- Salome 14:39, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Bex just did some checking on other weapons which are multi campaign but not core weapons and found that a lot of them are missing their later campaign inclusion, like if it was in nightfall and then included in GWEN, the gwen inclusion isn't mentioned, same for the other 3 campaigns. Should i go through the ones i know are included in multi campaigns and fill in the extra info or will it just clutter up other pages as im not sure what links to the infoboxes. -- Salome 14:46, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Go right ahead. The purpose of the wiki, and infoboxes, is to document as much of the game as possible for players, and players wonder where items drop ;). 15:36, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey there make sure u check this out and post here User:Shadowphoenix/User Birthdays --Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg 03:55, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

thanks again

Thanks yet again for your help, this time with the armour dye chart. I've seen the change you made to the template i was using in that you decreased the preview size and consolidated all the images into one wee chart. It looks much better than what i had before so ive appropriated it and i'll follow that format in all my future updates on this project, that is assuming you dont mind me using it. laos just a wee question, i accidentally uploaded the black male luxon armour pic onto the female one, i cought it right away and reverted but for some reason, which i cant quite work out, on the preview screen i can see the correct image, then when i click it its the male version instead, but then we click that for a higher resolution pic it goes back to the female pic which is what it should be. Do you have any clue why its doing that, as its confusing the hell outta me. Anyhoo im just gonna reupload the male necrotic stuff and then im gonna go through the old stuff and tab it for deletion. Hey sorry if you've been waiting for answer a long time, I just woke up. :) Go ahead and use the style I am. I think it fits more with the other dye charts on the wiki, and I believe it's informative and nice looking. :) Sometimes when you revert or overwrite stuff it doesn't update for an hour or so. If you go back and it's still not fixed, let me know here and we'll delete and reupload or something! - Bex User BeXoR sig.gif 23:48, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Crude Axe (Nightfall)

Well, it's not the best disambig, but likely still better than yours xD. Maybe ywe could get inspired by the Axe's article's dye chart's pic's name. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 13:29, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
