Hero skill trainer
Because of their name they are often supposed to unlock the skills for heroes (the henchmen) only, though the character will also learn the accordant skills from him/her and as well the pve-only skills (Sunspear skills) which can't even be used by heroes. The name is quite confusing and could hence be explained here. —ZerphaThe Improver 20:25, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm... I don't think this is, technically speaking, a likely issue for Support to handle. I understand that you feel the name is confusing, though, and the best place to make a suggestion for change is Bobby Stein's talk page. After all, his page states, "Post feedback, questions, or suggestions on quest, mission, and NPC dialogue on my user talk page." I'm going to assume that means NPC naming conventions, too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that page. -- Gaile 19:49, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Death Counts and the Survivor Title
A couple of notes that I feel are missing from the desync subsection:
- Unflagged Heroes and Henchmen bound to the leadership of the Survivor character will be standing where that character stands on the server, offering a quick tell-tale indicator where your character is really standing.
- If you suspect your character might be desynced, use of the /stuck command will resync it to where is really is on the server.
Aside from those two snippets I'd also point out that logging out by way of "Menu > Log Out > Yes" is best left as "not recommended" for players who want a very speedy exit. -- WarBlade 20:58, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I often just hit "F12 > Y" to log out. Just another thing. --JonTheMon 21:00, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Jon, I think that this may be a personal mapping for you, as I don't get a log-out for F12 either alone or with Ctrl, Alt, or Shift. -- Gaile 21:48, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Warblade: I should probably explain: Looking at this from a Support viewpoint, the new page is aimed to give Support's perspective on how players may lose the title, particularly in cases where they (1) deny they have acquired a death or (2) believe that a +1 to the death count just wasn't possible, based on their view of the screen and the actions they took.
- Leading to the "common causes of deaths" on the Survivor page will provide a lot of extra info, so I added a subsection that ties to that link. Broader helpful comments, such as how to resync a character, might best be placed on the tips section of that Survivor page. Oh, and I have amended the wording a bit on how to log-out or disconnect, but with the same emphasis on using the "X" option. I'm thinking giving a strong pointer to one option is as helpful as pointing away from another -- what do you think? -- Gaile 21:48, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- You know, I thought about the whole mapping thing just a few minutes after posting. Anyhow, I think it is certainly more concise to say "Do this" instead of "Don't do this, this, or this". --JonTheMon 21:50, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, good to know about the mapping. :) And thanks for the other feedback, as well. -- Gaile 19:36, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hey Gaile. I've left off replying sooner to give myself time to ponder your answer and I think you're right in saying my suggestions were more suitable for tips in the article you linked. Once I had adopted that position I started thinking something else was missing... Perhaps it might be a good idea to have a look around for related articles to whatever Support FAQ topic you might be adding and provide links to them in a more visible/prominent format? An example might be the Report article in a case where the FAQ covers the leeching/botting/spamming problems in the game. -- WarBlade 07:55, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Going to have to correct you here, Gaile. F12 is the default log-out option set by the game. If you open your menu screen, you will see a number of features, with their hotkeys to the right. "Log Out" has always has its default as F12; I know this for a fact because there are very little keys I assigned myself and the Log Out feature wasn't one of them. In fact, when discussing Survivoring in Guild Chat one day, one of our members (who has a whopping 10 Legendary Survivors) mentioned several ways to log out, and that it was possible to log out of the game even during the cutscenes (handy in Vizunah if people may not skip) with F12. Pretty sure we didn't all mass-select the same hotkey for this feature. I couldn't even find the option to change the hotkey until I spent a while looking for it just now. Maybe you changed it yourself once? I'd have to look it up, but I'm pretty sure that when the Character Select feature was added to the Log Out options, even the update notes mentioned the F12 function. F12 has been Log Out just as F11 has always been Options and F9 has been All Bags. -- Elv 08:56, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- PS: Try poking "Restore Default" if you're having doubts about the pre-set function of F12. ;) -- Elv 09:00, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Correct, I remapped it myself to target my party members for healing. Good point, and thanks.
- Obviously, though, for purposes of advice on the quickest disconnect from the game, hitting F12 and confirming is no faster than other confirmation-based escape and is not going to trump the Windows "X" is the best option. -- Gaile 21:48, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Rolling Back characters
Congrats on making this section, Gaile. Very useful information, but I have the feeling this is a bit too hidden for its goal. I don't know how much exposure you would like here, so I won't make any change myself, but I would suggest adding a link to this page from here or here or here (IMO linking it from the main page is not a good idea, as this is information too specific for Guild Wars players) or here.
A topic that you may consider adressing is how Arena Net is not capable of rolling back a character. I have often seen pleas such as...
- I have accidentally deleted my character, would it be possible to roll him back?
- I have just had my account hacked and now all my gold and items are gone from storage, would it be possible for Arena Net to undo it so I get everything back?
- I have just been scammed, could Arena Net roll back the trade so I get my gold/item back?
- And of course, I just lost Survivor, could Arena Net roll it back?
IMO, a single place to explain how those changes are not possible, since they would require Arena Net to roll back the entire game, could be useful. But then again I'm not sure if making an article just to say "We cannot do this" is viable or desirable, or if there's enough to say about the matter to make it worth of a FAQ entry. Erasculio 20:18, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, Erasc. Yes, I agree -- rollbacks is a topic we should cover. It may not be a lengthy answer, but it's certainly a good one to share. Another concerns "Can you replace items?" which is sort of tied to the concept of a roll-back, but is different, as well. I have those on my list, now, and thanks! -- Gaile 20:22, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Xunlai Tournament House
I have taken the liberty of correcting the three links to pages on the GuildWars.com website. ".php" had been presented as ".php|" -- WarBlade 20:15, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help. I did the wiki-link-azation. :) -- Gaile 20:00, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Gaile, is it possible for you to tell us, do the support staff have detailed breakdowns of the points awarded or just a total? I ask this due to several errors in Septembers awards that support have so far said "the points awarded were correct" without any further explanation - despite me supplying my breakdown. thanks! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by [[User:]] ([[User talk:|talk]]).
Expanded XTH Page a Bit
As happens every month, Support got a few tickets from people who had issues with getting their XTH Points. (The number is a tiny percentage of 1% of participants.) We had no system errors or glitches this time, so the tickets that the team is receiving are obviously individual issues, perhaps a misspelled account name (I just noted someone who logged in from NCJapam and not NCJapan, for instance) or, quite frankly, user error on the participant's part in the process predictions or of website and/or game registration. Support will answer all those tickets as quickly as possible but there are no replacement points being given this month, as things worked out just fine.
I made a few modest changes to the XTH page to update references and to reorder some of the references. -- Gaile 20:45, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Maximum possible Tournament Reward Points?
I'm a little confused as to the largest amount of Tournament Reward Points one can earn in a single prediction month. Imagining that I predicted all eight GvG positions and all eight HvH positions correctly, I would have 80 (8x5x2) Prediction Points. However, the table supplied on the rules page only goes up to 40 Prediction Points. Assuming that GvG and HvH are evaluated separately, these would still convert to 500 Tournament Reward Points, and 5 would be added for my participation.
Am I correct in saying that one can earn up to 505 Tournament Reward Points per month via predictions? -- Dashface 11:22, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- For any interested, I found the answer on the new Xunlai Tournament House rules page. "Please note that although there is a theoretical maximum point earning potential of 505 points (250 for GvG, 250 for 1v1, and 5 participation points), the maximum that can be awarded per season is 255 points." -- Dashface 12:28, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
