Template work[edit]

Thanks for your work on the templates. I thought about combining item infobox and weapon infobox, so that every item (weapon is also an item) uses same template. I think this would only mean some copying (and a little #if: to hide type and value for weapons and instead showing attribute and damage type). But I did not figure out if such a "generic" infobox is something which makes editing and creating new articles easier or wether this makes articles too clumsy to handle. - MSorglos 10:31, 20 March 2007 (EDT)

No problem :). At the moment I think they're probably better split, I'm currently working on handling autocategorisation by salvage from weapons, but after that I'll have a look at combining the two :). It could very well become a monster, and seeing as it would be loaded everywhere, I'm concerned about the potential performance issues associated with the code. --Indecision 10:35, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
Hmm, currently got autocategorisation working for common materials and attributes for weapons, however I'm having some trouble with rare materials, if someone can take a look, I'd appreciate it. See User:Indecision/Template/Weapons. --Indecision 10:52, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
Just a thought about auto-categorising, can the template handle multiple materials? Some things do salvage into, for example, both Wood and Iron, randomly. What exactly was the problem with rare materials btw? — Anja 11:06, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
You stole my thought, Anja. ;) That multi-material problem was the one I also recognized that it can exist with this template. Problem with rare material is, that it is not shown (User:Indecision/Sandbox should be categorized into "contains iron") - MSorglos 11:13, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
Provided the formatting for multiple materials is set, then there shouldn't be a problem with categorizing multiple materials (just requires additions of expected material groups to the current switch statement. The rare materials problem is that the categorisation isn't showing, despite the code being essentially identical to what I've used in the common materials categorisation. Feel free to play around with the template/sandbox as you like :). --Indecision 11:19, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
Seems to work without a problem... Just added the 'raresalvage'-parameter to your User:Indecision/Template/Weapons infobox entry (User:Indecision/Sandbox). Or isn't this what you mean? -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 11:31, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
The second box for weapon testing contained that raresalvage, but it was not shown there. Commonsalvage did work with upper/lowercase. - MSorglos 15:22, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
Weird :S, swear it didn't work last night, oh well so long as it works now :). I've updated the categorisation on both templates to include rare and common materials. They are looking more similar now, however I would still keep them separate due to the colour difference between them and to make it easier to use for people (in my opinion). --Indecision 21:24, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
I finally copied your template to Template:Item_infobox. There seems to be little error with autotyping, would you mind to take a look (see Identification Kit for problem) - MSorglos 04:31, 30 March 2007 (EDT)
There is no problem with autotyping, basically autotype will not replace a forced type which is fair enough. But any forced type is being shown twice for some reason. I have also changed two image parameters so it doesn't mess up too many templates, previously the default was for png images and no size enforcement. typically most of the icons are smaller than 100px so a forced size on the default was enlarging them too look horrible. --Lemming64 12:17, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Multi-materials[edit]

During some preliminary testing it looks like the switch statement can't process multi-materials. It will still auto-categorise by the first material present, but can't list all of them. Trying to get it to process all of them will be difficult due to needing to cater for the order in which they are specified when calling the infobox. --Indecision 21:24, 20 March 2007 (EDT)

Finalised?[edit]

I'm happy for the new infoboxes in their current forms to be used as replacements for the existing Weapon infobox and Item infobox. So just to recap the changes:

  • Weapon infobox:
    • Auto-categorises martial weapons, bows and shields (by single-attribute).
    • Auto-categorises by common crafting materials (single terms only).
    • Auto-categorises by rare crafting materials (single terms only).
  • Item infobox:
    • Modified from MSorgolos' template.
    • Provides auto-typing and relevant auto-categorisation: Alcohol, Quest item, Trophy and Salvage item.
    • Provides auto-categorisation for common and rare crafting materials (single terms only).

Please let me know if people find any problems with the current implementations :). --Indecision 21:45, 20 March 2007 (EDT)

As long as there are good and explaining usage notes, it looks great :) — Anja 04:36, 21 March 2007 (EDT)

Drops[edit]

I like your idea of what drops what.--Eloc 03:38, 10 April 2007 (EDT)

Its actually MSorglos' idea, I'm just going through and adding info, as I'm playing at the moment :). --Indecision 03:45, 10 April 2007 (EDT)
Thanks for your help in adding drop research. My idea of a drop table is based on Gares proposed drop research. Nobody told me how to gather that data, so I made my own idea how to handle. It is nice to see that my idea is not that bad and is accepted. A little hint for you Indecision, my name has only two "o" in it - see my signature. ;) - MSorglos 04:08, 10 April 2007 (EDT)
Woops, my bad there, was typing a quick reply and forgot to check things :(. Fixed now. --Indecision 04:10, 10 April 2007 (EDT)

Out of Kourna[edit]

Didn't see the note about it in the update notes? ;) It was recently added. Not sure which update it was though. - Anja Astor Anja Astor (talk) 06:16, 12 April 2007 (EDT)

Nope, but its a horrible quest, slow and the reward is only 1 experience... Glad I'm not seeing things, but I presume it still needs fixing :). --Indecision 06:19, 12 April 2007 (EDT)

Item parameters[edit]

Hey Indecision, I notice you are filling in a lot of the missing item articles. I was looking at Kournan Bracer, and I noticed that you've left some XX's for gold and a [[]] under rare salvage items. Wouldn't it be best to leave these as blank? LordBiro 08:53, 12 April 2007 (EDT)

Only problem with leaving them blank is: value will default to 'Can't be sold', which isn't technically correct, and ommitting raresalvage will cause it not to appear in the salvage box, which may lead people to believe that these items don't have a raresalvage component. I'm happy to edit them so that they say something along the lines of Not Specified, or unknown. Or, if I misunderstood you completely, I can set them to be whitespace. I've mainly just been filling them in as I pick up these items in-game, hence why some have been a little rushed. --Indecision 09:10, 12 April 2007 (EDT)
Edit: Please let me know what you'd prefer, and I'll go back and fix the items :). For now however, I'm off till tomorrow afternoon or so. --Indecision 09:16, 12 April 2007 (EDT)
I wasn't aware that leaving the parameter blank would result in this behaviour. It doesn't make much sense to me. Saying nothing is not the same as saying no, if you see what I mean! I will post my thoughts over at the formatting or infobox article. LordBiro 09:19, 12 April 2007 (EDT)

You big bad RC spammer![edit]

/me hands out a RC-cloaking device. :) -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 10:35, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Heh, sorry bought that, updating all the boss articles for Category:Image needed. I know its your pet hate :P. I wish I had one of those for these minor housekeeping type things. I wonder if a bot could work *ponder*.--Indecision 10:38, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Edit: I'm going to take a break and let you get back to patrolling :). About half done atm :(. --Indecision 10:45, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
You do realise that you can give a hint here: GWW:BOTS? -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 10:47, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Yep, but I'm not sure if it can be done through a bot, I've dropped a note on that page any ways. --Indecision 10:51, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Wiki improvement[edit]

Hi and congratulations for the highest reward so far on my improvement project. You managed to gather half of the whole award sum, 25k. I hope you'll take part in future tasks too when the rewards get higher. You can get your gold in game. :) -- Gem (gem / talk) 10:06, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

the plain planes[edit]

Could you put your input on the talk:Chaos planes page in reguard to the names used... I see you originally moved Chaos plains page to Chaos planes and were tying to work out which pages need correcting MrPaladin talk 18:10, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

You mentioned that Sentient Roots can be farmed in the Fahranur City... but where exactly? I must have run all over the place and didn't see them. I'm mostly killing them outside of Kamadan right now.. but if it's better over there - I'd like to try that place. Can you be more exact?

New Drop/Salvage Research Project[edit]

After noting that drop research has been almost non-existent since 2007 and quite often presented in different manners I have just begun a shiny new drop/salvage project and was hoping that I could maybe attain your assistance as one of the major contributors of this information (or at least your support or comments on my proposals).

Many thanks in advance for your time. Dakota 22:55, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
