Thanks
Thanks for the comment Salome, i'll bear that in mind. I really have no idea how to use wiki, i'd like to make a user page but that all seems waaaaay beyond me. Anyway, thanks again (wasnt sure I should reply in my talk page or here or what...)Tauntedflail 13:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- you can respond on either but its probably better to respond in the same thread as the original message, so in this case that would have been your own talk page. As for the user page any help i can offer i will.-- Salome 17:21, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Notable status
Heya Salome, my understanding of Notable is that the guild has to appear on they Arena Net notable page. Clandestiny of Solitude is not The Imperium of the Lazy Nation. Even though you have the article linked, I would have to disagree. (edit) You can of course revert me.-- Wynthyst 10:28, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I don't want to revert you, if I'm wrong, Wyn. So if you could guide me on this I would appreciate it. My reasoning was this: The article about Clandestiny is about the entire LaZy alliance, not just Clandestiny. As all the guilds are ran by the same person and any guild is taken to be one and the same as the lazy alliance, thus all are a part of lazy nation. The guilds are not considered to be separate entities, rather more parts of a greater whole. The reason LaZy haven't applied to be recognized again is because we have already been recognized through clandestiny. Thus using that reasoning I thought Lazy fell under notable guild/alliance. I understand that just because one of the guilds in an alliance is recognised shouldn't mean that all the guilds in said alliance are also recognised, but in instances where all guilds are ran by the same person and all members move freely through those guilds and the alliance is considered to be one big guild, would that then make it a different matter? Again I don't want to add LaZy to that page if it doesn't fit the requirements, as im not one of these people who feels comfortable pasting LaZy all over the wiki, I just want the category to be accurate. Any advice/oppinions you could offer on this would be appreciated as I am a wee bit confused by it. Its a shame we didn't know that you could apply for GotW as an alliance, as at the time, we thought you could only put forward individual guilds. -- Salome 10:44, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I didn't read through the entire Anet article, but, there was another alliance that was also recognized, so what I did with them was to tag all the guilds in the alliance, however, I would suggest (if it's not there) that a link to the ANet article be placed on each guild page as well since the link in the notice box is to the general Notable guilds page with just the alpha index and anyone going to look would not be able to find the individual guild names. I'm not trying to be difficult, and yes I want you to get the categorization as well, thank you for explaining the situation! -- Wynthyst 10:52, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- While you are at it, you may want to make a mention that it was the ALLIANCE that was recognized and list Clandestiny by name to alleviate confusion.-- Wynthyst 10:59, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I understand completely Wyn and I agree with you. It's a shame we can't write to anet to get the title of the article changed but it seems a bit pointless to retroactively change it a year after it was written. I'll go through the guild wiki pages and tag it and update the page accordingly. -- Salome 11:04, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know... I would think that ANet would be willing to do that. It might be at least worth asking Gaile about, for historical accuracy if nothing else.-- Wynthyst 11:07, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'd prefer not to have the individual guilds in the notable section. That way, the notable category gets flooded by a host of redirects. It seems pretty clear from the article that it is the alliance lazy which is notable, not each individual guild in it. I also only found one page for lazy on the wiki, so that one should be listed, but not all redirects. --Xeeron 12:44, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- When I made the suggestions I didn't realize that none of the guilds had pages. The other alliance I mentioned all had individual pages already.-- Wynthyst 13:15, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not disagreeing with you, it's just I followed the same format as The imperial Guards, which has each of its guilds marked. The problem is, that the page which exists on the wiki at the moment is in fact a guild within LaZy, we don't actually have an overall Alliance page which would be more apt to put it on. However the guild which has an actual page on the wiki is not the same lazy guild as the one which is mentioned in the article header. Thus it may cause confusion. Also the LaZy guilds are about to undergo a change soon, in that each guild within LaZy is about to get it's own page in the coming month. So the redirects won't actually be there for that much longer. However if you would like me to change it, I don't mind and I will, as at the moment the whole notable guild category is confusing me. :) -- Salome 13:20, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I only noticed the imperial guards after I made the edit here, but that one should not list each sub-guild as well. Otherwise the notable guild category gets ugly and confusing. For "super-guilds" that consist of more than one individual guild but are much more organised than a simple alliance, having one central page would be good. --Xeeron

(Reset indent) I don't see it as being so much a problem with the Notable guilds category, as with the way ANet treats the Guild of the Week selection, since they don't limit it to individual guilds, but include alliances as well. I don't see how we can only put one page of an alliance into the category, if all the guilds are actually mentioned in the article, thus my choice to tag all The Imperial Guards pages (and I tagged the actual pages, not the redirects). I may be wrong, but somehow it doesn't seem fair otherwise. I guess I'm not so worried about how the category list looks.-- Wynthyst 13:51, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I think maybe I should make a main LaZy Alliance page and then have the individual guild pages off that, then that way I could taggy the LaZy Alliance page with the notable guilds tag and leave the individual guilds tag as normal tags. How does that sound? However we do have 17 guilds in our alliance now, so its gonna take a wee bit of reworking the current guild template to a minor degree. -- Salome 13:55, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- That sounds good. From what I understand, both Lazy and TIG define themselves as one big guild (even though they span several ingame guilds), so one main page in the wiki would be best. If there is additional stuff that the guild-parts want to add, you can rework the main page into a portal to the sub-guild's pages. However I feel there is little doubt that ANet recognised the big guild as notable, not each individual part (So TIG is notable, but TIGx alone is not). --Xeeron 15:43, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Your guild's page
Just a quick note to let you know that under the Recruitment section of LaZy's page, it refers to perspective members. The word, I think, that you want is prospective. I'd change it myself, but I think your guild'd prefer it if someone from inside LaZy did it instead. :D Kokuou 10:43, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Bcrat voting
Let me start by saying I have no intention nor desire to talk you out of your vote. I am curious though, why oppose? Quite a few of the votes so far have been surprising, but in particular I'm interested in the change from support last election to oppose this election. So, what's changed? - Tanetris 20:38, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Errr...pardon??? I haven't changed my vote. It's still a yay vote from me. Have i signed in the wrong place? I wasn't really paying attention when i voted on your page, as I got a phone call around the same time pestering me about double glazing. That will teach me to pay more attention when im voting. sorry about that. I'm still firmly in the Yay camp. Although I will be honest, I'm a wee bit conflicted about this election. You, Anja, Aiiane and brains are 4 of the users I respect most in this community, so out of the four of you I really dont know who I ultimately want to see win, but I'll be happy regardless. Anyway, I'm going to go and correct my vote. Can't believe i put it in the wrong place like a numpty. -- Salome 23:21, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Kurzick article
Hi. Please note that, as you pointed, is a generic term to refer (even if in a derogative way) to such faction, same as Suxon for Luxon. I would like to request from you to re-add the line in the article given the informative nature of it. It's just the same issue as "wammo", after all.--Fighterdoken 23:34, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sorry fighterdoken, I respect your edits alot but I don't agree with you on this one. I don't think a derogative terms should count as note worthy enough to end up in then note section. It's not really informative. It's just a general comment about a general insult. Wammo is different as it defines an actual general build type and profession combo and can also indicate a form of play. "suxon" and "kurdick" however are just moronic insults you see thrown about in AB and the listing of this adds nothing to knowledge of those reading the article, where as the term "wammo" might add some understanding to an individual. However my stance on this may be wrong. Thus I would suggest that we ask one of the admins for their opinion on this. As we both have valid points, I would just like to see if others consider this kinda information pertinent to the article. -- Salome 23:41, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- Speaking as a user here as usual (as admins generally don't decide content), I think we should keep the Kurdick note. We document, we don't judge. -- Brains12 \ talk 23:43, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Seems like a good idea. In any case, and for the sake of consistency, we should have such line in both articles, or don't have the line in either of the articles. For the sake of 1RR, i would then request you to remove the line from the Luxon article until a decision is made about if it is indeed noteworty or not.--Fighterdoken 23:44, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- But how is adding an insult considered documentation? If everyone started calling Gaile a wanker in game, would we then have to add that to the Gaile article? I'm not saying that to troll, just using it as an example. -- Salome 23:46, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with you fighter (I'm actually a luxon myself and always have been). I wasn't reverting one and not the other to unbalance things, i only reverted the one cause i only noticed the one and after your message i didn't want to play with your edits until we had decided. -- Salome 23:48, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) I have to agree with Brains. "Suxon", "Kurdick", and "wammo" are all popularly used terms. Whether or not they are derogatory or negative is not for us to decide, but as they are popular and well-known terms, they should be documented as such. Salome: Probably, but that's a whole different situation... Calor 23:49, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- Okay then guys, i stand corrected. I shall revert my revert. Sorry fighterdoken. :) -- Salome 23:50, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

- I would have to concur that both terms should be documented. -- Wynthyst 23:51, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- I dont see the difference Brains. They are all personal attacks, it's just one attacks a group of people personally and the other aims at Gaile alone, but it seems that the consensus is that it should, so fair enough. :) -- Salome 23:54, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- Kurdick and Suxon are more derogatory terms than outright (or even subtle) attacks. -- Brains12 \ talk 00:03, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know mate, using those terms is basically calling someone a dick or saying they suck, either one seems like an attack to me, but i was probably just trying to be too PC. -- Salome 00:06, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- One's a broad, negative stereotype, while the other is a blatant personal attack. Calor 00:07, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't see how ones better than the other. Racism can be labelled as a broad negative stereotype, doesnt make it any less insulting than a personal attack. -- Salome 00:13, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

I know you do alot for the wiki but the stuff you seem interested in doesn't seem to need admin tools for you to do it more effectively, however, on the other hand, I've seen you chat about stuff and you seem even handed and fair with people, so thus I don't think you would abuse the sysop powers either. thus why im sitting on the fence on this one. -- Salome 03:32, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

All the comments seem quite positive in saying that probably in a couple of months they would vote for you if you take a more active interest in the internal workings part of the wiki and the like. I know it sounds a bit disheartening but at least people aren't just calling you a twat, like they would to me if I ever put my name forward. ;) -- Salome 03:40, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

phailzunexperienced. — Seru Talk 03:44, 1 September 2008 (UTC)- LOL. again dont take it to heart. It's a learning experience and if you truly want to be a sysop take on the more pressing concerns from users and work from there. Once you've shown people a few months of the person you could be as a sysop, then i'm sure people will vote for you. On the wiki it really is never to late to grow and learn from what people say about you and then from there develop your skills accordingly. Personally I get too personally involved in wiki drama and I have a habit of taking things way too seriously and get really pissed at people, thus why I think I would make a shite sysop. That's why I'm sticking as a contributor. :) -- Salome 03:48, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

- As i see it im not going to get it. — Seru Talk 03:37, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Ohh... empty, fresh, like an open field of snow...
AND I'M WRITING MY NAME ON IT. -- NUKLEAR IIV 14:52, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Testing new sig
Hmmm.... grown bored of old sig so thought I would test out a new one. Tell me what you think guys. -- Salome 12:48, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- better than the old one. also, use
#960
instead of{{subst:w-color|dark}}
or whichever it is :)> and i think GWW:SIGN says no big tags? - Y0_ich_halt 12:53, 3 September 2008 (UTC)- Indeed it does, i didnt know the tag was going to do that actually,I'm such a numpty. lol Should have remeered not to use templates in my sig.Shows how tired I am. Hows this now? -- Salome 12:59, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- I deem it worthy of existing as the representative string of characters you use to assign a preceding comment to your person. - Y0_ich_halt 14:08, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Um... yeah. Right.
- Anyway, I thought you were Silverleaf for a moment -- it's a little hard to read (and his sig is quite similar :P) -- Brains12 \ talk 14:16, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- And yeah, you shouldn't have the big tags in -- people without the font style will see it as their default font enlarged. -- Brains12 \ talk 14:17, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- LOL @ yo. Yeh Silverleaf himself has already commented on the fact that my sig bears certain...errrr.... similarities with his. *tries to pretend that I didn't copy him*. As it for it being hard to read, thats an odd one. I'm on my desktop and my laptop at the moment and on my desktop the sig is clear and crisp and easily identifiable, however on my laptop its all crooked and annoying. Hmmm....*ponders* EDIT: and poo forgot to take out the big markers, I'm so tired at the moment that my wiki coding is suffering and im making numpty-esque mistakes-- Salome 14:21, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Are you sure you have the Vivaldi font installed on your desktop? -- Brains12 \ talk 14:34, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yup I think so as Ive got the big sexy curly S that I like displaying on both, its just ones resolution is better than the other. I'm working on changing my tag now though so its easier to read for everyone. -- Salome 14:36, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- looks nice without italic. - Y0_ich_halt 14:38, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm.... Sereptina font on my desktop looks like times new roman. Does that mean i dont have that font installed then. -- Salome 14:43, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

- now you've changed your sig too. I like the classical feel of this sig, just not its size. Shame i cant make it bigger even slightly. -- Salome 15:49, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

- I liked the pentagram better tbh. Made your sig unique. — ク Eloc 貢 02:31, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- I liked it too, but i fancied something slightly autumnal and seasonal. I'll probably change it back at some point in the future. :) -- Salome 02:32, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Characters templates
Hello Salome. I have recently tried out the Character templates for my characters, but i cant get it working. Would you be able to help me? Its in my user box, and it isnt going well.
Thanks, --Burning Freebies 14:39, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yup sure matey. I'll have a wee look and see what i can do. -- Salome 16:04, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- Okay matey, I've worked out whats up. You are actually changing the template instead of just utilising it. You see the template should be just saved and left alone. Then you make your charecter pages utilising the variables in the template. If I'm not explaing it well,I apologise but trust me. -- Salome 16:13, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- Okay burning, I've done an exmaple of how to use the template at the bottom of your sandbox. So it might be easier for you to just copy and paste that for each charecter and change the variables for each. -- Salome 16:25, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
