Regarding the User:Gran Eddie pages[edit]

The username Gran Eddies is not registered and therefore these pages are not allowed in that userspace. If you want to create character pages please use your own userspace. Alternatively if you want to create userpages for someone else, first get them to register on the wiki.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss, please feel free to ask me on my talk page, or ask any of the helpers, check out the Help center, or post a question on the Help:Ask a wiki question page. Thanks!- TheRave talk (talk) 22:31, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

User Image Naming[edit]

Hi Death Raven, the images you recently uploaded have been tagged for deletion due to improper naming, our image policy provides information on correct image naming. Images uploaded for use on your user page should be named in the following format: User <user name> <image name>.<file extension>. So for example this image should be re-uploaded as User Death Raven Shadow Death Raider face.jpg. The same goes for the other user related images you have uploaded, thanks. --Kakarot Talk 04:49, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Signature creation[edit]

It's discouraged to create a subpage for the signature, since it's easy for someone else to vandalise it. Please use your preferences instead. - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.pngTalk 17:28, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

or, she could use User:Spanish Shadow/Sig.js and use {{SUBST:User:Spanish Shadow/Sig.js}} in her preferences o and fyi, i think ur double images is a violation of GWW:SIGN --The Scythe User The Scythe Has Fallen Sig2.png Has Fallen 14:15, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
I already solved my issue with the signature, a guy told me how to write it down on my preferences. In the GWW:SIGN doesn't say anything about double images, btw I've seen many with 2 or more images. --User Spanish Shadow Lara2.pngSpanish ShadowUser Spanish Shadow Lara2.png 22:20, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Double images arnt aloud, Please tell me where the 'many others' are. (and Alice+Sven are still using just one picture.)--Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 22:23, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
I'll tell you were are those signatures when you show me were it is said double images aren't allowed. --User Spanish Shadow Lara2.pngSpanish ShadowUser Spanish Shadow Lara2.png 22:33, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

" Images

A small image or icon may be included in your signature.

The image used is constrained to a maximum size of 19x19 pixels, to avoid..."

speaks about it as it is singuler. meaning, 1 picture. also. tell me where the 'others' are, or i will be forced to get someone more of a party-pooper than me to use force >_> .--Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 17:19, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

It only proves that one image is allowed but not that using more than one isn't allowed. You know: "Only one image is allowed" or "It is forbidden to use more than one image", something like this would be a proof. So keep trying, well, you'd better don't, you're not right. By the way, you don't have personal life or something better to do instead of talking to me? --User Spanish Shadow Lara2.pngSpanish ShadowUser Spanish Shadow Lara2.png 17:37, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
"If an image is used in your signature..." <- an image, here at wiki we are. infact, quite literate people. IF we wanted it we would have put: If any image(s) are used in your signature... /we win --The Scythe User The Scythe Has Fallen Sig2.png Has Fallen 19:15, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
OMG.... I can't believe how people don't want to understand it.....
This would be my final word: IF THERE IS NO EXPLICIT SENTENCE SAYING IT IS FORBIDDEN, THEN IT ISN'T.
If we talk "literate" as you say, for example if we look at the character article in this wiki: "In order to delete a character, players must head to the character selection screen, select the character they would like to be deleted ... Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed." So this means... YOU CAN ONLY DELETE 1 CHARACTER. It is exactly what you mean with my signature, because it is singular. You say: ""If an image is used in your signature..." <- an image, here at wiki we are. infact, quite literate people.", and in the characters article they say: "In order to delete a character", I quote you again: "IF we wanted it we would have put: If any image(s) are used in your signature" which means that if you are "literate" you would write "'In order to delete any character".
So please... buy a life, cuz I won't be answering any of your not founded "replies" anymore. If you need to talk with someone, get aim, msn, go to the park... whatever you want, but stop spamming my talk.

P.S. All of your spamming messages proving nothing from this point on, would be deleted. --User Spanish Shadow Lara2.pngSpanish ShadowUser Spanish Shadow Lara2.png 20:01, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi. You know you're violating GWW:SIGN. You're not funny or clever. Fix your sig.--User Oneshot O.JPGneshot. moo. 21:11, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
It must be a nightmare..... I JUST ASK YOU FOR A FUCKING PROOF, COPY-PASTE ME THE PART OF THE GWW:SIGN WHERE IT SAYS I'M VIOLATING RULES. I'VE SAID MANY TIMES THAT ANYWHERE IT'S SAID "MORE THAN ONE IS FORBIDDEN". IF ANY OF YOU HAVE SUCH PROOF, STOP SPAMMING MY TALK PAGE. AND I DON'T TRY TO BE FUNNY OR CLEVER OR WHATEVER, I DIDN'T STARTED THIS CRAB.
I dont want to start a crab either. but just listen to people.--Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 21:18, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
"A small image or icon may be included in your signature...If an image is included in your signature..."
That's it. Right there. A. 1. Singular. If you could have more than one, it would say. User Oneshot O.JPGneshot. moo. 21:22, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) I understand that you might be frustrated over this, but a simple dispute is quickly turning into a multiple-page spanning argument. Raging is not going to help, as is threatening people in any way. A second sig image is nothing to wage a text or wikilaw fight over. Honestly, I don't find the second image disruptive at all but this will work out well either way if a) you drop the second image (It's not life-or-death) or b)The rest of you just leave him be. Since Oneshot posted that, I'd suggest option a) Shadow Runner 21:23, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I am quite disappointed to see how this situation developed. A couple of remarks.

Neil, Scythe, could you, in the future, please abstain from pointing people at policy if you can't express yourselves without resorting to baiting (even when it's unintentional)? Phrases like "or i will be forced to get someone more of a party-pooper than me to use force", "/we win" and "thats it, calling an admin" do not help at all, and will only lead to a more volatile situation, like what happened here. This could all have been resolved so much easier if you guys actually tried being nice to each other. Trust me, it works.

Spanish Shadow, policy is made by the community. It isn't always perfect, but it's what was decided on by community consensus and until changed (again by consensus) the community here should follow said policy. The GWW:SIGN policy was written with the intent of allowing one image per signature. Like it or not, that's what it is. I'm not going to debate the linguistics of the policy here since you've obviously decided to explain the lack of explicit numbers in the policy's wording in your favor no matter what we say. Fact is that community consensus is against using multiple images so until you make a convincing argument in favor of multiple images in signatures on the policy talk page and get a consensus to change the policy, you're not allowed to have multiple images in your signature.

This all looks like a bad attempt at wikilawyering stacked on top of a failure to communicate. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and for the last time ask you to remove the second image from your signature, please. WhyUser talk:Why 21:36, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Now, confirmed by an administrator, I'll proceed to delete one of them. Sorry for the inconveniences and please, write down in the GWW:SIGN "Only one image is allowed" to avoid future misunderstandings with new users. Thank you for your intervention. --Spanish ShadowUser Spanish Shadow Lara2.png 21:44, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome, happy editing. WhyUser talk:Why 21:45, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) You said you've seen many users with two or more images in their signature. Do you remember any of these users? - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.pngTalk 11:12, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Talk page content removal[edit]

Sorry, but you are not allowed to remove content from your talk page, since it is not "yours", but a mean for the community to get in contact with you. If you feel a certain something has to go because of it being a personal attack, spam or vandalism, it's better to contact the admin noticeboard until you are familiar enough with the wiki.--Fighterdoken 20:33, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Just a piece of advice[edit]

Policies here are written by the community, through discussion and consensus. No policy is written in black and white covering every do and don't, but the intent is always clear. Use of a singular form of a word carries the intent and the meaning of using the word ONE. When you have multiple members of the community explaining to you the intent, and general practice, you should listen to them. Your arguments regarding the signature policy will only serve to label you as a "wiki lawyer", which is something universally abhorred here. While I do not agree with the way Neil went about his interaction with you, your claims that you've "seen many with 2 or more images." are simply nonsense, and I would challenge you to provide even one example of someone here on GWW who has more than one image in their signature. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 16:57, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Behavior aside, I think this immediate issue has been resolved. For future policy discussions, try to avoid pulling ideas from the text of the policy that do not exist. There is no hidden meaning, no backhanded way to describing anything, and is not made to be confusing. Policies are written in laymans terms, and are designed to be easily read and understood. If you are confused about what the policy is saying, then ask, don't argue. Listen, don't lash out. Frustrated? then take a break, and don't attack. etc etc... you get the idea. --LaniaUser Lania Elderfire pinkribbon.jpg 18:46, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
