Admin noticeboard[edit]
Hullo, Xas. Since we got rid of the Admin Review and Ban templates here on the wiki, the admin noticeboard page has been put in place to allow users to get in contact with the entire admin team (to report vandalism and such). Figured I'd let you know about it. Cheers! :) --Dirigible 18:12, 27 April 2007 (EDT)
- Thanks Mr. 5000 for pointing that out, it's added to my watchlist and quicklinks and I've commented over there :) --Xasxas256 22:41, 28 April 2007 (EDT)
Wow[edit]
Wow, for a Sysop, you hardly get any request of blocking or help requests or anything compared to the other sysops.--Eloc 08:50, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- You're probably right although I end up doing a bit of that stuff anyway, in fact I think I have done more deletes and bans than article edits! I haven't had as much time as I'd like to wiki edit for a while now, I've been looking after a dog and a cat as well as my sister who was quite sick recently. But I'm hoping to have a bit more free time in the next week or two so I can dive back in. Also even when I don't appear that active I generally do "lurk" and cast my eye over recent changes pretty regularly, I figure as the only admin in this part of the world I should be available to stop any major vandalism/address major issues so we have coverage across all timezones. But what I really want is the chance to do is drop a line on a few more talk pages of the people who I don't know from the other wiki, I'm getting there though! --Xasxas256 14:23, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm from Melbourne which is in the south east part of Australia where the weather is ordinary but that's ok, I live in the sporting capital of the world! :D Also I'm pretty sure Brissy is plagued by killer flesh eating ants so you know Melb has that going for it too! --Xasxas256 23:59, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

- What? Hate the cool people!? Is it mostly because of Avril? She's French Canadian isn't she? :P Actually bears must be pretty interesting, I'll give you that one. I used to live in the outer suburbs and we'd get the odd koala and a few roos but these days the only thing of note is the bats, heaps fly overhead every night but bears are probably more exciting, lucky they don't know how to get into igloos I guess! --Xasxas256 05:44, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

- Dam, you should have taken some of my snow. It got to -50 Celcius here this Winter.--Eloc 14:06, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I just had a look at Finland on wiki travel and it gets to -50 deg celcius there too. I can't even imagine what that'd be like! I used to think I was pretty gutsy when I wore shorts and there was ice on my car (ie a degree or two below zero) but negative 50 degrees, that's insane! Also there's some cool stuff in Finland, I just read that you 1,000 types of lichen it's just that lichen isn't very cute so it gets no publicity! On the upside you've only got one poisonous snake, a kyykäärme?, in Australia there's over 100! I actually saw a Taipan when I was a kid on a camping trip, I probably didn't realise just how dangerous it at the time. I've been "chased" by a Red-bellied Black Snake too before, those things are big! --Xasxas256 16:36, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

(ri)I have no idea why I didn't have your page watched! Sneaky little bugger.
Anyway, yes, exaggerating about the ants a bit (I hate ants) although we did have trouble with those fire ants a few years back because they somehow got through quarantine from the US. I think it's funny how much people love koalas. They have scary claws and grunt a lot. Wombats are so much cooler. We've had a snake in our bathroom - a really old 6 foot long carpet python (but the wildlife guy we rang said it was probably an escaped pet). Although telling people that makes people think I live in the middle of the bush when in reality it's just ordinary suburbia. The swarms of flying foxes are every night are cool. I should get a video for you sometime Gem. I've never actually touched snow, although I've seen it in the UK (well, sleet mostly and some on the side of the road when we were driving) and New Zealand (on mountain tops). :(
The main problem Australia has these days is the drought. Brisbane is on level 5 water restrictions which means 4 minute showers, no watering gardens except with gray water or rain water, etc. We are only allowed to use 140L of water per person per day.
Other than that, it's great living here. The weather is very mild (it averages about 15C in winter and 25C in summer). - BeX 03:38, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ohhh level 5, that's bad. Melbourne is at level 3 at the moment and I hate the fact that I can't keep my cars clean any more because recycled water car washes are ordinary but geez, 4 minute showers, I'd never feel clean! It must be really dry up there at the moment, you'd be walking on a carpet of ants these days! My memories of Brisbane are that whilst the temperature might be around 30, it's always very humid so don't believe the propaganda! :P Also the Broncos suck this year! Oh that's a bit harsh, I mean yes the Broncos do suck but Brisbane is a nice little town, my grandparents used to live there. I don't remember ants but my grandpa used to feed the magpies up there. But the thing I remember most about Queensland is the fruit, down south we get very nice stonefruits; apricots, peaches etc. but the bananas up there are just something else!
- The last time I saw a wombat was about a second before I hit it :( I only just clipped it but unfortunately I killed it. They're amazing animals, they're kinda cute but they are so solid! --Xasxas256 06:09, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah it sucks pretty hard right now. 4 minute showers are okay. You get used to them. I suggest using an exfoliating glove if you don't feel particularly clean. :P The ants have gotten a lot better. I went around our building poisoning them all... >_> The water is running very low. The paper says theres about 68 weeks left of usable water. But it's commerce and industry that uses the most water - agriculture uses about 70% of the water in QLD. They've gotten better but it's really just not enough. Too little too late.
- Poor wombat. :( They're like fat waddling dogs. :( - BeX 07:26, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah well Australia has Fatso the Fat-Arsed Wombat. FYI Fatso the Fat-Arsed Wombat > Canada! :P As an update Victoria is now getting a desalination plant and water prices will double in the next 5 years. 60 weeks doesn't sound good, what happens when allowed shower times get to 0? Dirt baths only!? :P Oh well when you guys run out of water you can come down to Melbourne, FKA the world's most liveable city. --Xasxas256 03:23, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

- We didn't use to, but our government wasn't far sighted enough to plan ahead. We've been in a drought for over a decade. I wouldn't mind visiting Canada though. I'd love to wander around Vancouver. IMO, Canada and New Zealand get so much crap because they are next to "bigger" countries, but usually they are just as nice or far better. Patriotism should never be about competing and putting other countries down though. - BeX 04:38, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've always thought that Canada is probably fairly similar to Australia, only New Zealand would be more alike I think. The only thing is that there's no real link between Aussies and Canucks, the fact I've only heard the phrase Canuck once before is probably a testament to that. We don't have any strong geographic, political or economic ties with you guys and probably just as importantly there's no great sporting rivalries between the two of us either. You guys just have greater lakes than us. I'd reckon that Canada is nicer than the US but I'll defend to the death my right to say that Australia kicks Kiwi butt! What have they got over us? More sheep and better snow and that's it. :P --Xasxas256 05:15, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

- I'm from Melbourne and I've been to Auckland and Vancouver briefly. - Vancouver is on my need to visit list. I've travelled quite a bit in my short life span, and really, the differences between countries isn't that huge. There are areas in my city that look like San Francisco, other parts that look like the outer suburbs of LA. There's some countryside along the Hume Highway (I think it's that one) that's identical to Ireland right down to the grass, rocks and sheep. It's enough to make you feel like you could live there, but at the same time enough to feel you aren't quite at home. - BeX 07:40, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've actually never been to Vancouver ^^". Most of my life I've lived in Alberta (Canada's richest Province). I live only 3 hours North, on Canada's largest Air Force Base, from Edmonton which has the Worlds Largest Mall (It also has worlds largest indoor theme park and worlds largest indoor waterpark).--§ Eloc § 17:55, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Skill trainers[edit]
Where in GWW:FORMAT is formatting for Skill Trainers?--Eloc 03:57, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's just a small bit under NPCs formating. There does seem to be a fair bit of variation though (not including say Ossian which is clearly just incomplete.) Hmmm Firstwatch Sergio has been done with an inclusion, it's similar to the other wiki, but Zhao Di has the table done differently and Michiko is just text and neither uses an inclusion. That was probably your next question, which is the right way hey!? --Xasxas256 16:36, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ya, I helped out a bit with Zhao Di. I was gonna ask if I could change the formatting guide so they could all look like Zhao Di's because I think it looks alot better with that kinda table.--Eloc 17:50, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

- <font color="Black"> § <font color="Red"> Eloc </font> § </font>

- You have to put the font colors in the brackets but it's still a bit long. We need abbreviations for "font color" and "font" like "fc" and "f". Greetings. I have started a request for confirmation discussion on the RfA page regarding your status as sysop. This is just the first step (which could pretty much end in nothing changing), but your input would be appreciated.--Fighterdoken 18:20, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Sysop rights cleanup[edit]
Hello, I appreciate you've been inactive for a fair while, but on the odd chance you've still got your talk page watchlisted/notifications enabled, I thought out of courtesy I would leave a message (admittedly I'm going to copy-paste the same message for all affected users). (1) We're going through a bit of a review of which inactive users have sysop rights (including reconfirmation), and (2) here's a link to yours: Guild Wars Wiki:Requests for adminship/Xasxas256. -Chieftain Alex 19:02, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
